A hundred and sixty female white mice, each weighing 35-40 g, were used in this study. The animals were assigned into eight groups as one control group and 7 experimental groups. Groups 2, 3 and 4 were administered N-acetylcysteine (NAC), proanthocyanidin and vitamin E alone, at doses of 100 mg/kg/body weight/day by intra-peritoneal, oral route and, intramuscular, respectively. Group 5 was administered a single dose of cyfluthrin (100 mg g/kg/body weight ∼1/3LD50) by oral, whereas Groups 6, 7 and 8 were given cyfluthrin+NAC, cyfluthrin+proanthocyanidin and cyfluthrin+vitamin E, at the same dose, respectively. The administration of the drugs was initiated following the administration of cyfluthrin, and continued until the end of the seventh day of the study. Blood samples were collected from each group, 24 h, and 3, 7 and 9 days after the administration of cyfluthrin for the assessment of blood malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities. According to the data obtained, compared to the control group, increase in the plasma MDA level of the group administered cyfluthrin alone, and decrease in erythrocyte SOD activities in some periods and CAT activities in all periods were determined. On the other hand, especially, MDA levels and CAT activities were observed to move closer to values of the control group, in the groups that were administered NAC, proanthocyanidin and vitamin E in addition to cyfluthrin. In other words, in most periods, decrease in plasma MDA levels, and increase in erythrocyte CAT and SOD activities were observed in comparison to the group administered cyfluthrin alone. Statistical analyses demonstrated significant differences to exist between the groups on the third, seventh and ninth days with respect to plasma MDA levels, and the third and ninth days with respect to erythrocyte SOD and CAT activities (P < 0.05). However no significant difference was demonstrated in any of the periods in the groups that were administered NAC, proanthocyanidin and vitamin E alone in comparison to the control group (P > 0.05). In view of the parameters examined, animals were concluded to be affected by cyfluthrin and the administration of the three compounds at the indicated doses and for the indicated periods were considered to alleviate the adverse effects of cyfluthrin partly throughout the study period.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:   The effects of the different catching methods (gillnet, longline, harpoon) on sensory, chemical (pH, total volatile base nitrogen, K -value) and microbiological (total viable count [TVC]) changes in pike perch Sander lucioperca stored in ice were investigated. The same soaking time was used for both gillnet and longline fishing. The catching method had considerable influence on the freshness quality of pike perch. The acceptable shelf life was 15 days for pike perch caught by gillnet, and 22 days for longline and harpoon. The initial concentrations of inosine monophosphate (2.4 μmol/g) in pike perch caught by gillnet were significantly lower ( P  < 0.05) than longline (4.1 μmol/g), and especially by harpoon (16.7 μmol/g). However, the initial K -values for fish caught by harpoon were significantly ( P  < 0.05) lower (24.36%) than fish caught by longline and gillnet (57.69%, 64.41%, respectively). The average K , Ki, G and H -values at rejection day in terms of sensory assessment were approximately 90, 98, 156 and 40%, respectively, for all catching methods during ice storage. However, TVC reached 7.0 log cfu/g after approximately 11 days of storage for fish caught by gillnet, 19 days for fish caught by longline and 8 days for fish caught by harpoon. The result of this study suggests that the best catching method for preserving the freshness of pike perch is longline, based on the data obtained from the sensory and microbiological analysis.  相似文献

Seed dressing with fungicides adversely affects the structure and function of beneficial soil microbial communities and consequently crop yield. This study was aimed to evaluate the impact of technical-grade fungicide tebuconazole on plant growth promoting potentials of tebuconazole-tolerant Rhizobium isolate MRP1. The performance of the isolate MRP1-inoculated pea plants grown in tebuconazole treated soils was also assessed. Generally, the three concentrations [100 (recommended dose), 200 and 300 μg kg−1 soil] of tebuconazole when used alone, adversely affected the growth, symbiosis, grain yield and nutrient uptake by pea plants. Concentration dependent phytotoxicity of tebuconazole was observed for all the measured parameters. On the contrary, fungicide tolerant Rhizobium sp. MRP1 in the presence of fungicide increased the measured parameters at all tested concentrations. As an example, when inoculant MRP1 was also used with 300 μg tebuconazole kg−1 soil, it substantially increased the root nitrogen, shoot nitrogen, root P, shoot P, seed yield and grain protein by 20, 19, 50, 31, 15 and 7%, respectively, when compared with uninoculated plants grown in fungicide-treated soils. The study suggests that the plant growth promoting Rhizobium sp. MRP1 can be used as bacterial inoculant to increase the production of pea in soils polluted with fungicides.  相似文献

Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are known to increase growth and vigor of legumes in conventional cropping systems. Considering this as a basis, this study was aimed at identifying phosphate-solubilizing (PS) rhizobacterial strains expressing higher tolerance to insecticides, fipronil and pyriproxyfen, and synthesizing plant growth regulators even amid insecticide stress. The impact of selected rhizobacteria endowed with multitude of activities was investigated on greengram, grown in soils treated with different concentrations of insecticides. The fipronil and pyriproxyfen tolerant Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain PS1 produced plant growth promoting substances, both in the presence and absence of the insecticides. Both insecticides at recommended and higher rates, in general, had phytotoxic effects and decreased phytomass, symbiotic properties, nutrients uptake, and seed yield of greengram plants. Interestingly, P. aeruginosa PS1 even when used with all concentrations of the two insecticides significantly increased the measured parameters at 50 and 80 days after sowing, compared to the plants grown in soils treated with the same concentration of each insecticide but without inoculants. P. aeruginosa PS1 can be used as biofertilizer to augment the growth of greengram exposed to insecticide-stressed soils.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the side-effects of fungicides on the physiological activities of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria with intrinsic phosphate-solubilizing potential. The fungicide-tolerant and phosphate-solubilizing bacterial strain PS19 was isolated from the mustard rhizosphere and identified as Klebsiella sp. following 16S rDNA sequencing. The Klebsiella sp. strain PS19 normally, produced plant growth promoting (PGP) substances in substantial amount. In this study, four fungicides of different chemical families (tebuconazole, hexaconazole, metalaxyl, and kitazin) at the recommended, two and three times of the recommended rates decreased the PGP attributes of the strain PS19 in fungicide-concentration dependent manner. Moreover, fungicides at the recommended dose had slight inhibitory effect while the dose higher than the recommended ones reduced the PGP traits (phosphate solubilization, salicylic acid, 2,3-dihydroxy benzoic acid, and indole-3-acetic acid production except exo-polysaccharides, hydrogen cyanate and ammonia production) significantly. Of the four fungicides, tebuconazole generally showed the maximum toxicity to the PGP activities of the strain PS19. The results of this study inferred that fungicides, which are used to control various fungal pests detrimental for the crop productivity, must be examined in vitro for their possible adverse impacts on plant-beneficial rhizobacteria before the field application. This study also revealed an additional aspect of the toxicological mechanisms of the fungicides through which they may suppress the plant growth.  相似文献

Equine babesiosis is a tick-borne protozoal disease of horses caused by Theileria equi and Babesia caballi. The disease is endemic in most tropical and subtropical areas. The aim of this paper is to assess the antioxidant status, lipid peroxidation, and oxidation products of nitric oxide (NO) in horses and mules naturally infected with T. equi and B. caballi. East and Southeast Anatolian horses and mules living in rural region of the Eastern border of Turkey were used as the material for this study. These animals are used as pack animal (3–7 years of age). Infected animals were in acute or subacute infection period. In the current study, malondialdehyde (MDA), oxidation products of NO (nitrate and nitrite), serum glutathione (GSH), vitamin E, and retinol levels were analyzed in 58 equids (horse and mule) infected with T. equi and B. caballi as well as in 44 healthy equids. Compared with controls, the level of MDA and nitrate increased significantly (P < .01, P < .05, respectively), whereas GSH concentration and levels of vitamin E decreased significantly (P < .01). There was no significant change in the level of nitrite and retinol between two groups. The results of the current study suggest that in equids infected with T. equi and B. caballi, this alteration in the lipid peroxidation, oxidants, and antioxidants may be related to the host's defenses against parasitic infection and may play a central role in the pathologic conditions associated with babesiosis.  相似文献

The spatial distribution of several air pollutants emitted from iron–steel industries in Hatay-Iskenderun industrial region in Turkey was investigated by measuring their concentrations in soil. Collected soil samples (n?=?20) were analyzed for persistent organic pollutants (POPs; i.e., polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and polychlorinated naphthalenes), anions, and trace elements. Generally, all measured POP concentrations and marker trace elements for iron–steel industry (Zn, Pb, and Cu) were high relative to those reported previously for rural and urban areas around the world, and they were comparable to those measured recently in a similar industrial region (Aliaga, Izmir, Turkey). For all investigated POPs, elements, and anions, the highest concentrations were measured at points located north of the iron–steel industries where their emissions are transported by the prevailing southerly winds. The spatial distribution and levels of POPs, elemental, and anionic concentrations indicated that the iron–steel plants in Hatay-Iskenderun region are important sources for these pollutants. Statistically significant relationships between several organic and inorganic pollutants further confirmed that they are emitted by common sources (iron–steel plants).  相似文献

In this study, four technical grade insecticides, fipronil, pyriproxyfen, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam were applied at the recommended and the higher doses to investigate their effects on plant growth-promoting activities of phosphate-solubilizing Klebsiella sp. strain PS19, isolated from mustard rhizosphere. All tested insecticides displayed a concentration-dependent inhibition in plant growth promoting traits, like, inorganic phosphate solubilization, biosynthesis of phytohormones and siderophores, of rhizobacterial strain PS19. For example, the phosphate-solubilizing activity of Klebsiella sp. PS 19 was reduced maximally by 95%, at 3900 μg l−1 pyriproxyfen over control. At the recommended rate, the magnitude of toxicity of insecticides to plant growth promoting traits was less severe compared to the higher doses. The sequence of insecticide-toxicity expressed as percent decrease, determined at highest dose rate of each insecticide, over control was: pyriproxyfen (95) = imidacloprid (95) > thiamethoxam (94) > fipronil (85), for phosphate-solubilizing activity while for salicylic acid (SA) it was: thiamethoxam > pyriproxyfen = imidacloprid > fipronil. The impact of the highest dose rate of insecticides on 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHBA) was almost equal to those observed for SA. Thiamethoxam decreased the indole acetic acid (IAA) synthesis maximally by 86% whereas fipronil had least toxicity and reduced it by 67% relative to the control. Among the experimental insecticides, pyriproxyfen at 3900 μg l−1 in general, had the greatest toxic effects for plant growth promoting activities of the test strain. The study inferred that insecticides affect the plant beneficial activities of rhizobacteria adversely. These findings are likely to add a new insight into the pest management practices.  相似文献

The fatty acid composition and oxidative stability of fish oil and syrups available in the Turkish retail market were examined in this study. The major saturated fatty acids in capsules and syrups were palmitic acid (16:0) and stearic acid (18:0). The monounsaturated fatty acid contents of fish oil products have very different results (10.71–50.46%). The results show that the label claims for total omega-3, eicosapentaenoic acid, and docosahexaenoic acid presented a reasonable accuracy for the examined products, but it was noted that some of the results showed a considerable difference with the labels.

The free fatty acid level in fish oil products was generally low (0.13–1.95% of oleic acid). Peroxide value of all examined products was below the limit of 10 meq kg?1 oils for edible oil as indicated in Codex (1999). It was detected that the p-Anisidine value of fish oil capsules (5.36–8.90) was considerably lower than for fish oil syrups (21.86–26.74). According to our results, the totox value of fish oil capsules evaluated in this study (7.08–17.35) was within acceptable limits. However, fish oil syrups (34.72–38.06) highly exceeded the upper tolerable limit (26).  相似文献

The whitefly Bemisia tabaci is a serious pest of eggplants, especially those grown undercover in polytunnels and greenhouses. Due to increasing levels of resistance of B. tabaci to a wide range of insecticides, there is now an urgent need to explore other non-chemical methods of control. In this study, Serangium parcesetosum, a ladybird, was evaluated as a possible biological control agent of B. tabaci’s winter and spring populations which infests eggplants grown undercover in Turkey. It was found that in winter, S. parcesetosum failed to control B. tabaci, even when the ladybird population was augmented six times over the course of the experiment. This contrasted with that observed in spring when, with only one introduction of the ladybird, control of the pest was gained within 3 weeks after release. In spring, the B. tabaci population in the cages receiving two and four S. parcesetosum adult per plant showed 56 and 53% reduction, respectively. The percent reduction in B. tabaci population rose to 98.6 and 98.3% in both cages, respectively, by the end of experiment. It is suggested that release of S. parcesetosum against B. tabaci during spring months may be offered as an alternative solution to increase implementation of biologically based B. tabaci management. In winter other biological control agents are needed and these need to be further explored.  相似文献
