Swine manure and wood shavings used as a drying bed were removed from a High-Rise? hog facility following two production cycles. The manure was composted in aerated pilot-scale vessels for four weeks or a mechanically turned windrow for ten weeks. Total dry matter losses during the pilot-scale studies were 30 and 32.5 % for continuously and intermittently aerated systems, respectively. Compost from both systems was stable with emission rates of 0.07-0.11 mgCO2 h?1 gvs?1. Moisture, O2, CO2 and NH3 use/losses during the process as well as chemical properties of the initial and composted manure are presented. Incorporation of the compost at a 5% amendment rate (v/v) into a standard pine bark container medium significantly (P = 0.05) increased growth of two woody plant species. Higher amendment rates were toxic to some plants due to high initial NH4+ concentrations in the medium. The compost significantly (P=0.05) increased growth and suppressed Pythium root rot of poinsettia when incorporated at 10% (v/v) into a standard sphagnum peat mix. The compost can be utilized as a value-added disease-suppressive product in the ornamentals industry.  相似文献

Short paper fiber (SPF), a by-product of the paper mill industry, was cocomposted with broiler litter (BL) to determine decomposition rate and NH3-N loss as functions of C/N ratio and pH of the compost mixes. The SPF generally had a high C/N ratio >200 while the BL, consisting of bedding material (sawdust) and poultry manure, had a low C/N ratio of 10–12. A total of seven series (27 tests) of pilot-scale studies were conducted using two different SPFs mixed with BL. Additives used for pH control were alum (aluminum sulfate), HiClay® Alumina and sulfuric acid. Mixing ratios [SPF/(SPF+BL), kg/kg(dry basis)] used were 0.8 to 0.4. Test conditions were C/N of 17 to 49, pH of 6.6 to 8.3, initial temperatures of ?1 to 22°C, composting temperature of 60°C, water content of 50-55% w.b. and remixing two times per week. Composting temperature was controlled using forced ventilation with a high/low fan setting. Composting trials lasted two weeks. Ammonia loss, O2, CO2, compost temperatures and dry solids loss were measured. Evaluations of ammonia emissions versus initial C/N and pH showed: (1) NH3-N loss decreased as initial C/N increased, even above C/N = 38; (2) NH3-N loss decreased rapidly below pH = 7 and increased rapidly for initial pH above 8. Addition of alum and/or sulfuric acid was found to decrease NH3- N loss while HiClay® Alumina had little or no effect. Results on dry solids loss are not presented in this article.  相似文献

Despite the commercialization of a variety of different composting systems, the design and operation of composting systems to minimize the cost of producing compost remains a major goal. Evaluation of how system design and management affects the time required to stabilize compost is critical to optimizing the process. In this study, analytical equations relating biological and physical factors and compost temperature, moisture, oxygen level and decomposition rates for aerobic composting are developed. The study focused on the effects of intermittent aeration on the composting operation. A multi-parameter kinetic model in conjunction with heat and mass balance equations were used to predict and optimize the performance of composting systems. Equations evaluating airflow and on/off fan cycle times on composting temperature, oxygen and moisture were developed. Kinetic data from pilot scale experiments using three different feedstocks: municipal solid waste, biosolids/woodchips, and grass/leaves/brush were used in the derived equations to evaluate the composting systems operation.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate effects of foliar calcium application on storage of sweet cherry. Different concentrations of CaCl2 (2.4, 3.2, and 4.0 g/l) and Ca(NO3)2 (3.4, 4.6, and 5.8 g/l) were applied six times by foliar spraying on leaves and fruits of the sweet cherry variety ‘0900 Ziraat’. Harvested fruits were packaged in 500 g plastic boxes and stored for four weeks at 0 0C and 90–95?% relative humidity. During the experiment, flesh firmness, titratable acidity value (TA), pH, total soluble solids content (SSC) ratio, and weight losses were weekly assessed. The results indicated that there were positive effects of foliar calcium applications on fruit quality coupled with improved firmness, and enhancement of TA, an additional advantage for consumer acceptability.  相似文献

Study aims to investigate the effects of vermicomposts containing oil processing wastes, dairy manure, municipal open market wastes and straw on the growth, nutrient concentrations and nutrient uptakes of corn plant. For this, there different mixtures were prepared. Vermicomposts were applied with the rates of 0, 5000, 10000, and 20000 kg ha?1 to 2 kg soil containing pots. Study was conducted in growth chamber for 2 months. Vermicompost applications increased plant growth, some plant nutrient concentrations and uptake. Also, vermicomposts showed the variation on parameters depending on their mixtures. Results showed that nutrients taken by the plant increased with the vermicompost until 10000 kg ha?1 dose. Most of the nutrient concentrations such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and manganese (P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, and Mn) were not increased in plant tissues, whereas uptake of them by the plant showed a significant increase. In addition, residual soil nutrients increased with the increase in vermicompost levels.  相似文献

Adsorption method may play an important role to remove ochratoxin A (OTA) from wine by bentonite (B), nonylammonium bentonite (NB), dodecylammonium bentonite (DB), KSF-montmorillonite (KSF), and chitosan bead (CB). The optimum conditions of OTA adsorption from synthetic solutions were revealed at room temperature and pH 3.5. The adsorption equilibria of B and NB were almost established within 120 and 240 min, respectively. DB, KSF, and CB had about 90 min of equilibration time. The adsorption efficiency carried out in the synthetic OTA solution did not change remarkably when the amounts of adsorbents were 25 mg for bentonite, DB, and KSF and 100 mg for NB and CB. Furthermore, 25 mg of adsorbents was used at all adsorption studies in synthetic solution. The adsorption isotherm was fitted with mostly a Freundlich equation with respect to the correlation coefficients. The adsorption data were evaluated using Langmuir and Freundlich equations having Kf values ranging from 0.011 to 9.5 with respect to correlation coefficients (R2 = 0.900-0.977). DB and KSF have the highest adsorption capacity for OTA in synthetic solutions. In wine, the removal of OTA was succeeded at a percentage of 60-100 by KSF and CB. Furthermore, the highest adsorption capacity of OTA for red wine was obtained by using 250 mg of KSF, which caused less damage to the nature of wine and also low adsorption of polyphenols and anthcyans.  相似文献

High cost and painstaking procedures associated with fatty acid analyses of maize kernel necessitate the use of alternative methods. NIR spectroscopy offers advantages in this respect for a variety of areas such as plant breeding, food and feed industries, and biofuel production, in which different forms of maize kernel (e.g., intact kernel, flour, or oil) are used as material. We investigated the possibility of estimating maize oil quality traits by using different samples (intact kernel, flour, and oil) and conventional regression methods (multiple linear regression [MLR] and partial least squares regression [PLSR]) applied to their NIR spectra. MLR and PLSR calibration models were developed for oleic acid, linoleic acid, oleic/linoleic acid ratios, total monounsaturated fatty acid, total polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), and total saturated fatty acid by analyzing 120 maize samples. Robustness in terms of prediction accuracy of the models developed here was tested with a reserved set of samples (n = 30). The results suggested that fatty acids could be possibly estimated by calibrations developed from flour and oil samples with a high degree of accuracy, whereas intact samples did not offer satisfactory results. PLSR and MLR methods gave better results in flour and oil samples, respectively. PUFA was the trait that was most successfully estimated from both flour (for the PLSR model, standard error of the estimate [SEP] of 1.78%, relative performance to deviation [RPD] of 3.09, R2 = 0.93) and oil (for the MLR model, SEP of 0.85%, RPD of 6.52, R2 = 0.98) samples. We concluded that sample type and chemometric method should be handled as important factors in calibration development, and the effects of these factors may vary depending on the trait being analyzed.  相似文献

In this study, we aimed at the in vitro effects of anti-fibroblast growth factor-2 (anti-FGF-2 or anti-bFGF) on embryo culture in rats. In vitro effects of anti-bFGF on total embryonic development were investigated in 40 rat embryos (which were divided into four groups) (obtained from five pregnant females) at 9.5 days of gestation that were cultured in whole rat serum (WRS), and in WRS+ 2.5, 5, and 10 μg/ml anti-bFGF. After 48 h of culturing, the embryos from each group were harvested to be analysed morphologically according to a morphological scoring system and biochemically to obtain the embryo protein content. The morphological score, embryo protein content, somite number and crown-rump length of embryos indicated that embryos cultured in WRS+ anti-bFGF had significant embryonic retardation. Mean morphological scores for the embryos grown in WRS, in the presence of 2.5, 5 and 10 μg anti-FGF-2 were 61.4 ± 1.64, 46.3 ± 8.42, 27 ± 2.58 and13.6 ± 0.96 respectively. These results suggest that bFGF is very important for normal embryonic development and rat anti-bFGF neutralizes bFGF effect.  相似文献

In cement plants in Turkey CO, NO2, SO2 and particulate emissions were measured using standard measurement techniques and equipment. Emission factors are calculated by dividing the emission rates by capacity of production at the time of measurements for each plant. The results of this study show that the dominant emissions from cement production in Turkey is CO followed by NO2, dust and SO2 in decreasing order. National averages for the emission factors are calculated and compared to international emission factors. On average the Turkish dust emission factor is higher than the German factor, however NO2 and SO2 emission factors are lower in Turkey.  相似文献

Abstract

The study aimed at quantifying the rates of soil CO2 efflux under the influence of common tillage systems of moldboard plow (PT), chisel plow (CT), rotary tiller (RT), heavy disc harrow (DT), and no-tillage (NT) for 46 days in October and November in a field left fallow after wheat harvest located in southern Turkey. The NT and DT plots produced the lowest soil CO2 effluxes of 0.3 and 0.7 g m?2 h?1, respectively, relative to the other plots (P < 0.001). Following the highest rainfall amount of 87 mm on the tenth day after the tillage, soil CO2 efflux rates of all the plots peaked on the 12th day, with less influence on soil CO2 efflux in the NT plot than in the conventional tillage plots. Soil evaporation in NT (64 mmol m?2 s?1) was significantly lower than in the PT (85 mmol m?2 s?1) and RT (89 mmol m?2 s?1) tillage treatments (P < 0.01). The best multiple-regression model selected explained 46% of variation in soil respiration rates as a function of the tillage treatments, soil temperature, and soil evaporation (P < 0.001). The tillage systems of RT, PT, and CT led, on average, to 0.23, 0.22, and 0.18 g m?2 h?1 more soil CO2 efflux than the baseline of NT, respectively (P≤0.001).  相似文献
