| Abstract: | The moisture retention of several important soils in Shandong Province was measuredby the pressure membrance apparatus,suction tables and vapor equilibrium method.The re-sults showed that the soil moisture retention characteristics were affected by soil textureand soil structural poresize distribution.In general,the soil water constants of heavy tex-ture were higher than those of light texture for the same group,but the water constants forAndept soil were on the contrary.The results of analysing the available water capacity,moisture retention curve and thespecific water capacity of Shandong soils showed that the burozem,luvic drab soil,meadowdrap and the meadow soil had quite good water retention characteristics,Black shajiangsoil had the worst ones in all tested soils;and the red clay,rhogosol and the drab soil hadthe medium water retention ability. |
