Abstract:This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of dietary arginine (Arg)/lysine (Lys) on growth performance, body composition, serum biochemical indices and amino acid deposition rate in body tissues of all-male yellow catfish.All-male yellow catfish with the initial body weight of (2.34±0.05) g were randomly divided into 8 groups with 4 replicates per group and 30 fish per replicate. The fish in the 8 groups were fed 8 isonitrogenous and isolipidic diets, and the dietary Arg/Lys were designed as 2.19/2.61 (%/%, the same as below;group Ⅰ, as control group), 1.74/2.08 (group Ⅱ), 1.75/3.02 (group Ⅲ), 2.63/2.08 (group Ⅳ), 2.64/3.12 (group Ⅴ), 3.07/2.61 (group Ⅵ), 2.19/3.65 (group Ⅶ) and 3.08/3.65 (group Ⅷ), respectively.Growth trial lasted for 10 weeks. The results showed as follows: 1) when dietary Arg/Lys was 3.07/2.61, the final body weight (FBW), gain weight (GW), weight gain rate (WGR) and specific growth rate (SGR) had the highest values, and those in group Ⅵ were significantly higher than those in other groups (P<0.05), except WGR in group Ⅴ and FBW, GW, WGR and SGR in groups Ⅳ and Ⅴ (P>0.05).No significant differences were recorded both in survival rate (SR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) among groups (P>0.05).The feed conversion rate (FCR) in group Ⅱ was the highest, and it significantly higher than that in other groups (P<0.05).2) There were no significant differences observed in the contents of moisture, ether extract (EE) and ash in whole fish among groups (P>0.05), but the whole fish crude protein (CP) content reached the peak in group Ⅵ, which was significantly higher than that in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ (P<0.05).There were no significant differences observed in the contents of EE and CP in muscle among groups (P>0.05), but the top value of moisture content in muscle was shown in group Ⅶ, which was significantly higher than that in groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ (P<0.05).3) The Lys and valine (Val) deposition rates of all-male yellow catfish were linear with the dietary Arg/Lys ratio, which increased with the dietary Arg/Lys ratio increasing. The Arg, threonine (Thr), methionine (Met), phenylalanine (Phe), leucine (Leu), histidine (His) and isoleucine (Ile) deposition rates of all-male yellow catfish showed a quadratic regression relationship with the dietary Arg/Lys ratio. When the deposition rates of Arg, Thr, Met, Phe, Leu, His and Ile reached the maximum, the dietary Arg/Lys ratios were 0.98, 1.16, 1.17, 1.02, 1.28, 1.11 and 1.24, respectively.4) No significant differences were observed in the serum biochemical indices (the activities of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, the contents of total protein, albumin, globulin, glucose, urea nitrogen, cholesterol and triglyceride, and albumin/globulin) among groups (P>0.05).In conclusion, dietary Arg/Lys may take effects on growth performance, body composition and amino acid deposition rate of all-male yellow catfish. In this trial, the recommended dietary Arg/Lys for all-male yellow catfish is 3.07/2.61.
