腾冲红花油茶是世界著名观赏花木和我国主要木本油料植物之一，花叶可供观赏，果实可以生产被誉为“油王”的腾冲红花油茶油，具有较高的经济价值和生态价值。由于过度采挖、掠夺性利用，腾冲县野生腾冲红花油茶已濒临灭绝，许多优良种质资源正在大量丧失。文中在阐述其自然种群分类及生存现状的基础上，提出了进行种质资源调查、原地保护、异地保护等保护方案。

Due to excessive excavation and predatory use, the wild Tengchong Camellia semiserrata are endangered. A lot of excellent seed resources are disappearing. In explaining the basis of its natural populations of classifica- tion and survival status, germplasm resources investigation, in situ conservation, land protection and other protection measures were put forward.
