Recently, a new fungal disease caused by Diaporthe angelicae (anamorph Phomopsis foeniculi) has been found with increasingly frequency on fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) in Bulgaria. Using a bioassay-guided isolation and purification procedure, different metabolites were isolated from the fungal culture filtrates. They were identified by spectroscopic methods as nectriapyrone, a pentaketide monoterpenoid, and altersolanols A and J and macrosporin, three octaketides anthracenones. Leaf puncture bioassay was applied on detached tomato leaves to prove the phytotoxic activity of the fractions and of pure compounds. Nectriapyrone and altersolanols A and J showed a modulated phytotoxicity, while macrosporin was not toxic. Altersolanol A was the most active compound.  相似文献

The effect of copper (Cu) excess (1.5, 4.7, 31, 78, 156 μM) and exogenously supplied succinate on plant growth, chlorophyll content, chlorophyll fluorescence, and isoenzym profiles of some antioxidant enzymes in maize plants was studied. Excessive Cu supply led to a reduction in the relative growth rate (RGR), tolerance index (TI), chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b contents, and the quantum yield of PSII electron transport in the light‐adapted state (ΦPSII). Copper treatment induced several changes in the anionic and cationic peroxidases (PODs), as well as superoxide dismutase (SOD) isoenzyme profiles. After 8 d of 78 μM–Cu treatment, two new anionic and two new cationic peroxidase isoenzymes in the roots were registered. Copper applied at concentrations above 31 μM resulted in higher levels of manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn‐SOD) in the roots and Cu,Zn‐superoxide dismutase (Cu,Zn‐SOD) in the leaves. However, the addition of Na‐succinate (200 μM) to the root medium prior to Cu treatment increased the capacity of the plants to partially overcome Cu toxicity.  相似文献

The essential oil of long-time stored seeds of dill (Anethum graveolens L.) from Bulgaria was analyzed by physicochemical methods, gas chromatography (GC), GC-mass spectrometry (MS) (achiral and chiral phases), and olfactometry, and its antimicrobial activity was tested by using different strains of microorganisms. More than 40 constituents of the essential dill oil, obtained from seeds stored for more than 35 years, could be identified as essential volatiles, responsible for the pleasant fresh (D-limonene) and spicy (D-carvone) odor of a high quality. As aroma impact compounds, D-carvone (50.1%) and D-limonene (44.1%) were found. Antimicrobial testings showed high activity of the essential A. graveolens oil against the mold Aspergillus niger and the yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida albicans.  相似文献

Barley seedlings (Hordeum vulgare L., cv. ‘Obzor’) were exposed for 5 d to 0, 5, 50, and 500 μM CdCl2 in nutrient solution. Cadmium (Cd) treatment caused a reduction of plant length, biomass, and leaf pigment content. The level of soluble leaf proteins was not changed significantly. SDS-PAGE revealed a slight diminution of Rubisco subunits and the appearance of a new low molecular mass band after exposure to 50 or 500 μM Cd. The antioxidative protection in leaves under Cd toxicity was studied in its complexity. Slightly diminished superoxide dismutase, enhanced catalase, and drastically increased total peroxidase activities were found at the highest Cd level. Ascorbate peroxidase activity was not changed significantly. The isoenzyme patterns of the antioxidant enzymes under study were only slightly altered without synthesis of new isoforms. The content of oxidized ascorbate increased during exposure to 50 and 500 μM Cd. The level of H2O2 rose only at 500 μM Cd without accumulation of malondialdehyde and oxidized proteins. Non-protein thiol groups increased up to four-fold after exposure to 50 and 500 μM Cd. The results are in accordance with the induction of mechanisms allowing an immobilization and sequestration of Cd in barley leaves, and suggest only minor effects via oxidative damage.  相似文献

The antioxidant activity of a commercial rectified clove leaf essential oil (Eugenia caryophyllus) and its main constituent eugenol was tested. This essential oil comprises in total 23 identified constituents, among them eugenol (76.8%), followed by beta-caryophyllene (17.4%), alpha-humulene (2.1%), and eugenyl acetate (1.2%) as the main components. The essential oil from clove demonstrated scavenging activity against the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydracyl (DPPH) radical at concentrations lower than the concentrations of eugenol, butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA). This essential oil also showed a significant inhibitory effect against hydroxyl radicals and acted as an iron chelator. With respect to the lipid peroxidation, the inhibitory activity of clove oil determined using a linoleic acid emulsion system indicated a higher antioxidant activity than the standard BHT.  相似文献
