Trace metal concentrations in some Kashmir Himalayan Lakes

The concentrations of trace elements (Pb, Mn, Cu, Zn and Cc) were measured in three Kashmir Himalayan Lakes. Cadmium, Ag, and Hg were not detected. In addition physico-chemical parameters of the lakes were analyzed to asses the water quality. The results indicate that Trigam and Tilwan lakes are more enriched than Khanpur lake. Comparisons of trace metal levels with EPA standards show that Mn and Pb concentrations are well above the permissible levels.
