Abstract: | Blood samples from 4,427 cows in over 300 commercial dairy herds were examined as part of a health monitoring scheme. Preliminary evidence is presented indicating that marginal concentrations of serum magnesium are related to below mean levels of blood urea nitrogen in such a manner as to suggest that marginal magnesium deficiency is a possible cause of reduced voluntary feed intake in cows managed in commercial dairy farming systems. |
