We investigated changes in radiocesium concentrations in a Japanese chestnut (Castanea crenata Sieold &; Zucc.) orchard in Ibaraki prefecture for 3 years after the Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in March 2011. The radiocesium concentrations in the aboveground organs of Japanese chestnut trees were almost the same, while the concentration in the roots was the lowest among all the organs investigated. The concentration of radiocesium decreased exponentially for 3 years in nuts, leaves and current shoots. The radiocesium concentrations in soils were higher in the surface layer, and the trend of an annual decrease in radiocesium in the soils was similar to that of the natural decay of radiocesium. The transfer factor of radiocesium from soils to nuts of Japanese chestnut decreased annually. These results suggest that radiocesium adhered directly to the aboveground organs of Japanese chestnut trees in March 2011, and that the accumulation of radiocesium in nuts is mainly due to radiocesium transfer from the branches and trunk to nuts several years after the nuclear power plant accident.  相似文献

We investigated changes in the radiocesium concentration in a blueberry (Vaccinium virgatum Aiton) orchard in Fukushima prefecture to clarify the radiocesium contamination for 3 years after the Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident occurred in mid-March 2011. In the aboveground part of blueberry bushes, the concentrations of radiocesium in branches that were directly affected by radioactive fallout were the highest among the samples investigated, and the concentrations in fruits were the lowest. The concentration of radiocesium decreased exponentially in the fruits and leaves over 3 years. The radiocesium concentrations in soils were higher in the surface layer. The amount of radiocesium in organic matter on the soil surface under the canopy greatly decreased from 2011 to 2012. The transfer factor of the radiocesium from soil to blueberry fruits decreased annually. These results suggest that radiocesium adhered directly to the aboveground organs of blueberry bushes in March 2011, and it is possible that the accumulation of radiocesium in fruits is mainly due to radiocesium transfer from the branches and trunk to fruits for several years after the nuclear power plant accident.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine whether dobutamine, dopamine, or milrinone (a phosphodiesterase [PDE] III inhibitor) would support cardiac function that had been attenuated by administration of the beta-blocker, carvedilol (0.2, 0.4, or 0.8 mg/kg). Hemodynamic and cardiac parameters including the heart rate (HR), left-ventricular fractional shortening (FS), and arterial pressure were measured in six healthy dogs without cardiac disease. Carvedilol did not affect FS or arterial pressure, but decreased the HR significantly. The positive inotropic and chronotropic responses to dobutamine and dopamine were attenuated by carvedilol, whereas arterial pressure was unaffected. Milrinone did not affect the HR and decreased arterial pressure, whereas FS was significantly greater both in the control and carvedilol-treated groups. Although milrinone affect the negative chronotropic effects of carvedilol, milrinone increased FS and prevented the decrease in arterial pressure. These results suggest that inhibition of PDE III preserves cardiac contractility and hemodynamic function in the presence of carvedilol.  相似文献

Fine‐scale underwater telemetry affords an unprecedented opportunity to understand how aquatic animals respond to environmental changes. We investigated the movement patterns of an aquatic top predator, Eurasian perch (Perca fluviatilis), using a three‐dimensional acoustic telemetry system installed in Kleiner Döllnsee (25 ha), a small, shallow, mesotrophic natural lake. Adult piscivorous perch (= 16) were tagged and tracked in the whole lake at a minimum of 9‐s intervals over the course of one year. Perch increased swimming activity with higher water temperature and light intensity. Air pressure, wind speed and lunar phase also explained perch movements, but the effects were substantially smaller compared to temperature and light. Perch showed a strong diel pattern in activity, with farther swimming distances and larger activity spaces during the daytime, compared to the night‐time. To investigate the influence of prey distribution, we sampled the prey fish in both littoral and pelagic zones in both day and night monthly using gill nets. We found that the prey fish underwent diel horizontal migration, using the littoral zone during the day and the pelagic zone during the night. However, perch showed the opposite patterns, suggesting either that the prey fish avoided predation risk or that the horizontal diel migration of perch was driven by other mechanisms. Our results collectively suggest that the movement ecology of piscivorous perch is mainly governed by a foraging motivation as a function of abiotic variables, especially temperature and light.  相似文献

Pollen-mediated transgene flow is a major concern for the production of genetically modified (GM) rice. Cleistogamy is a useful tool for preventing this form of gene flow. We previously identified the cleistogamous rice mutant superwoman1-cleistogamy (spw1-cls) and determined its molecular genetic mechanism. In the present study, we cultivated spw1-cls over five years to examine effects of cleistogamy on agronomic traits. Simultaneously, we cultivated cleistogamous backcross lines created by continuous backcrossing with “Yumeaoba” (a japonica cultivar) as the recurrent parent and by application of a DNA marker. In these experimental cultivations, spw1-cls and its backcross lines showed almost equal or slightly lower, but acceptable, agronomic traits compared with each control line. We also conducted natural crossing tests in paddy fields to assess the gene containment capability of spw1-cls. In a series of field experiments, there was no natural crossing between spw1-cls (pollen donor) and pollen recipient lines, but the wild-type donor and recipient lines were crossed. Thus, the cleistogamy of the spw1-cls mutation is able to inhibit natural crossing effectively, without significant loss of commercial benefits, such as yield. We conclude that spw1-cls cleistogamy is a practical tool for gene containment in GM rice cultivation.  相似文献

To evaluate the effects of a new synbiotic consisting of Lactobacillus casei subsp. casei (Lcc) and dextran (Dex) on milk production, a total of 58 Holstein dairy cows, which became pregnant and gave birth to calves at regular intervals and lactated steadily and continuously, were selected. The study had a completely randomized design, and the animals were divided into two groups. Group A was fed with a basic diet only, and Group B was fed with a basic diet supplemented with the synbiotic consisting of freeze-dried Lcc and mixed feed containing Dex for one year from August 2004. After supplementation with the synbiotic, milk yields and components of Group B were compared with those of Group A in the August, December of 2004, April and August of 2005. Milk yields of Group B were greater than those of Group A. There were significant differences (p<0.01 or 0.05) between these groups for all values. Furthermore, total amounts of fat, protein and solid non-fat in Group B significantly increased in comparison with those of Group A. In addition, the somatic cell counts of Group A significantly increased in August of 2004 and 2005 in comparison with those of Group B. Thus, the new synbiotic consisting of Lcc and Dex can increase the milk production of Holstein dairy cows throughout the year.  相似文献

Human exploitation of wild‐living animals has been suggested to create a ‘landscape of fear’. A consequence could be that individuals surviving intensive harvesting, either as a result of behavioural plasticity and/or evolutionary change, exhibit increased average timidity. In the aquatic world, such effects are particularly well documented in passively operated fishing gears common to many commercial and recreational fisheries, such as angling, trapping or gill netting. We thus propose that an exploitation‐induced timidity syndrome should be a widespread pattern in fisheries. Importantly, we argue that the syndrome can be associated with several ecological and managerial consequences for social groups, populations, food webs, fisheries and assessment of stocks. We suggest research priorities to deepen our understanding of how exploited fish populations behaviourally respond to harvesting.  相似文献

Transgenic mice are important tools for genetic analysis. A current prominent method for producing transgenic mice involves pronuclear microinjection into 1-cell embryos. However, the total transgenic efficiency obtained using this method is less than 10%. Here, we demonstrate that highly efficient transgenesis in mice can be achieved by cytoplasmic microinjection using a hyperactive piggyBac system. In embryos in which hyPBase mRNA and pPB-CAG-TagRFP DNA were co-injected into the cytoplasm, TagRFP fluorescence was observed after the 2-cell stage; when 30 ng/µl pPB-CAG-TagRFP DNA and 30 ng/µl hyPBase mRNA were co-injected, 94.4% of blastocysts were TagRFP positive. Furthermore, a high concentration of hyPBase mRNA resulted in creation of mosaic embryos in which the TagRFP signals partially disappeared. However, suitable concentrations of injected DNA and hyPBase mRNA produced embryos in which almost all blastomeres were TagRFP positive. Thus, the hyperactive piggyBac transposon system is an easy-to-implement and highly effective method that can contribute to production of transgenic mice.  相似文献
