González, C., Moreno, L., Fumuso, E., García, J., Rivulgo, M., Confalonieri, A., Sparo, M., Sanchez Bruni, S. Enrofloxacin‐based therapeutic strategy for the prevention of endometritis in susceptible mares. J. vet. Pharmacol. Therap. 33 , 287–294. Enrofloxacin (EFX) is often used empirically to prevent uterine infections in mares in order to improve efficiency on Commercial Embryo Transfer Farms. This study investigated the uterine distribution of EFX and its metabolite ciprofloxacin (CFX) in mares and assessed the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of EFX against various common pathogens as a basis for establishing a rational dosing schedule. Plasma and uterine pharmacokinetic (PK) studies were performed in two groups (n = 5) of healthy mares following intravenous (i.v.) administration of EFX at either 2.5 and at 5 mg/kg bodyweight. Plasma and endometrial tissue samples, taken before for up to 48 h after treatment were analysed by Reverse Phase HPLC. MIC values for wild strains of Gram‐negative (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Gram‐positive bacteria (β‐haemolytic streptococci) ranged from 0.25–2 and 1.5–3.0 μg/mL respectively. In terms of tissue distribution, the sum of the endometrial concentrations of the parent drug (EFX) and its active metabolite (CFX) (in terms of AUC), exceeded those in plasma by 249% and 941% following administration of EFX at 2.5 and 5 mg/kg respectively. After i.v. treatment with EFX at 5 mg/kg, endometrial concentrations of EFX and CFX above the MIC value were detected for 36–48 and 22–43 h posttreatment for Gram‐negative and ‐positive isolates respectively. Concentrations above MIC were maintained for much shorter periods at the lower (2.5 mg/kg) treatment dose. Based on these results, a conventional dose (5 mg/kg) of EFX given prebreeding followed by two further doses at 36–48 h postbreeding are proposed as a rational strategy for using of EFX as a preventative therapy against a variety of common bacterial strains associated with equine endometritis. 相似文献

Physico-chemical and nutritional composition from four different nopalitos (young cladodes from cacti): Blanco sin Espinas, Blanco con Espinas, Verde Valtierrilla (cultivated materials) and a wild material from the central region of México were studied at different sizes of harvesting. The first three are commercial crops. None of the tested materials exhibited superior characteristics in all of the evaluated parameters in relation to each one of them. In various cases properties of the wild crop were comparable, if not superior, to commercial ones. Some important changes were observed in total soluble solids, water content, texture, acidity and pH as affected by size of cladode and specific crop. Most cladode samples appear to be a good source of β-carotene and lutein. The presence of these compounds is important for human nutraceutical purposes. 相似文献

This study describes an occurrence of pink morning glory (Ipomoea
carnea) intoxication in goats in northern Argentina. The clinical signs
displayed by the affected animals were ataxia, lethargy, emaciation, hypertonia of the
neck muscles, spastic paresis in the hind legs, abnormal postural reactions and death. The
clinico-pathologic examination revealed that the affected animals were anemic and their
serum level of aspartate aminotransferase was significantly increased. Cytoplasmic
vacuolation in the Purkinje cells and pancreatic acinar cells was observed by histological
examination. The neuronal lectin binding pattern showed a strong positive reaction to WGA
(Triticum vulgaris), sWGA (succinylated T. vulgaris)
and LCA (Lens culinaris). Although I. carnea is common
in tropical regions, this is the first report of spontaneous poisoning in goats in
Argentina. 相似文献

Wild waterfowl and their habitats are the main reservoirs of influenza A virus (IAV)
mainly during the breeding season and prior to migration. This study describes the
molecular characterization of an IAV isolated from 240 water samples of a small wetland
during non-breeding season of migratory wild ducks in the State of Mexico, Mexico. The
results showed that the virus belongs to the H4N2 subtype and each of its eight segments
of the viral genome has similarity to IAV isolated from ducks in North America. This study
suggests that IAV can be isolated from small wetland during non-breeding season of
migrating waterfowl. 相似文献

In this study, the effects of aqueous extracts from Zygophyllum fabago L. on two plant phytopathogenic fungal species (namely, Fusarium oxyosporum f. sp. melonis and Pythium aphanidermatum) were studied under laboratory conditions. The plant extracts (10% w/v) were prepared by using deionized water and fresh tissues. Dilutions (2, 4, 6, and 8% w/v) were obtained to test their effect on the mycelial growth of the phytopathogenic species. Additionally, the recovery of the fungi after their exposure to the Z. fabago extract was analyzed. The plant extracts inhibited the growth of F. oxyosporum and P. aphanidermatum (the maximum mean inhibition that was recorded with the 10% w/v extracts was 42.9% and 85.3%, respectively). A second series of experiments demonstrated the existence of residual effects in both species. The amount of residual inhibition by the 10% w/v extracts was 28.6% in F. oxyosporum and 53.8% in P. aphanidermatum. A dose–response was clearly observed in P. aphanidermatum, while an increase in extract concentration was not associated with a significantly greater reduction in the growth of F. oxyosporum. These findings give insights into the potential of Z. fabago as a growth inhibitor of F. oxyosporum and P. aphanidermatum, thus suggesting an interesting potential role for this common weed as a source of natural fungicides. 相似文献

Evaluation of habitat requirements of small rodents and effectiveness of an ecologically‐based management in a hantavirus‐endemic natural protected area in Argentina 下载免费PDF全文
Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is a severe cardio pulmonary disease transmitted to humans by sylvan rodents found in natural and rural environments. Disease transmission is closely linked to the ecology of animal reservoirs and abiotic factors such as habitat characteristics, season or climatic conditions. The main goals of this research were: to determine the biotic and abiotic factors affecting richness and abundance of rodent species at different spatial scales, to evaluate different methodologies for studying population of small rodents, and to describe and analyze an ecologically‐based rodent management experience in a highly touristic area. A 4‐year study of small rodent ecology was conducted between April 2007 and August 2011 in the most relevant habitats of El Palmar National Park, Argentina. Management involved a wide range of control and prevention measures, including poisoning, culling and habitat modification. A total of 172 individuals of 5 species were captured with a trapping effort of 13 860 traps‐nights (1.24 individuals/100 traps‐nights). Five rodent species were captured, including 2 hantavirus‐host species, Oligoryzomys nigripes and Akodon azarae. Oligoryzomys nigripes, host of a hantavirus that is pathogenic in humans, was the most abundant species and the only one found in all the studied habitats. Our results are inconsistent with the dilution effect hypothesis. The present study demonstrates that sylvan rodent species, including the hantavirus‐host species, have distinct local habitat selection and temporal variation patterns in abundance, which may influence the risk of human exposure to hantavirus and may have practical implications for disease transmission as well as for reservoir management. 相似文献
