To maintain peach and nectarine quality after harvest, low temperature storage is used. Low temperatures induce physiological disorders in peach, but the effect of cold storage on the sensory quality of the fruit before it is damaged by chilling injury syndrome remains unclear. To evaluate the cold storage effect on the sensory quality two peach cultivars (’Royal Glory’ and ‘Elegant Lady’) and two nectarines (’Ruby Diamond’ and ‘Venus’) were harvested at a standardized firmness level and subjected to quality evaluations and sensory analysis at harvest and after storage at 0 °C for 35 d. For both time points, a supplementary ripening followed such that homogeneous flesh firmness and suitability for consumption was achieved. The fruit segregation through the Durofel firmness (DF), evaluated using a non-destructively method (Durofel device), allowed the formation of a uniform group of fruit in terms of flesh firmness (FF), showing scores between 45.1 and 55.9 N. The average FF in fruit ripened immediately after harvest was 22.9 N and 25.6 N in fruit ripened after cold storage for 35 d.The “acceptability” of fruit is highly correlated with “aroma”, “sweetness”, “juiciness”, “texture” and “flavor”. Only the “acid taste” parameter had no significant correlation with “acceptability” or with the other parameters evaluated. It is possible to conclude that the sensory quality and acceptability of peach and nectarine are characteristic of each cultivar and change, depending on the time elapsed after harvest. In general, it was confirmed that nectarine cultivars have a more consistent quality than peach cultivars. 相似文献

Flour milled from waxy durum grain was incorporated into bread formulations and its effects on crumb softness and loaf volume compared to those of added fats and emulsifiers. Waxy durum had a small effect on increasing loaf volume, and little of this effect could be explained by dough height or oven spring; effects of most other additives were closely related to dough height or oven spring. For all additives, the relationship between crumb softness and loaf volume fitted a power law relationship. Waxy durum and some of the additives had a greater softening effect than predicted from their effect on volume while others produced a much firmer crumb. With only one exception, when combined with other additives waxy durum reduced compression of the crumb more than predicted on the basis of the effects on loaf volume of the additives alone. In common with some of the added lipids, during compression analysis, crumb prepared with waxy durum flour had similar levels of structural damage as crumb baked from the standard formulation; other lipids and emulsifiers produced more fragile crumb. Waxy durum flour appears to have unique effects on crumb softness. 相似文献

A vertebral cage is a hollow medical device which is used in spine surgery. By implanting the cage into the spine column,
it is possible to restore disc and relieve pressure on the nerve roots. Most cages have been made of titanium alloys but they
detract the biocompatibility. Currently PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is applied to various implants because it has good properties
like heat resistance, chemical resistance, strength, and especially biocompatibility. A new shape of vertebral cage is designed
and injection molding of PEEK is considered for production. Before injection molding of the cage, it is needed to evaluate
process conditions and properties of the final product. Variables affecting the shrinkage of the cage are considered, e.g.,
injection time, packing pressure, mold temperature, and melt temperature. By using the numerical simulation program, MOLDFLOW,
several cases are studied. Data files obtained by MOLDFLOW analysis are used for stress analysis with ABAQUS, and shrinkage
and residual stress fields are predicted. With these results, optimum process conditions are determined. 相似文献

The abrasion behavior of three kinds of warp knitted fabrics, which are normally used for upper sole of footwear, was evaluated. We measured the changes of mechanical and structural properties of each sample as abrasion cycle increased. Each sample showed similar trends in compression and surface properties but there were significant differences in abrasion rate among the samples. The mechanical properties showed remarkable differences with directions. The frictional coefficient (MIU) of fabric surface increased at the beginning of abrasion and decreased as abrasion cycles increased. The weight and thickness of the fabric linearly decreased with abrasion cycles. The surface roughness (SMD) and the compressional resilience (RC) decreased as abrasion cycles increased while compressional energy (WC) increased. 相似文献

In order to increase its hardness and gravity as well as dimension stability, the technology of hot-compressing onPaulownia wood was studied. The main factors of affecting the spring back of the compressedPaulownia samples were discussed. It was discovered that every factor in the experiment had obvious effects on wood hardness and dimension
stability of compressed wood. When the MC (Moisture Content) of experimental specimens was 13.89%, it was useful to spray
water on the surface of samples before hot pressing. The best result was the recovery of compression set could decrease from
90.69% of untreated wood to 45.51% of soaking specimens into PF (Phenol Formaldehyde) water solution. The hot pressing time
was 8 min at 190°C.

This study considered the effects of thinning on the development of compression wood in stems of 35-year-old stand of Corsican
pine (Pinus nigra L.). Part of the stand had been thinned at 5-yearly intervals and part left unthinned. Twenty trees each from the thinned
and unthinned stands were randomly selected and felled. Measurements were made on tree height, stem diameter, stem slenderness
and canopy depth. Wood samples were removed from the central part of the main log and cross-sectional measurements made on
ring width, basic density and compression wood content. Cross-sectional area of compression wood was found to be three time
higher in stems from the unthinned trees in comparison with those from the thinned trees. No significant differences in mean
radial ring width or basic density were found between treatments. Correlations indicated that, with increasing in stem diameter,
compression wood content increased in the unthinned trees, while a decline in compression was observed in the thinned trees.
Tree height was also positively correlated with compression wood content in unthinned trees, while no equivalent relationship
was observed in thinned trees. Observations from this study, while not conclusive, suggest that phototropic stimulus may be
producing stem inclinations in the unthinned stand as trees compete for space in the canopy, whereas crown competition has
been largely eliminated in the thinned stand; and that this is responsible for compression wood levels recorded in this study. 相似文献

Cortical microtubules (MTs) in differentiating compression wood tracheids of Taxus cuspidata stems were visualized by confocal laser microscopy. They were oriented obliquely at an angle of about 45° to the tracheid axis during formation of the secondary wall. Artificial inclination altered the pattern of alignment of MTs. Banding MTs were helically oriented late during the formation of the secondary walls. These results indicate that MTs might control the orientation and localized deposition of cellulose microfibrils in the secondary walls of compression wood tracheids.Part of this report was presented at the 46th annual meeting of the Japan Wood Research Society, Kumamoto, April 1996 相似文献

Compression wood is formed by the living tree to compensate for external loads. It creates wood fibers with properties undesirable in sawn products. Automatic detection of compression wood can lead to production advantages. A wood surface was scanned with a spectrometer, and compression wood was detected by analyzing the spectral composition of light reflected from the wood surface within the visible spectrum. Linear prediction models for compression wood in Norway spruce (Picea abies) were produced using multivariate analysis and regression methods. The resulting prediction coefficients were implemented in a scanning system using the MAPP2200 smart image sensor combined with an imaging spectrograph. This scanning system is capable of making a pixelwise classification of a wood surface in real time. Classification of one spruce plank was compared with analysis by scanning electron microscopy, showing that the automatic classification was correct in 11 of 14 cases. 相似文献
