In five experiments, Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) parr were found to grow better under conditions of rhythmically alternating water temperature (P<0.031), than control groups reared under stable temperature conditions. The daily temperature sums for the experimental and the control groups were carefully equalized and monitored in all five experiments. The experimental group was reared in a rhythmically alternating temperature regime, of 10.0 h of high temperature (16.0°C) and 10.0 h of low temperature (10.0°C), the temperature adjustments being made during the 2 h between the periods of fixed temperature. The control group were reared in a relatively stable temperature regime (13.00–13.98°C). The growth rate of the fish reared under the varying temperature conditions was higher (mean for all five experiments 1.96% day−1) than that for the salmon reared under stable conditions (1.85% day−1).  相似文献

A LC-MS/MS method for the detection of beauvericin and the four enniatins A, A1, B, and B1 in maize and maize silage was developed. The method uses direct injection of maize extracts without any tedious and laborious cleanup procedures. The limit of quantification was determined at 13 ng g(-1) for beauvericin and at 17, 34, 24, and 26 ng g(-1) for enniatins A, A1, B, and B1, respectively. The method was used in surveys of the compounds in fresh maize samples collected at harvest in 2005 and 2006. All samples had the same distribution of the enniatins: B > B1 > A1 > A. Enniatin B was present in 90% of the samples in 2005 and in 100% in 2006 at levels up to 489 and 2598 ng g(-1), respectively. Beauvericin contamination was more frequently detected in 2006 than in 2005 (89 and 10%, respectively) and in higher amounts (988 and 71 ng g(-1), respectively). The occurrence of beauvericin and the four enniatins was examined in 3-month-old maize silage stacks from 20 different farms. As observed in fresh maize, enniatin B was the most abundant compound in ensiled maize and was found from 19 stacks at levels up to 218 ng g(-1). The stability of enniatin B in maize silage was assessed by analyzing samples from 10 of the silage stacks taken after 3, 7, and 11 months of ensiling. Enniatin B could be detected at all locations after 11 months and appeared to be stable during ensiling.  相似文献

In this paper some of the possibilities of applying double porosity and permeability models to the problem of water infiltration in wood are explored. It is shown that the double porosity model can capture a number of commonly reported anomalies including two-stage infiltration/sorption and apparent sample length dependent transfer parameters. Starting with the double porosity model, several extensions are discussed and the type of principal behaviour possible with the models is elaborated on. Finally, a set of highly anomalous experimental results is fitted to within a reasonable accuracy by a double permeability model.  相似文献

In this paper, a statistical framework based upon shift-share analysis is employed to analyse regional differences in Norway regarding changes in harvesting levels and number of full-time equivalent employees in wood processing. Changes in harvesting levels and employment differ between regions. A tendency found is that there has been a moderate centralisation in the period 1990–2000 with respect to harvesting levels. The analysis indicates that remote municipalities harvest relatively more in periods with a high harvesting intensity, while the harvesting level is more evenly distributed among the regions in other periods. There is, however, no clear picture whether there has been a centralisation or decentralisation regarding woodbased employment. Differences between regions may therefore be explained by structural factors, for example the degree to which firms in a particular region concentrate on production of bulky commodities or more customeroriented niche production.  相似文献

The role of monooxygenases in detoxification of the pyrethroids cypermethrin and deltamethrin was examined. Four strains of sea lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis Krøyer) with normal or moderately reduced sensitivity towards the pyrethroids were tested in bioassays by exposure to the pyrethroid alone and in combination with an oxygenase inhibitor, piperonyl butoxide (PBO). The normal (baseline) sensitivity was considered as the sensitivity range for the two most sensitive strains. Pre‐treatment with PBO elevated the sensitivity (P < 0.01) compared with groups exposed to the pyrethroid only. A positive, but not statistically significant, correlation between the activity of haem peroxidases and the pyrethroid concentration immobilizing 50% of the parasites was demonstrated (ρ = 0.500 for deltamethrin and ρ = 0.310 for cypermethrin). The results indicate that cytochrome P450 monooxygenases are involved in detoxification of pyrethroids in sea lice. 14C‐Deltamethrin was absorbed in a lesser amount in a group of sea lice exposed to a mixture of the compound and PBO than in a group exposed to 14C‐deltamethrin alone. A significant difference could be demonstrated both immediately after exposure (P < 0.01) and 24 h after exposure (P < 0.05). No significant differences were found between groups pre‐treated with PBO and groups exposed to 14C‐deltamethrin only. 14C‐Deltamethrin was taken up mainly through the cuticle, especially the cuticle on the extremities of the ventral surface, and subsequently distributed throughout the body of the parasite. To be proactive in minimizing pesticide use, the public authorities in Denmark agreed in 1998 to phase out the use of pesticides on publicly owned areas by the end of 2002. A part of the agreement was an increasing focus on research into and development of new methods and implements for non-chemical weed control on paved areas. Due to a large increase in the costs of non-chemical weed control, the park authorities have to put the different types and locations of paved areas in order of priority to optimize the weed control effort. The present authors divided the paved areas into five weed control levels, dependent on placement, quality and use. For the 3 years 1999-2001, experiments with different non-chemical weed control methods were conducted on pavements at six locations in Denmark. The aim was to test the reaction of the weeds to different treatments and strategies. The efficacies of the methods were evaluated by analysis of digital images to estimate the fraction of the paved area covered with green vegetation (weed coverage). The weed coverage was used as the dependent variable in the subsequent statistical analysis. The independent variables in the model were incoming radiation, wear, area of joints in the pavement, the dying process of the weeds and the number of runs/applied energy of the mechanical or thermal weed control methods, respectively. The estimated parameters from the statistical model were used to build a simulation model, which was used to optimise five weed control strategies to fulfil the suggested weed control levels. In the suggested strategy for maximum weed control, 12 thermal weeding applications at 2-week intervals are suggested. The 'clean-up' strategy is based on one weed-brushing in late spring or early autumn.  相似文献
