Occurrence Regularity and Comprehensive Management of Hyphantria cunea in Northwest Shandong

Hyphantria cunea caused serious damage to forestry production in northwest Shandong.To better control the pest,its damage characteristics and occurrence regularity were systematically investigated.The pest eats various food,multiplies rapidly,and endangers seriously to trees.Hyphantria cunea has 2-3 generations per year in Northwest Shandong,and survives winter with the cocoon.Environment plays an important role in occurrence of Hyphantria cunea,in which the minimum temperature of a region is a major obstacle to its survival.The number of its generations is mainly affected by light,temperature,humidity and other factors.Quarantine,monitoring and forecasting should be strengthened in control.Use of biological,biomimetic or botanical insecticides is suggested for prevention of the young larvae.In the meanwhile,integrated management measures with manual,biological and chemical control methods combined should be applied.
