Study on chemical characteristics and genetic diversity of Populus deltoides wetwood in Dongting Lake

The Chemical characteristics and Genetic Diversity of wetwood proportion of 12 Populus Deltoides Varieties in Dongting Lake were Studied.The results showed that the chemical characteristics such as ash and 1% NaoH extraction content in wetwood of P.deltoides were all higher than normal heartwood;then the correlation analysis showed that the no significantly negative correlation between wetwood proportion and diameter,ash content,lignin content and pentosan content,but wetwood proportion and 1% NaoH extraction content was no significantly positive correlation;there were significant differences among wetwood proportion of 12 P.deltoides varieties,and the heritability value of wetwood among 12 P.deltoides varieties was 0.600 4,it appeared that the characteristic of wetwood depanded mainly on the genotype of the variety.The wetwood proportion within the species was no significant difference.
