In the present study, interaction between salinity (0, 40, 80, 120 mM NaCl) and vermicompost extract (VCE) on five fennel landraces (Urmia, Mashhad, Shiraz, Boushehr, Isfahan) was investigated in a factorial experiment as completely randomized design to find the best salt-tolerant landrace and potential alleviating role of VCE. Results showed that Boushehr and Isfahan were the most tolerant and sensitive landrace to salinity, respectively. Application of VCE improved germination and growth of salt-treated fennels. The amylase activity of fennels was not affected by salinity and not improved by VCE. While sodium (Na+) content of root and shoot of all salt-treated fennels increased, their potassium (K) content decreased. Under salinity stress, root K content of VCE-amended landraces was more than that of not amended ones. VCE also caused an increase in calcium (Ca) content of root of salt-treated Shiraz and Urmia landraces. In conclusion, VCE can alleviate adverse effects of salinity stress on fennel.  相似文献

Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 in seawater into chemical fuel, methanol (CH3OH), was achieved over Cu/C-co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles under UV and natural sunlight. Photocatalysts with different Cu loadings (0, 0.5, 1, 3, 5, and 7 wt%) were synthesized by the sol–gel method and were characterized by XRD, SEM, UV–Vis, FTIR, and XPS. Co-doping with C and Cu into TiO2 remarkably promoted the photocatalytic production of CH3OH. This improvement was attributed to lowering of bandgap energy, specific catalytic effect of Cu for CH3OH formation, and the minimization of photo-generated carrier recombination. Co-doped TiO2 with 3.0 wt% Cu was found to be the most active catalyst, giving a maximum methanol yield rate of 577 μmol g-cat?1 h?1 under illumination of UV light, which is 5.3-fold higher than the production rate over C-TiO2 and 7.4 times the amount produced using Degussa P25 TiO2. Under natural sunlight, the maximum rate of the photocatalytic production of CH3OH using 3.0 wt% Cu/C-TiO2 was found to be 188 μmol g-cat?1 h?1, which is 2.24 times higher than that of C-TiO2, whereas, no CH3OH was observed for P25.  相似文献

In this study, in vitro organogenesis of Gladiolus grandiflorus cultivar pink corm segments were evaluated by culturing corm calli in modified MS medium supplemented with 3% sucrose and 0.7% agar with different concentration of BAP (0, 1, 2 and 4 mg L(-1) medium) and NAA (0, 0.5, 1 and 2 mg L(-1) medium) in factorial experiment of Completely Randomized Design (CRD). In order to obtain Gladiolus calli, corm segments (Aprox. 5 x 5 x 1 mm in size) were kept in modified MS medium (Murashige and Skoog, 1962) that was supplemented with 1 mg L(-1) 2, 4-D, 3% sucrose and 0.7% agar. The results showed that increasing the concentration of BAP from 0 to 2 mg L(-1) medium simulated plantlet regeneration but no significantly effect was obtained on shoot and cormel organogenesis between 2 and 4 mg L(-1) BAP concentration in medium. Increasing of NAA content in media without BAP developed rootlet significantly. Interaction results showed that increasing BAP content against decreasing of NAA concentration stimulates the shoot and cormel proliferation.  相似文献

Genetic variation within specific fruit tree germplasms is an important tool in fruit tree breeding programs. In the present work, the genetic relationship of 31 European and Iranian (Pyrus communis L.) and Asian (Pyrus serotina Rehd) genotypes of pear were studied using 19 randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) primers. Fifteen out of the 19 primers used in this study amplified 3373 clear and reproducible bands associated with 150 loci and many of them were polymorphic. The dendrogram resulting from the unweighted pair-group method of arithmetic cluster analysis separated the cultivars into eight groups. The correlation coefficient between the cophenetic matrix and the similarity matrix was 0.82 (r = 0.82). There was a significant difference between populations and most studied genotypes clustered closely together based on their geographic origin and Iranian pears placed between two groups of pears. Results showed the suitability of RAPD analysis in genetic diversity study of pear.  相似文献

Fifteen adult female goats were orally exposed to 5.46 mg lead (as lead acetate) per kg body weight daily for 2 weeks to study the antioxidant enzymes of the erythrocyte, lipid peroxide level, total thiol groups and total antioxidant status (TAS) in plasma. Ten goats served as unexposed control. Blood samples were collected before exposure (day 0) and on days 7 and 14. Ten per cent erythrocyte haemolysate was prepared and analysed for glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), total thiol groups and lipid peroxide. TAS was determined in plasma. There was a significant (P < 0.05) increase of erythrocytic GPx, SOD, CAT, total thiol groups and TAS on day 7 which was followed by a significant (P < 0.05) decrease of all these parameters on day 14. Lipid peroxide level increased significantly (P < 0.05) and the maximum level was attained by day 14. The results obtained indicate a possible role of free radicals in lead poisoning pathogenicity.  相似文献

The antioxidant status of rats experimentally infected with Trypanosoma evansi isolated from a camel was studied using established parasitological, haematological and biochemical methods. The results indicated that infections in all rats resulted in a fulminating parasitaemia. Changes in blood parameters in T. evansi-infected rats indicated leukocytosis and a macrocytic hypochromic anaemia. A degree of anisocytosis was also observed. The activities of plasma glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and glutathione peroxidase in whole blood of infected rats were significantly higher (p<0.05 and p<0.001, respectively) compared with control. No statistically significant difference was observed in the activity of superoxide dismutase in infected and control rats. Results obtained indicated that trypanosomosis caused oxidative stress and induced antioxidant enzymes.  相似文献

Soil degradation has led crop yield to decline in many Sahelian countries and is a fundamental agricultural and economical threat for local populations. In Saria, Burkina Faso, long-term experiments are being performed to find efficient soil management practices that could improve soil fertility. A randomized block experiment comprising organic amendment (unamended control, straw at 8.3 t ha−1, manure at 10 t ha−1) coupled with mineral fertilization (no urea, urea at 60 kg ha−1) was started in 1980 with a continuous sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) cropping system. Twenty-six years after the settlement of the treatments, we compared their effects on nematode populations, community structure, and ecological indices, as well as soil physical and chemical properties at three stages of sorghum’s cropping cycle.  相似文献

This study is designated to assess the effect of the severity of Babesia ovis infection on sialic acid concentration in blood sera in naturally infected sheep. Infected animals (diseased group) comprised 38 Iranian fat-tailed sheep, about 1–3 years old, naturally infected with B. ovis, divided into four subgroups with respect to parasitemia rates (low 0.1–0.3 %, moderate 0.4–0.9 %, high 1–2.5 %, and very high >2.5 %). The parasitological diagnosis was confirmed using PCR analysis. As a control group, ten clinically healthy sheep reared under the same management and environmental conditions were also sampled. Hematological parameters and the concentrations of total sialic acid (TSA), lipid-bound sialic acid (LBSA), and protein-bound sialic acid (PBSA) were measured in both groups. Compared to controls, sialic acid concentrations showed significant increase (p?Parasitemia rate was positively correlated with sialic acid concentrations. This study demonstrated that B. ovis infection induced marked and persistent elevations of serum sialic acid concentrations. It seems that increase of serum sialic acid concentrations during parasitemia alter receptor-ligand interactions, which are known to play important role in immune response. Furthermore, sialic acid would indirectly inhibit the action of leukocytes and consequently promote the evasion of the immune response and persistence of the parasite in the host. This factor could influence the parasite-host cell adhesion, but further detailed biochemical investigations are needed to precisely explain the exact role of sialic acid in invasion process of the parasite to the host cells.  相似文献
