Abstract:Most of the chemicals contaminating the environment may penetrate animal organisms, causing various noxious effects there and being transferred to man via food of animal origin. It seems obligatory for veterinary medicine to play an important role in preventing environmental pollution and protecting human health. Pesticide residues may serve as a good example of the problem. Achievements and difficulties of pesticide residue analysis are discussed in view of the veterinary needs for xenobiotic toxicology.
