Soil column studies were conducted with two soils to assess the effects of irrigation with wastewater on soil and groundwater quality. Upon the application of wastewater, exchange occurred between solution sodium (Na+) and exchangeable cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, K+), whereby these cations were released into solution. The average exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) of the soils increased during leaching from 9 to 21 and 28.8 to 29.7 after applying 5.0 and 3.5 l (about 7 and 6 pore volumes) of wastewater to the soils columns, respectively. Adverse effect of high Na+ concentration in the wastewater on raising ESP was less pronounced in the soil having initial high ESP than in the soil with low initial ESP. Salinity of the soils was also increased with the application of wastewater and Mg2+ and K+ were leached from the soils. These losses would be more severe on soils having a low cation exchange capacity and if, uncorrected could lead eventually to their deficiencies for plant growth. When the soil columns were leached with distilled water the flow rate of one soil decreased to zero after 2.2 pore volume indicating damage to soil structure. Irrigation with wastewater, which is generally more sodic and saline than regional groundwater, increases the rate of soil sodification of shallow groundwater. A relatively simple chromatographic model was used to estimate final ESP profiles in the soils assuming the condition of local equilibrium. This approach had a limited success for one of the soil. Since the final leached concentrations are in good agreement with those of wastewater, we attribute these differences to non-uniform flow through the column. In terms of practical soil and water management, our study reveals that relatively simple means can be useful to predict the water quality in soils, their discharge to ground water, and the hazard of soil structure deterioration.  相似文献

Basement membrane of glomerular mesangium (BMG) is one of important components which play a key role to support of the capillary loops in a renal glomerulus and completeness of BMG due to interaction of ureteric bud and metanephric mesenchyme during glomerulogenesis. As laminin contribute in extra cellular matrix and especially in basement membrane, the aim of the present study was to demonstrate the distribution of this molecule so, in this investigation specific antibody against laminin have been used in light microscopy to study development of BMG of fetal and postnatal mouse glomerular mesangium. Female inbred Balb/c mice were selected and were kept under normal condition and finding vaginal plug was assumed as day zero of pregnancy. Two pregnant mice were sacrificed by cervical dislocation in one of gestational days 13-18, respectively and their fetuses were fixed, serially sectioned and by using antibody against laminin in BMG were carried out. The same process was used for kidneys preparation at 15 postnatal days. Present data revealed that laminin showed weak reaction on day 14 of gestation. The amount of laminin increased continuously until next days of fetal life and primary of 10 days postnatal in BMG. After this period, laminin reaction did not show significant change in newborns. These data indicate that laminin appears just during the glomerulogenesis and because of continuity with vasculature which is required for Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM) and glomerular endothelial cell differentiation, laminin, is the one of major structural proteins in BMG.  相似文献

A complete diallel cross study of six local populations of Iranian melon (Eyvanaki, Abasali, Tashkandi, Hose-sorkh, Mashhadi and Nahavand) and one foreign cultivar (Ananasi) was carried out. We investigated maturity, average weight per fruit, yield and acceptable yield in the pruning conditions over a period of two planting seasons. The analysis of variance for all of the characteristics indicated highly significant differences among genotypes. Additive gene effects were most important with respect to average weight per fruit and yield, while genetic dominance effects mainly controlled fruit maturity and acceptable yield. The reciprocal effects were significant for yield, acceptable yield and fruit maturity. Nahavand and Tashkandi had significant positive general combining ability effects for yield and acceptable yield. Favourable heterosis over the better parent was found for average weight per fruit, yield and acceptable yield. Thus, there is the potential to generate superior cultivars in segregant generation and hybrid production.  相似文献

Bathua (Chenopodium album) and fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) stored in polyethylene bags and without packaging for 24 or 48 hours in a refrigerator at 5 or 30 °C in polyethylene bags. The fresh leaves were also dried (oven and sun); blanched (5, 10 or 15 min) and cooked in an open pan and a pressure cooker. The processed leaves were analyzed for total and extractable calcium and zinc content. The Ca and Zn content of these leaves varied from 970 to 2230 and 10.50 to 12.30 mg/100 g DM and the percentage HCl-extractability was 80.34 to 83.04 and 82.43 to 83.90, respectively. Non significant effects of drying and storage were observed on total Ca and Zn content and HCl-extractability while blanching and cooking resulted in significant improvement of HCl-extractability of these two minerals. Thus, cooking and blanching are good ways to improve the HCl-extractability of Ca and Zn.  相似文献

When methyl parathion is added at a given concentration to exponentially growing Chlorella cultures containing different numbers of cells, the inhibition of cell number, packed cell volume, pigment content, or photosynthesis has been found to be a function of the cell number, the inhibition being decreased with increased number of cells. Inhibition of photosynthesis has been studied further with a view to characterizing the mechanism of inhibition with a simple assumption that methyl parathion binds to a specific component in Chlorella cells to form an inhibitory complex. The concentration of methyl parathion causing 50% inhibition (I50) of photosynthetic O2 evolution increases linearly with increasing concentration of chlorophyll in the culture medium. With whole cells the inhibition constant (Ki) is 15 times greater than that with cell-free photosynthetic membranes. This shows that the cell wall acts as a permeability barrier. The relation between the I50 and Ki values and the analyses of the Hill plot of the inhibition curves reveal one binding site per 0.5 chlorophyll molecule and a cooperative binding of methyl parathion with at least three binding sites per binding molecule. Mild treatment of the photosynthetic membranes with trypsin makes the photosynthetic electron transport insensitive to the insecticide, suggesting that the binding component is proteinaceous in nature and the binding sites are located on the external surface of the membrane. The reversal of methyl parathion inhibition is parallel to that of 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethyl urea (diuron) inhibition during trypsin treatment suggesting that the binding proteins for these two inhibitors are similar.  相似文献

The highly centralized management of rangelands in northwest Iran has caused their degradation. Rangeland Management Cooperatives (RMCs) have been taken into account by the Iranian researchers and practitioners as the best mode of managing and tackling these resources. In this regard, stakeholders’ participation (i.e., the rangers) in such institutions is a substantial issue because without their close collaboration, any management scheme is likely to fail or succeed partially. Therefore, this study investigates the rangers’ participation in RMCs using the theory-triangulation method. We developed the main research question: how the explanatory variables, extracted from the social-psychological models, influence rangers’ participation in RMCs. A sample of 200 rangers participated in the survey method, of which we received 179 completed self-reported questionnaires. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Kuder-Richardson 21, the metrics that measure the consistency of items in indicator variables with the interval and binary scales, respectively. The results of path analysis unveil that job satisfaction and progressivism have a direct effect on participation, and the improved economic conditions of industries developed by the RMCs, good intrarelation, fatalism, progressivism, optimism, and cost-benefit indirectly influence participation via job satisfaction. On the basis of these results, it is concluded that to increase rangers’ participation in RMCs, which is a key factor in preventing the degradation of rangelands, RMCs’ officials need to improve the local industries benefiting from the rangelands and upgrade intracommunication skills via training. It is also suggested that all rangers, even those with fatalistic beliefs, need to be included in RMCs’ participatory activities. Finally, it is needed to assess progressivist rangers’ needs, promote optimism, and visualize the economic, social, and conservation benefits of the participation in RMCs.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We studied (i) the pH buffer capacity (pHBC) of calcareous soils varied widely in calcite and texture, (ii) the contribution of soil properties to pHBC and (iii) the significance of using a model based on calcite dissolution to estimate the pHBC of calcareous soils. The pHBC of soils was measured by adding several rates of HCl to soils (100–6500 mM H+ kg–1), in a 0.01 M CaCl2 background and an equilibration time of 24 h. The pHBC (mM H+ kg–1 pH?1) varied from 55 to 3383, with the mean of 1073. The pHBC of the soils was strongly correlated with soil CaCO3 equivalent (calcite) (r = 0.94), sand (r = ?0.72), silt (r = 0.60), EC (r = 0.63), pH (r = 0.55), and weakly (r = 0.37) but significantly with clay content. The attained pHBC values indicated that calcite was probably the main buffer system in these soils. The chemical equilibrium model successfully predicted pH titration curves based on calcite dissolution, indicating buffering of acid inputs in the calcareous soils is dominated by calcite dissolution. The model can be used to simulate acidification of calcareous soils and to provide information for making environmental management decisions.  相似文献
