The composition of concentration ratios of 19 inorganic elements to Mg (hereinafter referred to as 19-element/Mg composition) was applied to chemometric techniques to determine the geographic origin (Japan or China) of Welsh onions (Allium fistulosum L.). Using a composition of element ratios has the advantage of simplified sample preparation, and it was possible to determine the geographic origin of a Welsh onion within 2 days. The classical technique based on 20 element concentrations was also used along with the new simpler one based on 19 elements/Mg in order to validate the new technique. Twenty elements, Na, P, K, Ca, Mg, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Sr, Ba, Co, Ni, Rb, Mo, Cd, Cs, La, Ce, and Tl, in 244 Welsh onion samples were analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry, and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) on 20-element concentrations and 19-element/Mg composition was applied to these analytical data, and soft independent modeling of class analogy (SIMCA) on 19-element/Mg composition was applied to these analytical data. The results showed that techniques based on 19-element/Mg composition were effective. LDA, based on 19-element/Mg composition for classification of samples from Japan and from Shandong, Shanghai, and Fujian in China, classified 101 samples used for modeling 97% correctly and predicted another 119 samples excluding 24 nonauthentic samples 93% correctly. In discriminations by 10 times of SIMCA based on 19-element/Mg composition modeled using 101 samples, 220 samples from known production areas including samples used for modeling and excluding 24 nonauthentic samples were predicted 92% correctly.  相似文献

In eastern Asia, emission of acid materials and acid depositionwill increase with industrialization in future, and freshwatersin Japan are likely to become acidified. In this article, anevaluation method for acid-neutralization by chemical weatheringwas applied to one acidified watershed in U.S.A. and three non-acidified watersheds in Japan, and effect of hydrogeochemicalproperties on chemical weathering and stream water chemistry wasdiscussed. In three non-acidified watersheds in Japan, arealchemical weathering rates of primary minerals are much largerthan those observed in U.S.A. Watersheds in both countries showno difference in mineralogy, while the soil thickness (weatheredprofile) in watersheds is contrastive between acidified and non-acidified watersheds. Therefore, it is concluded that acidity is neutralized by chemical weathering of primary minerals in thick weathered profiles in Japanese watershed. In non-acidified Japanese watersheds which has the smallest acid-neutralization capacity in three observed watersheds, stream water will not acidify even if the acid deposition increases asmuch as two or three times the observed level. From the viewpoint of Japan's nationwide streamwater chemistry, more than 90% of the watersheds have far greater acid-neutralization capacities than this watershed, and will not be acidified even in cases where the acid deposition increase as much as two or three fold.  相似文献

Pseudodynamic (PSD) lateral loading tests were conducted on conventional post and beam timber frames with plywood-sheathed shear walls to validate the dynamic model of wall panels, each with an opening of a different configuration. The lateral forces were applied step by step at the top of the wooden frames by the computer-controlled actuator, and the displacement response for the next step was computed on the basis of the input accelerogram of the 1940 El Centro earthquake scaled up to 0.4g. The test results were compared with those of the lumped mass time-history earthquake response analysis using the hysteresis model with pinching. The results of the dynamic analysis with this global model consisting of the envelope curves, unloading and reloading with pinching agreed well with the experimental results of the PSD tests of this type of earthquake record. Some parametric studies may be necessary, however, to validate the model with different earthquake records. The hysteretical parameters obtained in this study showed similar values for each of the wall panels with different opening configurations. This makes it possible to use the model and parameters for the plywood-sheathed shear walls to estimate the dynamic behavior of entire structures without conducting expensive PSD tests or shaking table tests.  相似文献

Ediacaran assemblages immediately predate the Cambrian explosion of metazoans and should have played a crucial role in this radiation. Their wider relationships, however, have remained refractory and difficult to integrate with early metazoan phylogeny. Here, we describe a frondlike fossil, Stromatoveris (S. psygmoglena sp. nov.), from the Lower Cambrian Chengjiang Lagerst?tte (Yunnan, China) that is strikingly similar to Ediacaran vendobionts. The exquisite preservation reveals closely spaced branches, probably ciliated, that appear to represent precursors of the diagnostic comb rows of ctenophores. Therefore, this finding has important implications for the early evolution of this phylum and related diploblasts, some of which independently evolved a frondose habit.  相似文献

We examined the effect of bark thickness of host trees on the ovipositional success ofSirex nitobei in relation to female body size by analyzing the relationships between female body-weight and ovipositor length and between bark thickness ofP. densiflora andP. thunbergii trees and oviposition proportion (the proportion of eggs laid to the potential female lifetime fecundity) of the woodwasp. The ovipositor length ranged from 6 to 14 mm and was correlated positively with the fresh body-weight of females. The bark thickness of host trees had no significant correlation with the oviposition proportion of large females of more than 100 mg f.wt, whereas it was correlated negatively with that of small females of less than 100 mg f.wt. Thus,P. densiflora, which has thinner bark as a whole thanP. thunbergii, may be more suitable for oviposition, especially for smaller females. Biological resources are the basic infrastructure of bioscience research. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a good experimental model for research in cereal crops and monocots and includes important genetic materials used in breeding. The availability of genetic materials, including mutants, is important for rice research. In addition, Oryza species are attractive to researchers for both finding useful genes for breeding and for understanding the mechanism of genome evolution that enables wild plants to adapt to their own habitats. NBRP-RICE contributes to rice research by promoting the usage of genetic materials, especially wild Oryza accessions and mutant lines. Our activity includes collection, preservation and distribution of those materials and the provision of basic information on them, such as morphological and physiological traits and genomic information. In this review paper, we introduce the activities of NBRP-RICE and our database, Oryzabase, which facilitates the access to NBRP-RICE resources and their genomic sequences as well as the current situation of wild Oryza genome sequencing efforts by NBRP-RICE and other institutes.  相似文献

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) yield is severely reduced by the brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stål, in Asian countries. Increasing resistance in rice against BPH can mitigate yield loss. Previous reports indicated the presence of three BPH resistance genes, BPH2, BPH17-ptb, and BPH32, in durable resistant indica rice cultivar ‘PTB33’. However, several important questions remain unclear; the genetic locations of BPH resistance genes on rice chromosomes and how these genes confer resistance, especially with relationship to three major categories of resistance mechanisms; antibiosis, antixenosis or tolerance. In this study, locations of BPH2, BPH17-ptb, and BPH32 were delimited using chromosome segment substitution lines derived from crosses between ‘Taichung 65’ and near-isogenic lines for BPH2 (BPH2-NIL), BPH17-ptb (BPH17-ptb-NIL), and BPH32 (BPH32-NIL). BPH2 was delimited as approximately 247.5 kbp between RM28449 and ID-161-2 on chromosome 12. BPH17-ptb and BPH32 were located between RM1305 and RM6156 on chromosome 4 and RM508 and RM19341 on chromosome 6, respectively. The antibiosis, antixenosis, and tolerance were estimated by several tests using BPH2-NIL, BPH17-ptb-NIL, and BPH32-NIL. BPH2 and BPH17-ptb showed resistance to antibiosis and antixenosis, while BPH17-ptb and BPH32 showed tolerance. These results contribute to the development of durable BPH resistance lines using three resistance genes from ‘PTB33’.  相似文献

The effects of environmental temperature on gelatinization properties and amylopectin structures of wheat endosperm starch were examined by isolating starches from four wheat cultivars matured in growth chambers at daytime temperatures of 15, 20, 25, or 30°C. Kernel weight and starch content per kernel were reduced by high maturation temperature. Amylose content showed no significant change at high maturation temperature in some cultivars; in other cultivars, there was a slight increase. Principal component analysis of data on relative peak areas of debranched amylopectin showed that amylopectin from wheat grown at a lower temperature had a greater proportion of shorter chains. Amylopectin branch chains were classified into three groups based on the correlation coefficients between the data of branch chain length distribution and principal component scores, degree of polymerization (DP) of 6–12, DP 13–34, and DP ≥ 35. The gelatinization temperature of starches increased markedly at a higher maturation temperature, with increases exceeding 10°C at high maturation temperatures. Gelatinization properties correlated significantly with amylopectin chain length distribution.  相似文献

Wheat starch granules were separated from waxy wheat flour by the acetic acid (pH 3.5) fractionation technique. Waxy wheat starch samples were stained red‐brown using KI/I2 solution. Subsequently, the concentration of the KI/I2 solution was increased to >2.5% KI and 1.0% I2. Then the appearance of the waxy wheat starch granules quickly became ghostlike. The internal structure of the ghost could be observed. This structure consisted of two parts with different colors: a red‐brown central part and a slightly pinkish surrounding part. Sonication of the ghost at 20 kHz for 20 sec separated the central part from the surrounding part. Each of the separated parts were subjected to gel‐filtration chromatography, and their chromatography profiles indicated only amylopectin and no amylose. The central and surrounding parts had molecular weights of 54.3 × 105 and 23.8 × 106 from Berry plots, respectively.  相似文献
