Abstract: | Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) molecular variants were characterized by gradient reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP)-HPLC) from brain extracts of two perciforms with economic importance for Argentina and Uruguay. RP-HPLC fractions were tested in radioimmunoassays (RIAs) with both poly-specific and specific antisera. Both species showed the presence of the same three molecular forms, immunologically and chromatographically indistinguishable from sbGnRH, cGnRH-II and sGnRH. This study supports the hypothesis that their expression is a common pattern in perciforms. |
