High salt concentration in the soil is a serious problem in vast areas of otherwise productive agricultural lands in India. Establishment of salt tolerant vegetation could be an effective way of ameliorating this problem. In an 8-year field trial on an alkali soil, growth and biomass production ofProsopis juliflora was greater in sole stand than when interplanted with the grassLeptochloa fusca, but soil improvement was greater for the mixed tree-grass treatment.Prosopis accumulated substantially more biomass nutrients when in sole stand, but total nutrient recycling was similar with and without grass. Less salt tolerant but more palatable fodder crops such asTrifolium resupinatum, T. alexandrium andMelilotus denticulata were successfully grown withProsopis after removingL. fusca in theProsopis plus grass treatment 50 months after commencement. Tentative economic analysis suggests theProsopis plus grass system gives higher returns. TheProsopis-Leptochloa system combines production with biological reclamation, and is an appropriate form of reclamation agroforestry for alkali lands.  相似文献

通过盆栽实验,研究了在不同的水分条件下栓皮栎幼苗生理特性的变化和苗木生长量的变化。研究表明,在水分胁迫初期,随土壤含水量的降低,栓皮栎叶片的净光合速率、蒸腾速率下降,而水分利用效率提高。在水分胁迫末期,由于长期的干旱胁迫,水分条件最差的一组苗木已干枯死亡,土壤含水量从38.123%下降到20.323%时,净光合速率和蒸腾速率均下降,水分利用效率也下降。随着土壤含水量的降低,苗高、地径和生物量均有下降的趋势,其中生物量下降的幅度最大。  相似文献

One way of meeting the supply demands of the wood industry is through the reduction of waste in timber processing. It has been estimated in Ghana that for every tree felled, nearly 50% of the tree volume is left in the forest in the form of branches, crownwood, and stumps. In this study, the potential of utilizing branchwood as raw material from logging residues to help meet the timber demands of the downstream processing sector was analyzed experimentally. The sawing characteristics of the branchwood of Aningeria robusta and Terminalia ivorensis with diameters in the range 10–25 cm using live sawing and cant sawing methods were determined using a randomized complete block design, 2 × 4 factorial with three replications. Experimental results indicate that, the relative lumber value yields for first and second grade boards of A. robusta and T. ivorensis branches were 25 and 20%, respectively, while the green lumber volume yields were 40 and 32%, respectively. A high proportion of sapwood and the occurrence of washboarding in T. ivorensis contributed to that species’ relatively low lumber value and volume yield. The experimental results further indicate that the sawing technique used had no significant influence on lumber yields. However, at 5% level of significance, significant differences in lumber yield existed between some of the diameter classes.  相似文献

用形态学分类法测土壤样品中丛枝菌根真菌的数量和种类分布特点,结果表明,丛枝菌根真菌广泛分布于四川农业土壤中,但其数量和种类较少,种群结构单一。共计分离鉴定出3个属18种丛枝菌根真菌,球囊霉属(Glomus)13种,无梗囊霉属(Acaulospora)2种,盾巨孢囊霉属(Scutellospora)3种,其中只有Gl.mosseae,Gl.cale-donium,Gl.constrictum的出现频率大于10%,是主要四川省农用土壤中的优势种。研究还发现,地域因素、土壤类型和土壤的理化性质以及人为因素对丛枝菌根真菌的数量和种类有显著影响(P<0.05)。  相似文献

Guifeng, Yiyang County, belongs to a seriously degraded red soil region. In 1991, Pinus elliottii and Lespedaza spp. were the species selected for the establishment of a mixed forest in the area. The results of an investigation of the soil system in a 12-year-old forest indicated the following: (1) Organic matter and total nitrogen of the forest soil to a depth of 40 cm were 88.0 and 36.0% higher, respectively, than those of a control plot; total phosphorus and available phosphorus were 40.9 and 22.3% higher than those of the control; available potassium contents were 8.13% lower than those of the control. (2) Soil aeration and the soil air regime improved. (3) Proteinase, catalase, and urease in the forest soil to a depth of 40 cm were usually higher than those in the control plot and decreased with soil depth. In Italy, new agroforestry cultural models could play an important role in the diffusion of plantation forestry timber species. We studied the stem growth rates and leaf water potentials () of common walnut (Juglans regia L.), and gravimetric soil moisture (DW) depletion during the third and fourth growing seasons in an agroforestry trial in central Italy. Since the establishment of experimental plots in 1992, walnut was intercropped with alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), with or without polyethylene (PE) mulching along tree rows. By the end of the study period, the unmulched-intercropped walnut was almost 68% smaller in stem diameter and height than the sole-unmulched control, demonstrating walnuts sensitivity to alfalfa competition. The competitive effect of alfalfa on walnut stem growth was effectively controlled/reduced by PE mulching. Stem growth rates of mulched-intercropped walnut were always lower than the control, but much higher (ca. 235% in stem diameter and height) than those of unmulched-intercropped walnut. The higher field performance of mulched-intercropped walnut compared to the un- mulched-intercropped treatment was associated with higher soil moisture and predawn and midday values during the summers driest periods. The presence of PE mulching was also associated with lower levels of soil moisture during the early and late growing season, but this did not negatively affect walnut and growth rates. These results suggest that in the climatic conditions of central Italy, competition for soil moisture between young common walnut trees and alfalfa can be substantially lowered, but not completely eliminated, by PE mulching.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

通过对相思树种更新木麻黄防护林对沿海沙地土壤化学性质的分析,结果表明:与木麻黄林分相比,在沿海沙地后沿应用相思树种造林使沙地土壤中水溶性C l-和Na+含量降低,而使表层土壤中的水溶性Ca2+含量升高;相思树种能明显地改善沙地土壤中有效养分的供给,然而,对不同的相思树种来说,其改善程度有所差异;相思树种明显地增加了沿海沙地土壤中全氮和全碳的含量,且增加的量以沙地土壤的表层最为显著。  相似文献

海南尖峰岭国家级保护区青皮林资源与乔木层群落学特征   总被引:14,自引:3,他引:14  
三分区位于尖峰岭国家级自然保护区,目前区内有海南岛保存最好的青皮林.根据1.38 hm2的样地资料,林分平均蓄积量高达469.773m3·hm-2;平均胸径28.6 cm,最大胸径143.3 cm;林木组成复杂,记载种类300多种.青皮为热带常绿季雨林的表征种和建群种,重要值为16.8,该种群的径级和年龄结构合理,具有反J曲线的正常增长型种群.聚类分析结果表明:属于典型热带常绿季雨林类型的青皮林群落分布在海拔300~650 m处,伴生树种有白茶、细子龙、野生荔枝等.调查区内有8种国家重点保护植物,其中坡垒为国家一级保护植物,青皮是关键种,该区的森林生态系统具有极高的保护价值.  相似文献

Morphological characteristics of macropores in forest soil profiles were investigated at Hitachi Ohta Experimental Watershed in Japan. Nine individual profiles at different locations (various spatial scales in a catchment) and twenty profiles at one site (a small spatial scale) were excavated to the bedrock to investigate density, origin, diameter, direction, and gradient of macropores. Macropore densities in a soil profile ranged from 3.5 to 29.1 per m and from 5.4 to 75.1 per m2, respectively. Subsurface erosion, root channels, and interactions between subsurface erosion and root channels accounted for 36.9, 36.5, and 19.0%, of the described macropores. The mean macropore diameter in organic-rich soil layer (17–20 mm) was larger than in the B horizon (11–14 mm) at both spatial scales. The dominant gradients of all macropores in the organic-rich soil layer and B horizon were at negative oblique angles. Approximately 90% of the macropores in the organic-rich soil layer and approximately 80% of the macropores in the B horizon fell within the range between −50 and 50 degree planar direction. Subsurface flow and root systems are believed to play important roles in determining the morphological characteristics of macropores. These characteristics appear to have variable influences in different soil horizons rather than at different spatial scales.
