The goal of this study is to enumerate Campylobacter in chicken meats and by-products. In the current investigation, results showed that raw chicken meats and chicken by-products were contaminated with Campylobacter ranging from <3 to 4600 MPN·g−1. Campylobacter jejuni showed a higher number compared to Campylobacter coli in the chicken samples. The current study showed that the percentage of chicken livers and gizzards harbored a higher number of Campylobacter (103–104 MPN·g−1) than other chicken parts at 33.3% and 9.2%, respectively. The different concentrations of Campylobacter between chicken meats and chicken byproducts reflect the differences in the contamination level. The data on Campylobacter concentration in chicken meats and by-products will be useful in risk analysis.  相似文献

The ichthyotoxicity and toxin composition of a red-tide producing chloromonad Fibrocapsa japonica (Toriumi and Takano) were examined. The flagellate showed the highest toxicity in mid-logarithmic phase and the lowest in the stationary phase with increased number of spherical-shaped cells. Five neurotoxic components, FjTx-I, FjTx-II, FjTx-IIIa, FjTx-IIIb and FjTx-IV, which corresponded to brevetoxin components, PbTx-1, PbTx-2, PbTx-9, PbTx-3 and oxidized PbTx-2 were tentatively identified from analysis of F. japonica toxins on TLC and HPLC. The quantity of each component fluctuated with the age and growth stage of the culture. Among the five toxic components the yield of FjTx-II per cell was highest in both logarithmic and stationary phases.  相似文献

House crows (Corvus splendens) in Selangor, Malaysia were examined for the presence of Campylobacter species, Salmonella species, Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae by serology, culture and pcr. For the detection of Campylobacter and Salmonella species swabs were taken either from the intestine or cloaca. For the detection of mycoplasmas, swabs were taken either from the choanal cleft or trachea for culture and pcr and serum samples were tested by the rapid serum agglutination (rsa) and monoclonal antibody-blocking elisa (mbelisa) for antibodies to M gallisepticum and M synoviae. For campylobacter, 25.3 per cent of the crows were positive by culture, and the species identified were Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli. No Salmonella species were isolated. Four of 24 swabs were positive for M gallisepticum dna but none gave positive results for M synoviae dna. No M gallisepticum or M synoviae antibodies were detected by rsa but 60 per cent of the sera gave positive reactions for M gallisepticum and 13 per cent gave positive reactions for M synoviae by mbelisa.  相似文献

The effects of temperature, salinity, irradiance and pH on the growth of Fibrocapsa japonica (Raphidophyceae) were examined to determine how environmental factors affect the distribution of this species. Optimal growth was observed at temperatures of 15–25 C, salinities of 25–35 parts per thousand (ppt), irradiances of 60–140 μmol quanta/m2 per s and pH between 7.5–8.5. Growth did not occur at temperatures below 10 C or above 30 C nor at salinities below 15 ppt. Fibrocapsa japonica grew when subjected to irradiances of 20–180 μmol quanta/m2 per s, and could tolerate a pH range of 6.5–8.5.  相似文献

Histological and hematological disturbance caused by Arsenic containing water were studied in mice model. Animal were divided into four groups. Control group exposed to arsenic free distilled water and 3 treatmental group exposed to the arsenic containing water with 30, 150 and 300 ppb. Blood samples and organs were collected after 40 days. Histopathological results revealed mild to severe type of necrosis and degenerative changes in kidney and liver of arsenic feed animals. Kidney of the 300 ppb group showed severe type of necrosis and degenerative changes in distal and proximal tubules. The renocytes of proximal and distal tubules were showing hydropic and fatty degeneration. Due to degenerative changes cells were showing cytoplasmic vacoulation and cytoplasmic and nuclear blebbing. Glomeruli cells were contracted and increased the bowman's spaces. Varied degrees of changes were also observed in 30 and 150 ppb exposed group. Necrosis of hepatocytes and cytoplasmic blebbing were also observed. The sinusoidal spaces were expanded due to shrinkage and necrosis of hepatocytes. Spleenocytosis occurred in spleen and the parenchymal and mesenchymal cells were replaced by connective tissue. The lymphocytes were severely damaged by arsenic toxicity. White Blood Cells (WBCs), Red Blood Cells (RBCs) and hemoglobin level in control groups were in normal range where as level were significantly decreased with the increase dose of arsenic in the respective treatmental groups. The data was analyzed statistically and was found that significant was found among the group (p<0.05).  相似文献
