Ecological Crisis of Alashan Desert Grassland and Its Management Strategies

The ecological crisis presented in the Alashan Prefecture, Inner Mongolia, was reviewed. Principles and technical systems of managing the desert grassland were proposed based on the authors' exprience and research. That is, Environment improvement and crop and livestock production development have equal weight in the strategies; Improving native grasslands is the focal point, which includes airplane sowing forage species, closing degraded paddocks and developing forage production for winter supplementary feeding.
