Characteristic ganglion-like cell proliferation observed in the skin of Djungarian hamsters was investigated using 24 male and 24 female hamsters, 1-6 months of age, to examine the anatomic location of these ganglion-like cells and their morphologic features. One abdominal skin tumor composed of these cells and resembling proliferative fasciitis in humans was also examined. Skin ganglion-like cells were rarely observed in young animals but increased in number and extent with age, especially in males. These cells were frequently seen in the ventral and medial regions of the trunk and legs rather than in the dorsal and lateral regions. Light microscopic examination of these ganglion-like cells revealed abundant vesicular basophilic cytoplasm with delicate intracytoplasmic silver stain-positive fibrils. Ultrastructurally, these cells contained abundant rough endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi complexes with dilated cisternae; intracellular collagen fibrils were present within these cisternae. Heat shock protein 47, beta-tubulin, and androgen receptor were expressed in these cells. The morphologic features of cells of one tumor resembling human proliferative fasciitis were identical to those observed in ganglion-like cells. The results of the present study suggest that these ganglion-like cells are derived from intrinsic undifferentiated mesenchymal cells in the dermis or subcutaneous adipose tissue and that any tumor-like lesion they form should be regarded as an abnormal proliferative lesion of skin ganglion-like cells rather than as proliferative fasciitis or fibroma.  相似文献

To investigate the hemodynamic effects on seven anesthetized dogs with experimentally-induced mitral insufficiency, isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN) in sustained release form (EV151) was administered at different dosages (0, 2, 8 and 16 mg/kg). The drug administration resulted in altered pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (preload), and cardiac output and total systemic resistance (afterload). Arterial pressure increased in the control group and in animals receiving 2 mg/kg, but decreased in animals 1-2 hr after receiving 8 and 16 mg/kg dosages. Cardiac output increased in animals receiving 2, 8 and 16 mg/kg dosages, with concomitant decreases in total systemic resistance. ISDN caused mild vasodilation at 2 mg/kg and severe vasodilation at 8 and 16 mg/kg. Future experiments on non-anesthetized dogs may be of benefit.  相似文献

Amino acid changes in Pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV) coat protein (CP) that enhance, decrease, or nullify the resistance-inducing activity in Capsicum plants carrying the L 3 gene have been identified. In this study, molecular events underlying the L 3 -gene-mediated resistance were analyzed through the expression of hypersensitive response (HR)-related genes, HSR203J-Cc and HIN1-Cc, and defense-related genes, PR1-Cc and PR4b-Cc, upon infection with PMMoV CP mutants. The expression kinetics of the genes correlated with the degree of restriction of virus distribution in the inoculated leaves. A total of 284 fecal samples of 89 species (43 mammalian species and 46 avian species) were examined for Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts from 1999 to 2002. Each sample was collected at the zoo located at Osaka in Japan and examined by microscopy after performing the sucrose flotation method and by two immunofluorescent assay kits for detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts. Cryptosporidium spp. was found only in a raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides), and Giardia spp. was detected in a mandarin duck (Aix galericulata) and two ruddy shelducks (Tadorna ferruginea). In this study, the prevalences of these parasites were found to be low. However, these results suggested that the infected animals could serve as a source of contamination for surface water. This is the first report about the survey of Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia spp. at a zoo in Japan.  相似文献

Pseudorabies virus (PRV) infection in resistant swine caused immunosuppression which sometimes resulted in secondary infection by other viruses or bacteria. However the mechanism of the immunosuppression is not well understood. In this study, the effect of PRV on the immune system was examined in the mouse model. Splenocytes or lymphocytes prepared from the spleen of BALB/c mice were incubated in vitro with mitogen, and the ability of cells to proliferation was measured. When the cells were incubated with PRV, the ability of cells to proliferate was inhibited, although PRV did not multiply in the lymphocytes. UV-inactivated PRV also suppressed the proliferation of mice splenocyte. This result suggests that the structural component of PRV virion might cause the immunosuppression.  相似文献

Hantaviruses are causative agents of some severe human illnesses, including hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). The viruses are maintained by rodent hosts, and humans acquire infection by inhaling virus-contaminated excreta from infected animals. To examine the epidemiology of hantavirus infections in Japan and Far East Russia, we conducted epidemiological surveys in these regions. In Japan, anti-hantavirus antibodies were found in four rodent species, Clethrionomys rufocanus, Rattus norvegicus, R. rattus, and Apodemus speciosus. Although no new HFRS cases have been officially reported over the past 20 years in Japan, one member of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force did test positive for hantavirus antibody. Repeated surveys in Far East Russia have revealed that two distinct hantavirus types cause severe HFRS in this region. Hantavirus sequences identified from A. peninsulae, fetal HFRS cases in Vladivostok, and Amur virus are highly similar to each other (> 92% identity), but they are less similar (approximately 84% identity) to the prototypical Hantaan virus, which is carried by A. agrarius. Phylogenetic analysis also indicates that Amur and A. peninsulae-associated viruses are distinct from Hantaan virus, suggesting that A. peninsulae is the reservoir animal for Amur virus, which causes severe HFRS. From HFRS patients in the Khabarovsk region, we identified viruses with nucleotide sequences that are more similar to Far East virus (> 96%identity) than to the Hantaan (88-89% identity) or Amur (81-83% identity) viruses. Phylogenetic analysis also indicates that the viruses from Khabarovsk HFRS patients are closely related to the Far East virus, and distinct from Amur virus.  相似文献

In order to determine the epidemiological link between the Salmonella Enteritidis contamination in a rat-infested chicken layer farm, an attached egg processing facility and liquid egg samples, several S. Enteritidis isolates were analyzed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and bacteriophage typing. A total of 33 S. Enteritidis strains were isolated from a total of 4,081 samples. Similar pulsed-field patterns were generated by S. Enteritidis isolates from liquid eggs, rats and effluent water. Additionally, only two phage types were detected among the S. Enteritidis isolates, PT 1b and PT 6. These results suggest that S. Enteritidis isolates from rats, egg processing facility, and liquid eggs are genetically related. Furthermore, S. Enteritidis infection in rats in layer farms poses a serious public health concern and should be included in future epidemiological studies.  相似文献
