Abstract:Due to the widespread use of antibiotics around the world, the problem of bacterial resistance has become more and more serious, and even super-resistant bacteria such as MRSA have emerged.The search for new antibiotic alternative drugs has become an important trend in the field of medical treatment.Bacteriophages can efficiently and specifically lyse bacteria.Because their mechanism of action is completely different from that of antibiotics, it is a new type of antibacterial substance and has great research and application potential.In order to correctly evaluate the efficacy and safety of bacteriophages in animals, it is necessary to study the laws of their absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion in the body.Phages can self-proliferate while killing bacteria, and their number will also increase dramatically.Therefore, compared with traditional chemical antibacterial agents, bacteriophages have unique and complex pharmacokinetics.This review mainly focuses on the research progress of bacteriophage pharmacokinetics, and provides scientific basis for formulating clinical application of bacteriophages and safe and reasonable medication.
