The Bird Banding-A Strategy Research

Bird banding, as the simplest and most effective way to study the migration pattern of birds, is widely used in the world, and has played an important role. It has become an international research network in recent two years. From the collected messages of bird banding, some regularities could be found such as bird migration routes, altitude, speed, distance, as well as population dynamics and life-span etc. By this way, some profitable data could be utilized for protecting endangered bird, for using bird resources rationally, for attracting merit birds, for avoiding bird's striking aircraft, for preventing epidemic diseases from spreading, and for other biological researches. At present, near one billion dollars are annually applied and ten thousand people are engaged in bird and network. Millions of migrate bird were banded and a lot of birds have been recollected. Radiolocation, satellite and planes are used to observe birds migration in some countries. The paper also introduced the present conditions of bird bending in Europe, America and Japan, as well as the achievements and inadequacy of bird banding in China.
