Numerous grains of gibbsite surrounded by zones of chlorite were found in six samples of sediment taken from Waimea Bay off the coast of Kauai, Hawaii. The chlorite has formed from the gibbsite, and growth bands in the chlorite either are parallel to chlorite-gibbsite interfaces or are concentric around small remnants of gibbsite. Aggregates were found that appeared to be composed of two or more gibbsite grains surrounded by chlorite bands that have grown together. The index of refraction of the chlorite ranged from 1.58 to 1.60 and the chlorite displayed anomalous blue interference colors. The gibbsite was formed on land under conditions of strong weathering and strong leaching. When transported to the sea, the gibbsite was deposited in a solution containing silicic acid, magnesium, potassium, and hydrogen ions, in which it is unstable. Chlorite, a stable mineral in this solution, replaced the gibbsite.  相似文献

Inhibition of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) activity has been considered to be a promising therapy approach to treat type 2 diabetes. In this work, a novel PTP1B activity inhibitor, named FYGL (Fudan-Yueyang-G. lucidum), was screened from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum and showed an efficient PTP1B inhibitory potency with IC?? = 5.12 ± 0.05 μg/mL. FYGL is a water-soluble macromolecular proteoglycan with a protein to polysaccharide ratio of 17:77 and a viscosity-average molecular weight (M(η)) of 2.6 × 10?. The type 2 diabetic mice treated orally by FYGL showed an obvious decrease in plasma glucose level compared with the diabetic controls without drug treatment, comparable with that of diabetic mice treated with metformin, a clinical drug. The toxicity of FYGL is very low. The results indicate that FYGL may serve as a drug candidate or a health-care food for diabetic therapy or protection.  相似文献

Earthy odor is one of the most frequent and serious causes for the aroma deterioration in Chinese liquor, which causes a dirty and dusty impression. The odor in Chinese liquor is similar to that of rice husk, one kind of auxiliary material widely used as a filler in the distillation process. So it is experientially hypothesized that such odor may derive from rice husk. In this paper, the gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O) technique and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) were used to discover and identify the characteristic odoriferous zone of Chinese liquor marked by earthy odor. Geosmin was found to be responsible for this odor. The levels of the compound in ten bottled liquors and thirty liquors aging for different years belonging to four different aroma types were determined by the optimized headspace-solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) method. Quantitative analysis of bottled liquor revealed the presence of geosmin in all aroma type liquors with concentrations ranging from 1.10 μg/L to 9.90 μg/L, except for strong-aroma type liquor. Meanwhile in the aged liquors belonging to the same aroma type, geosmin was detected with significant concentrations and high odor activity values (OAVs) during different years of aging. However, geosmin was not detected in steamed rice husk nor in nonsteamed rice husk, which suggests that rice husk is not the origin of earthy odor in Chinese liquor, and there may be another origin of it during the brewing process.  相似文献

Complete genomes of four Newcastle disease virus (NDV) strains, isolated from ducks and wild birds in Guangdong province of China from 2003 to 2007, were sequenced and analyzed in this study. Pathogenicity tests in chicken embryos and chickens illustrate that D3 and R8 are lentogenic, and W4 and P4 are mesogenic strains. Phylogenetic analysis using all six genes provides a high resolution profile for genotype designation as genotype I for D3 and R8 strains and genotype VI for W4 and P4 strains. In addition, molecular dating based on different genes suggests that D3 and R8 diverged from their common ancestor at around 1998; W4 and P4 diverged from their common ancestor at around 1999. Subsequent selective pressure analysis displayed specific traits of genes evolution in all 4 strains since their divergence from the recent common ancestor. Furthermore, the geographic origins of 4 strains were deduced to be from Europe via two independent introduction events by phylogeographical analysis. This provides insights to the potential influence of waterfowl migration on NDV epidemiology.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Ageratum conyzoides plants exhibiting yellow vein symptoms, collected near Haikou, Hainan Province, China, contained begomoviral DNA-A-like molecules. The complete sequences of the molecules from two samples, Hn2 and Hn2-19, were shown to consist of 2,768 and 2,748 nucelotides (nt), respectively. These sequences have more than 97% nucleotide sequence identity, but less than 86% identity with other reported begomovirus sequences. In line with the taxonomic convention for begomoviruses, Hn2 and Hn2-19 are therefore considered to represent isolates of a distinct begomovirus species, for which the name Ageratum yellow vein China virus (AYVCNV) is proposed. Sequence alignment shows AYVCNV has arisen by recombination among viruses related to Ageratum yellow vein virus, Papaya leaf curl China virus, and an unidentified begomovirus. Southern blot analyses revealed that all plants sampled contained molecules resembling DNAbeta. DNAbeta molecules from three samples were 1,323 or 1,324 nt long and had >98% sequence identity but <81% identity with previously reported DNAbeta sequences. Infectious clones of Hn2 and its associated DNAbeta were constructed and agroinoculated to plants. Hn2 alone caused sporadic asymptomatic systemic infection of Nicotiana benthamiana, N. glutinosa, Lycopersicon esculentum, Petunia hybrida, and A. conyzoides but its accumulation was much enhanced in plants co-inoculated with DNAbeta. The co-inoculated N. benthamiana, N. glutinosa, P. hybrida, and L. esculentum plants developed leaf curling or leaf crinkling symptom; those in A. conyzoides were typical of ageratum yellow vein disease. When the DNAbeta molecules associated with four other Chinese begomoviruses were coinoculated with Hn2 to N. benthamiana and N. glutinosa, the DNAbeta molecules were replicated, and the plants developed systemic symptoms of types that were specific for each DNAbeta. This illustrates that there is less specific interaction between monopartite begomovirus and DNAbeta than between the DNA-A and DNA-B of begomoviruses with bipartite genomes.  相似文献

The effects of high temperature steam pretreatment on the change in wood moisture content (MC) and characteristics of vacuum drying were investigated in this study. Poplar and manchurian walnut woods were pretreated with high temperature steam at 100°C and 140°C, prior to vacuum drying. A comparison of the characteristics of vacuum drying between steam pretreated wood and untreated wood was carried out. The results show that during steam pretreatment, the MC of wood decreased within a few hours. The reduction of MC varied with the temperature; the higher the temperature, the faster the MC dropped. During the vacuum drying stage, the rates of drying of pretreated samples were higher than those of untreated samples when MC was below the fiber saturation point. Furthermore, the total drying time of samples treated at a steam temperature of 140°C was lower than that of untreated samples. Therefore, a vacuum procedure after steam pretreatment can effectively shorten the drying time when drying wood.  相似文献

We show that the structure demonstrated by Feng et al. (Reports, 5 August 2011, p. 729) cannot enable optical isolation because it possesses a symmetric scattering matrix. Moreover, one cannot construct an optical isolator by incorporating this structure into any system as long as the system is linear and time-independent and is described by materials with a scalar dielectric function.  相似文献

Feeding rhythm of common carp was investigated from 4°cC to 34°C. The results indicated that there was a diel feeding rhythm for both adult (630–850 g) and youth (61–91 g) at all tested temperatures. There were two main activity peaks at 8:00–11:00 a.m. and 19:00–23:00 p.m., during which feeding quantities were 10.68%–32.53% and 16.25%–33.41% of the daily intake, respectively. When water temperature dropped to below 10°C, the feeding peak concentrated at 8:00–11:00 a.m. and 19:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. At 6°C, though both adult and youth would still feed, the feeding quantities were only 0.01% and 0.35% of body mass. Daily feeding rate of adult and youth reached 1.21% and 2.63% at 14°C, respectively. Both adult and youth carps reached the maximum daily feeding rate at 28°C, being 2.84% and 12.06% of body mass, respectively. The daily feeding rate of adult and youth reduced suddenly after at 34°C, and the daily feeding rate was only 0.74% and 9.45% of body mass, respectively. There was significant difference in daily feeding rate at different water temperatures (P<0.05).  相似文献
