| Abstract: | The endocrine mechanisms of sequential hermaphroditism were investigated in protogynous wrasse, Halichoeres trimaculatus. Administration of aromatase inhibitor and androgen both stimulated sex change, while estrogen suppressed the induced sex inversion. The results suggest that removal of estrogen is a key step to initiate sex change. |
