| Abstract: | Maize seedlings, germinating and growing from the seeds soaked with BR, were treated by chilling-temperature. The electrolyte efflux ratio(%) of seedlings treated with BR was lower than those treated with water, while the respiratory ratio of coleoptile of seed- lings treated with BR declined more slowly and the amplitude range of which changed smaller than those treated with water. These results suggest that BR may have some protective effects on membrane system at chilling temperature and may relieve the abnormal changes in cell respiratory function induced by chilling temperature as well. |
