ABSTRACT: Allozyme variation of the littleneck clam Ruditapes philippinarum was evaluated in four samples from Nameishi and Matsuo in the Ariake Sea, Ryugatake and Ushibuka in the Shiranui Sea off Kyushu Island, Japan, and in one sample from Jinzhou, China, in the Bohai Sea. A Ruditapes bruguieri sample imported from the Korean Bay off Nampo, North Korea was also studied. Among the R. philippinarum samples, heterozygosity varied from 0.265 to 0.301 and F IS estimates indicated significant homozygosity excess in 15 of 40 loci analyzed. Deviations from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium were significant in all samples ( P < 0.05). Pairwise F ST estimates indicate that genetic differences between the Chinese and Japanese samples were very low, but significantly different from zero. Mixture proportions with 95% confidence intervals of Chinese R. philippinarum in Nameishi and Matsuo were estimated at 0.4098 [0.2512, 0.5705] and 0.4899 [0.3262, 0.6540], respectively. However, genetic invasion of stocked Chinese R. philippinarum into wild populations in the Ariake Sea remains uncertain due to the low precision of the estimates caused by the high similarity of allele frequencies between Jinzhou and the Ariake Sea. 相似文献

The effects of root exclusion and planted tree species on soil nitrogen (N) dynamics were examined at two plantations, one
planted with Japanese cedar and the other with Japanese cypress. We set up ten 1 × 1 × 0.2-m-deep trenched sites and ten untrenched
control sites at each plantation. We measured the pool size and leaching of inorganic N at each site for 2 years and the net
N mineralization 1 and 2 years after trenching. Despite similar soil conditions, the cedar plantation showed higher net N
mineralization than the cypress plantation. Stopped tree uptake of N was expected to cause an increased pool size and leaching
of inorganic N at the trenched sites. Nevertheless, we found no significant increase in those variables at both plantations.
The trenched cypress sites showed no decrease in the net N mineralization during the 2 years after trenching. However, the
net nitrification at the trenched cypress sites increased remarkably at the deeper horizons in comparison with that at the
control sites. Enhanced nitrification might result from improved ammonium availability through root exclusion. Net N mineralization
at the trenched cedar sites decreased more than 60% compared with that at the control sites 2 years after trenching. Higher
nitrification potential at the cedar plantation and enhanced nitrification potential at the trenched cypress sites never resulted
in increased leaching of N, due to added fine root litter which acted as an immobilization agent for excess N, thus preventing

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from wood and their effects on artifacts are of intense interest to museum staff who must
strictly manage the preservation environment. In this study, the causal substances of deterioration were inferred by comparison
with laser Raman (LR) spectra of deterioration products. The artifact samples were deteriorated using VOCs from woods (WV
test), and using specific substances that occur in wood VOCs (SV test). The deteriorated samples were analyzed by LR spectroscopy
and the results of the WV and SV tests were compared.
Hinokitiol and acetic acid were found to be two of the main causal substances of deterioration in western red cedar. Deterioration
of iron and copper by spruce did not appear to be caused by acetic acid, as is generally assumed, but by some other unknown
compound(s). Sensitivity to wood-based VOC components depended on the type of artifact. In western red cedar, mitsudasou (litharge) was very sensitive to acetic acid, while other artifacts were sensitive to hinokitiol. The LR method used in this
study is very useful for the inference of causal substances of deterioration based on the detection of small amounts of deteriorated
products such as those generated by deterioration due to wood VOCs.

Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa Endl.) and Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) are common species for plantation forestry in Japan. Cypress is conventionally planted on sites of low fertility whereas for cedar high fertility sites are used. Objectives of this study were to compare the productivities of cypress and cedar plantations grown on adjacent sites where common properties of soils, such as pH values and C and N contents, were similar, and to relate the N cycling at their site with productivities. The stem diameter of trees, aboveground litter production and fine root biomass were measured as indices of forest productivity. Parameters of N cycling included pools of total N and mineral N (ammonium + nitrate), annual N leaching, and potentially mineralizable N. The radial stem increment of the two tree species was similar. However, cedar site had higher total basal area and annual basal increment than cypress site reflecting higher tree density on the cedar site. Aboveground litter, fine root biomass, soil organic matter, and N turnover were higher on the cedar site than on the cypress site. However, litter production and fine root biomass per unit basal area was greater at the cypress site. Phenological pattern of stem growth and periodical litter production were similar for both species during the study period (1992–2000), but showed distinct annual variations caused by the fluctuation in the ambient temperature and precipitation. Mineral N content and the N mineralization potential were greater on the cedar site, indicating greater N availability and higher total tree productivity at the cedar site than those at the cypress site. When provided with more space in the canopy to expand more needles and in the soil to develop more fine roots to exploit sufficient resources, the individual cypress trees have the potential to grow faster. The possibility of persorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) molecules from mucous epithelial cells and its mechanism were investigated in rats orally pre-immunized by BSA for 14 consecutive days. In the small and large intestines, both the BSA antigen (BSA-Ag) and its specific antibody (SpAb) were absorbed by the epithelial cells at the late apoptotic stage (ApoEp), and were subsequently transcytosed by membranes of the small vesicles. The basal cytoplasms containing highly-concentrated BSA-Ag and SpAb were occasionally fragmented into small cytoplasmic droplets that were secreted into the lamina propria. In Peyer's patches, both BSA-Ag and SpAb were more actively absorbed and transcytosed toward the dome area by the ApoEp of the dome apex than by the M cells. BSA-Ag and SpAb were finally persorbed into the portal blood and lymph, but were never secreted into the bile. They were also engulfed by macrophage-like cells in the villous lamina propria, mesenteric lymph node and spleen, and by hepatocytes in the liver. These findings suggest that sensitized soluble luminal antigens are taken up by ApoEp in the small intestine and are finally persorbed into the peripheral blood. High linear energy transfer (LET) heavy charged particles have previously been applied clinically to human cancer radiotherapy because of their excellent physical properties of selective dose distribution and higher relative biological effectiveness (RBE) for human; however, such an approach has yet to be applied to cat patients. The present study investigates the biological effectiveness of low-LET gamma-rays (0.2 keV/micro m) compared to high-LET carbon ions (114 keV/micro m) in feline T- lymphocyte FeT-J cells. Clonogenic survival analysis revealed that the RBE value of carbon ions was 2.98 relative to a 10% survival dose (D(10)) by gamma-rays, and that the inactivation cross-section in cells exposed to gamma-rays and carbon ions was 0.023 and 38.9 micro m(2), respectively. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) analysis revealed that TUNEL-positive frequency in carbon-irradiation cells is higher than for gamma-irradiated cells against exposure to the same physical doses, but that very little difference in TUNEL-positive frequency is observed between cells exposed to the respective D(10) dose of gamma-rays. Our data thus indicate that carbon ions are more effective for cell killing than gamma-rays at the same physical doses, but kill cells to an extent that is comparable to gamma-rays at the same biological doses. Carbon ion radiotherapy is therefore a promising modality for cat patients. 相似文献

We developed molecular markers for discrimination of white and blue flower color in Japanese gentian plants. White-flowered
gentians can be classified into two types, based on genetic and physiological features. One type includes four allelic variations
(gtmyb3-1, gtmyb3-2, gtmyb3-3, and gtmyb3-4) of an anthocyanin biosynthetic regulator gene (GtMYB3), distinguished by three PCR-based molecular markers. The other type contains a newly identified inactive allele (ans1) of the anthocyanidin synthase (ANS) gene with a premature stop codon generated from a 4-bp deletion in the second exon. The ans1 allele was distinguished from the active ANS allele by a cleaved amplified polymorphism sequence (CAPS) marker. The genotypes of 12 white-flowered gentian cultivars/lines
could be identified and classified as either ans1 or gtmyb3 using these four molecular markers. No white-flowered gentians contained ans1 and gtmyb3 alleles simultaneously. The mutated ANS gene co-segregated with white flower color in an F2 population, demonstrating that the CAPS marker is useful to discriminate between white and blue flowers in gentian. Markers
