A 3‐year‐old Arabian mare presented with diarrhoea and depression. During hospitalisation, the mare developed septic thrombophlebitis associated with a jugular catheter. One week later, she developed secondary bilateral tarsocrural joint septic arthritis. Following surgical intervention and intensive medical therapy, the mare recovered successfully. The case highlights an unusual and previously unreported complication of septic thrombophlebitis.  相似文献

提取鸡病毒性关节炎病毒(AVAV)内蒙古分离株(C-98株)总RNA,参考GenBank中禽呼肠孤病毒(ARV)S1133株S1基因序列设计了2对引物,应用RT—PCR技术扩增了病毒S1基因,将S1基因cDNA克隆到pGEM—T Easy载体后测序。将测定序列拼接后与参考毒株ARV-176、ARV-138、ARV-S1133、MDRV—YJL的S1基因序列进行了比较。结果显示,AVAV C-98分离株的S1基因与强毒株ARV-176株的同源性最高,达99.9%;与MDRV—YJL的同源性为99.3%,与弱毒疫苗株ARV—S1133的同源性也达97.9%;与ARV-138株的同源性最低,为81.2%。表明,AVAVC-98株与参考毒株的差异较小,与疫苗株ARV-S1133有很高的同源性。  相似文献

In order to identify variables obtained at admission that could be used to predict survival in septicemic foals, medical records of 65 foals diagnosed with septicemia were reviewed. Initially, variables were analyzed independently (univariate analysis) for association with survival. Of the physical examination and historical data examined using univariate analysis, the ability to stand at admission, respiratory rate ≥ 60 breaths per minute (bpm), and normal-appearing mucous membranes were significantly associated with survival. Foals with history of induced parturition were significantly less likely to survive. The following hematologic and serum biochemical variables determined at admission were significantly associated with survival: white blood cell count a 6,000 cells/μL, neutrophil count <4,000 cells/μL, serum albumin concentration <2.2 g/dL, serum glucose concentration <120 mg/ dL, blood pH ≥ 7.35, and positive base excess. The administration of plasma at admission was significantly associated with survival. Stepwise multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the association between survival and variables identified as significantly associated with survival in bivariate analysis. The final multivariate model selected included the variables standing, duration of clinical signs (24-hour intervals) prior to admission, respiratory rate a 60 bpm, neutropenia (> 4,000 cells/μL), and neonatal age category. The probability of survival was significantly increased for foals that were standing, had a respiratory rate a 60 bpm, and that had a neutrophil count <4,000 cells/μL at admission. Probability of survival was significantly decreased for foals that had a longer duration of clinical signs prior to admission. For each 24 hours of duration, the estimated risk of death was increased by 5.8-fold.  相似文献

AIM To investigate the effects of bortezomib (BTZ) on microRNA-223 (miR-223)/nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) signaling pathway and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory response of human monocytes. METHODS Monocytes were isolated and purified from peripheral blood of rheumatodid arthritis (RA) patients. The levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in supernatants of the monocytes were determined by ELISA, and the optimal induction time of LPS and the optimal treatment concentration of BTZ were selected according to the levels of IL-6, IL-1β and TNF-α. The monocytes were divided into control group, LPS induced group and BTZ group. The level of miR-223 in the monocytes was measured by RT-qPCR, and the protein levels of NLRP3, caspase-1, suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) and SH2 domain-containing inositol phosphatase-1 (SHIP-1) in the monocytes were determined by Western blot. RESULTS The monocytes successfully isolated and purified from the peripheral blood of RA patients were spherical, evenly distributed and regular in shape.And after LPS induction for 24 h, the cells were mostly spindle-shaped and aggregated. According to the levels of IL-6, IL-1β and TNF-α, the optimal induction time of LPS was 24 h, and the optimal concentration of BTZ was 50 nmol/L. Compared with control group, the levels of miR-223, SOCS1 and SHIP-1 in LPS induction group were significantly decreased (P<0.05), and the levels of NLRP3 and caspase-1 were significantly increased (P<0.05). Compared with LPS induction group, the levels of miR-223, SOCS1 and SHIP-1 in BTZ group were significantly increased (P< 0.05), and the levels of NLRP3 and caspase-1 were significantly lowered (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Bortezomib may block the activation of miR-223/NLRP3 signaling pathway, thus reducing the secretion of inflammatory factors in LPS-induced human monocytes.  相似文献

An experiment to examine the effect of streptobacillary arthritis on mouse populations was conducted in maturing sorghum crops in mouse-proofed pens. There were three treatment pens and three control pens in which mice with and without clinical signs of streptobacillary arthritis were introduced, respectively. A constant mouse density (533 mice ha−1) was introduced to the pens by releasing 12 mice in each pen. The sex ratio of introduced mice was also constant by releasing in each pen nine males and three females. Mean track index was lower in treatment pens than in control pens, indicating that streptobacillary arthritis reduced the activity of mice. However, this was not translated into a reduction in other population responses. Mean mouse density at harvest, percentage of female pregnant at harvest, yield loss caused by mice and a feeding index (oil card index) did not differ significantly between treatment and control groups. A plausible explanation for these findings was that mice with the clinical signs might be less active but were able to consume as much grains as mice without the clinical signs because food was in abundant supply.  相似文献

Imaging techniques have been introduced to assess the efficacy and toxicity of developing pharmaceuticals. The purpose of this study was to perform a comprehensive characterization of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in rats using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and to compare the results with data from conventional pathological examination. Arthritis was induced by collagen in 24 female Wistar rats. Micro-CT and pathological analyses were performed to assess arthritis progression. Micro-CT analysis showed marked joint destruction occurring in a time-dependent manner following collagen administration. Bone volume was significantly decreased in the tibia at weeks 3 and 4 compared to week 0 (p < 0.05 and p < 0.01, respectively). Additionally, percent bone volume was significantly reduced in the tibia at week 4 compared to week 0 (p < 0.05). In contrast, bone surface/bone volume and trabecular separation were significantly increased in the tibia of the animals at week 4 compared to week 0 (p < 0.05). Severe joint destruction with extensive inflammation, erosion of cartilage and bone, and infiltration of inflammatory cells were observed in the knee joints of the collagen-treated rats. Taken together, micro-CT made it possible to quantify CIA lesions and should be performed with pathological examination in rats.  相似文献

The present study was designed to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity and mechanism of a lipid extract from hard-shelled mussel (Mytilus coruscus) on adjuvant-induced (AIA) and collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in rats. AIA and CIA rats that received hard-shelled mussel lipid extract (HMLE group) at a dose of 100 mg/kg demonstrated significantly lower paw swelling and arthritic index, but higher body weight gain than those which received olive oil (control group). Similar results were found in arthritic rats that received New Zealand green-lipped mussel lipid extract (GMLE) at the same dosage. The levels of leukotriene B4 (LTB4), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), thromboxane B2 (TXB2) in the serum, and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, interferon-γ (INF-γ), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the ankle joint synovial fluids of HMLE group rats were significantly lower than those of control group. However, the levels of IL-4 and IL-10 in HMLE group rats were significantly higher than those in the control group. Decreased mRNA expressions of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1) and MMP13, but increased tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 1 (TIMP1) were observed in the knee joint synovium tissues of HMLE group rats when compared with the control group. No hepatotoxicity was observed in both HMLE and GMLE group rats. The present results indicated that HMLE had a similarly strong anti-inflammatory activity as GMLE. Such a strong efficacy could result from the suppression of inflammatory mediators (LTB4, PGE2, TXB2), pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, INF-γ, TNF-α) and MMPs (MMP1, MMP13), and the promotion of anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-4, IL-10) and TIMPs (TIMP1) productions.  相似文献
