| Abstract: | The cell structure of leaf tissues in 40 longan cultivars were tested during 1988 -1990. The results were as follows.
The cell tense ratio (CTR)-the thickness of (palisade+lower tight tissue)/meso-
phyll was positively correlated with the cold tolerance of the cultivars, which appeared relatively stable, not changing with different leaf ages and cultivated regions; The characteristics of the cell structure in leaf tissues suggested the genetic differences of cold tolerance among the cultivars, and could be the criteria of cold tolerance of longan. The study indicated that there were 15 cultivars with higher cold tolerance, 19 cultivars with average cold tolerance and 6 cultivars with lower cold tolerance among 40 tested longan cultivars. |
