Abstract:In this study,Elymus nutans was taken as the research object to explore the effects of exogenousγ-Aminobutyric acid(GABA)on seed germination and seedling physiological characteristics of Elymus nutans under NaCl stress,which was of great significance for the development and utilization of saline alkali land and the ecological restoration of saline grassland.The results showed that 100 mmol·L-1 NaCl salt stress inhibited the seed germination and seedling growth of Elymus nutans.Under salt stress,the addition of 0.05~2.00 mmol·L-1GABA promoted the seed germination and seedling growth of Elymus nutans.The average increase of germination potential and germination ratio under different concentrations of GABA was 109.77%and 19.48%,respectively,compared with salt stress.Under salt stress,the addition of 0.05~2.00 mmol·L-1GABA treatment significantly increased the soluble sugar,soluble protein,proline content and antioxidant enzyme activity of Elymus nutans seedlings,and reduced malondialdehyde(MDA)content,thereby effectively reduced the oxidative damage caused by NaCl stress and improved the salt tolerance during the germination of Elymus nutans seeds.The comprehensive evaluation showed that the addition of 0.5 mmol·L-1 exogenous GABA had the best effect on promoting seed germination and seedling growth of Elymus nutans under NaCl stress,and improved the salt resistance of Elymus nutans at the germination stage.
