Two enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays to measure antibody to the cell wall antigen (C-ELISA) and toxin antigen (T-ELISA) of C. pseudotuberculosis were evaluated on serum from 6 separate groups of sheep. For sheep naturally infected with C. pseudotuberculosis the sensitivity and specificity of the C-ELISA was 76% and 73% respectively and for the T-ELISA 67% and 77% respectively. For sheep slaughtered one year after artificial infection the sensitivity of both tests was greater than or equal to 83% and the specificity greater than or equal to 72%. For sheep slaughtered 4 months after artificial infection the specificity of both tests was less than 30% while the mean sensitivity was 85%. The C-ELISA in conjunction with the T-ELISA detected 92% of sheep with lung lesions. 相似文献

Two horses, presented for investigation of chronic weight loss despite normal to increased feed intake, had flat oral glucose absorption curves, suggesting malabsorption. The cause of the apparent malabsorption was not evident grossly or on light microscopic examination of the intestinal tract. Both horses survived long term and at follow-up examination had regained weight and their capacity to absorb glucose. These cases illustrate that flat glucose absorption curves may occur in horses with no obvious intestinal lesions, that they may revert to normal and that the results of these tests should be interpreted with caution. 相似文献

Weight loss in cats which eat well 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

Four cats were investigated because they lost weight while eating well. One cat was found to have hypoinsulinaemic diabetes mellitus, and another had maldigestion caused by exocrine pancreatic atrophy. An enteropathy with presumed intestinal malabsorption was diagnosed in the third case. The fourth cat had hyperthyroidism and disseminated amyloidosis. The diabetic animal has been maintained satisfactorily on daily insulin injections for 2 ½ years, but treatment in the other three cases was either unsuccessful or not attempted. Weight loss is uncommon in cats which are eating well. In investigating this syndrome, it is suggested that initially urine should be tested for glucose and faeces examined for maldigestion or malabsorption. More specific tests for diabetes mellitus, pancreatic maldigestion, intestinal malabsorption or hyperthyroidism might then be indicated. 相似文献

Cutaneous soft tissue tumours in dogs: classification, differentiation, and histogenesis 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Particular difficulty is regularly encountered in differentiating on routine morphological grounds between soft tissue tumours in dogs, especially fibrosarcoma, including myxosarcoma; haemangiopericytoma; and schwannoma. In this study we report the findings of the immunohistochemical examination of 74 canine tumours classified as soft tissue tumours by routine light microscopy. As a consequence, we propose that the morphologic diagnosis of cutaneous fibrosarcoma, haemangiopericytoma or schwannoma carries little precision in respect of tumour cell differentiation, and would support use of the term 'spindle cell tumour of canine soft tissue' to encompass this group of lesions. 相似文献
