The effects of crude extracts and an isolated compound from the leaves of milkweed, Pergularia daemia (Forssk) Choiv., on the antifeedant activity against two important lepidopteran pests, Helicoverpa armigera (Hub.) and Spodoptera litura (F.), were studied. Maximum antifeedant activity was recorded in ethyl acetate crude extract against H. armigera (70.3%) and S. litura (71.82%) at 1% concentration. Ethyl acetate crude extract was further subjected to column chromatography, which was performed using hexane as initial solvent and then by increasing the polar strength using ethyl acetate. Fractions collected at hexane and ethyl acetate (80:20) yielded 6-(4,7-hydroxy-heptyl) quinone, a novel compound which showed significant antifeedant activity against H. armigera (80.22% at 2000 ppm) and S. litura (68.31% at 2000 ppm).  相似文献

The antiinflammatory effect of solasodine (50 mg/kg p.o.), of a purified component named sobatum (50 mg/kg p.o.) and of methanol extract of Solanum trilobatum (100 mg/kg p.o.) was evaluated. All the tested articles showed significant antiinflammatory activity.  相似文献

The rice leaffolder (RLF), Cnaphalocrocis medinalis is an important pest of rice that causes severe damage in many areas of the world. The plants were transformed with fully modified (plant codon optimized) synthetic Cry1C coding sequences as well as with the hpt and gus genes, coding for hygromycin phosphotransferase and β-glucuronidase, respectively. Cry1C sequences placed under the control of doubled 35S promoter plus the AMV leader sequence, and hpt and gus genes driven by cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter, were used in this study. Embryogenic calli after cocultivation with Agrobacterium were selected on the medium containing hygromycin B. A total of 67 hygromycin-resistant plants were regenerated. PCR and Southern blot analyses of primary transformants revealed the stable integration of Cry1C coding sequences into the rice genome with predominant single copy integration. R1 progeny plants disclosed a monogenic pattern (3:1) of transgene segregation as confirmed by molecular analyses. These transgenic lines were highly resistant to rice leaffolder (RLF), Cnaphalocrocis medinalis as revealed by insect bioassay.  相似文献

Pectolinaringenin was isolated from chloroform extract of Clerodendrum phlomidis L. and was evaluated at 12.5 to 100 ppm concentrations for its effects on total protein, esterase and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activities of Earias vittella and Helicoverpa armigera. At 100 ppm, the compound reduced total protein content by 55.75% and 53.01% over control with IC50 values of 74.37 and 212.31 ppm in E. vittella and H. armigera, respectively. At 100 ppm it also reduced GST and esterase enzyme activities in E. vittella by 37.53% and 43.09% over control, with IC50 values of 133.00 and 111.76 ppm, respectively. It also reduced GST and esterase activities in H. armigera by 43.14% and 47.421% over control with IC50 values of 114.38 and 98.78 ppm, respectively. Data were analyzed for their normality using the Shapiro-Wilk test and Levene’s statistics to determine the significant deviation. Pectolinaringenin could be used for the management of agricultural pests.  相似文献

The effect of various flavonoids, lectins and phenyl β-d-glucoside on larval survival, weights and the activities of digestive (total serine protease and trypsin) and detoxifying [esterase and glutathione-S-transferase] enzymes of Helicoverpa armigera larvae at 5 and 10 days after treatment (DAT) was studied through diet incorporation assay. Flavonoids (quercetin, cinnamic acid, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, catechin, trihydroxyflavone, gentisic acid, ferulic acid, protocatechuic acid and umbelliferone) were incorporated in artificial diet at 100, 500 and 1000 ppm, lectins: groundnut leaf lectin (GLL), concavalin (ConA) and phenyl β-d-glucoside at 2.5 and 5 μg mL?1. Flavonoids such as chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and protocatechuic acid at 1,000 ppm were more toxic to H. armigera larvae at 10 DAT than quercetin, catechin, cinnamic acid, trihydroxyflavone, gentisic acid, ferulic acid and umbelliferone. Larval growth and development were significantly reduced in H. armigera larvae fed on a diet with GLL and ConA at 5 μg mL?1 compared to the larvae fed at 2.5 and 1.25 μg mL?1 concentrations. The enzyme activities of the larvae were significantly reduced in flavonoid-treated diets. The flavonoids such as chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, gentisic acid, trihydroxyflavone, catechin and protocatechuic acid, and lectins, GLL and ConA can be utilized in insect control programs.  相似文献
