Antioxidant prenylated flavonoids from propolis collected in Okinawa, Japan   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Propolis is a resinous substance collected by honeybees from various plant sources. The composition of propolis depends upon the vegetation at the site of collection. We previously isolated four prenylated flavonoids from propolis collected in Okinawa, Japan. In this study, further fractionation of the extracts of Okinawan propolis resulted in the isolation of a new prenylated flavonoid, prokinawan, and four known compounds. The structure of prokinawan was determined by MS and NMR spectroscopic methods. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl radical scavenging and beta-carotene bleaching systems was investigated. The present study proved that the position of the geranyl or prenyl groups on the flavonoid skeleton plays an important role in exhibiting antioxidant activity.  相似文献

A better understanding of the relationships among different cropping systems, their effects on soil microbial ecology, and their effects on crop health and productivity is necessary for the development of more efficient, sustainable crop production systems. We used denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) to determine the impacts of crop rotations and crop types on bacterial and fungal communities in the soil. The communities of bacterial 16S rRNA genes and fungal 18S rRNA genes were analyzed in experimental field plots that were kept under 4 different crop rotation systems from 1999 to 2008 (continuous cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.), cabbage–lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) rotation, cabbage–radish (Raphanus sativus L. var. longipinnatus L.H. Bailey) rotation, and a 3-year crop rotation). A principal component analysis (PCA) and a canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) revealed that both the bacterial and fungal communities in bulk soils were influenced by the crop rotation systems. However, the primary factors influencing each community differed: bacterial communities were most affected by soil properties (especially carbon content), while fungal communities were influenced most strongly by rotation times. To elucidate factors that may cause differences in crop rhizosphere microbial communities, the microbial communities in the harvested cabbage rhizospheres were also analyzed. The results suggest that the fungal communities in bulk soil are related to the rhizosphere fungal communities. Our present study indicates that the microbial communities in bulk and rhizosphere soils could be managed by crop rotation systems.  相似文献

Complete nucleotide sequences of eight Japanese isolates of Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) were determined and compared with four TYLCV isolates already reported. These isolates separated into three groups – Shizuoka (Sz), Aichi (Ai), Nagasaki (Ng) – and had 99% identities within the groups. Full-length molecules of DNA-A of group Sz consist of 2791nt and those of group Ai contain 2787nt. Both were closely related to TYLCV-Is.M, although those of group Ng had 2793nt and were more closely related to TYLCV-Is. Comparison of common sequences of isolates belonging to groups Sz and Ai had substitutions of 4nt in the intergenic region and nonsynonymous substitutions at open reading frames between the groups. None of the isolates tested had DNA molecules. Agroinfection of four plant species with a DNA-A dimeric infectious clone of TYLCV-SzY, a member of group Sz, resulted in systemic infection. In 2005, severe leaf curling and yellowing were observed on tomato plants on Ishigaki Island. Because the symptoms were consistent with infection by a begomovirus, we used a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with specific primers for begomovirus DNA-A and DNA satellite component (DNA-β) and detected products of the expected sizes from symptomatic tomato plant samples. DNA sequence analyses of the PCR products revealed that the symptomatic tomato plants were associated with Ageratum yellow vein virus (AYVV) infection. We confirmed AYVV transmission from the naturally infected weed host, Ageratum conyzoides, to healthy tomato plants by the insect vector Bemisia tabaci B biotype. This report is the first of AYVV occurrence in Japan.  相似文献

The precipitation and adsorption of pentachlorophenol (PCP) on allophane was confirmed by adsorption experiments carried out at various pll values. The precipitation of PCP took place around base-unsaturated clay particles when the concentration of PCP exceeded solubility. The adsorption of PCP involves anion exchange reaction as well as physical adsorption due to van der Waals' force, and the PCP adsorbed as anions is released with greater when washed with deionized water.

Allopbane of Andosols appears to adsorb PCP largely as anions, while humus, balloysite, and allophane (molar SiO2/Al2O3 ratio about 2) seem to adsorb PCP mostly as molecules. The precipitation of PCP in mlcell might participate in the adsorption. PCP mixed with layer silicate day minerals such as illite, montmorillonite, and kaolinite sublimated by about 200°C. In contrast to this, PCP mixed or adsorbed on allophane did not sublimate by 200°C but burnt out between 250 and 500°C showing a strong exothermic reaction.  相似文献

Since Gruner's pioneer work in 19341), vermiculite has been attracting the attention of mineralogists and soil scientists with much interest, probably because of its unique behaviour on cation exchange and of a component common in most soils derived from various parent rocks. A number of papers thereafter dealt with the mineral, revealing its properties, diagenesis, and distribution in soils. However, as information has been accumulated on vermiculite, especially on clay vermiculite, it became evident that the difference between vermiculite and montmorillonite is due simply to the difference in layer charge and that the division is essentially an arbitrary one2). Walker suggested that the Mg plus glycerol test would be the only one which appeared to be universaIlY valid in the identification of vermiculite, and that although the K test was still of value as an aid in the differentiation, it could no longer be reo commended as of universal validity. In recent years, several workers4-12) indicated that interlayer materials, especially Al-hydroxyls, prevented vermiculite from contracting to 10 Å in the K test and prevented montmorillonite from expanding to 18 Å in the Mg-glycerol test. This suggests that in the light of new evidences the 14 Å mineral hitherto believed as vermiculite, chlorite, or montmorillonite by the classical test should be reexamined after removal of interlayer materials.  相似文献

We extracted polyphenols from carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.) pods, and evaluated the in vitro antioxidant activity of the crude polyphenol fraction (CPP). The total polyphenol content in CPP determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method was 19.2%. The condensed tannin content determined by the vanillin and proanthocyanidin assay systems was 4.37% and 1.36%, respectively. beta-Carotene bleaching, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging, inhibition of lipid peroxidation by the erythrocyte ghost, and microsomal assay systems were used to evaluate the antioxidant activity. CPP showed a stronger inhibitory effect against the discoloration of beta-carotene than other polyphenol compounds such as catechins and procyanidins. CPP had weaker antioxidant activity in the DPPH free radical scavenging, the erythrocyte ghost, and microsomal systems than authentic polyphenol compounds at the same concentrations. The activity adjusted by the polyphenol concentration was, however, comparable to that of authentic polyphenol compounds. Considering most carob pods are discarded and not effectively utilized at present, these results suggested that carob pods could be utilized as a functional food or food ingredient.  相似文献

1. The effect of the inhibition of urine back-flow into the colon and caeca by colostomy on the utilisation of dietary nitrogen by fowls fed on a low protein diet and receiving free or restricted water supply was investigated. 2. Colostomy caused an increase in water excretion and a resultant increase in water intake to maintain water balance. 3. Colostomy tended to decrease nitrogen balance and nitrogen utilisation (N balance/N intake) to negative values, and these decreases became significant when water was restricted (P less than 0.05). 4. Excretory uric acid, ammonia, urea and total nitrogen were significantly increased after colostomy in water-restricted fowls (P less than 0.05), but such significant effects were not observed, except for ammonia, in fowls given water ad libitum. 5. It is concluded that the back-flow of urine into the caeca plays a significantly useful role in the utilisation of nitrogen in the fowl fed on a low protein diet especially when water intake is restricted.  相似文献

1. Measurements were made in situ to determine the incorporation of intraportally infused ammonia-15N into urinary uric acid in cockerels pre-treated with methionine sulfoximine (MSM), a glutamine synthetase inhibitor. 2. The incorporation of 15N into urinary uric acid was 34% of the infused amount in MSM-treated birds. This was not significantly different from the value of 46% for control birds. 3. Pre-treatment with MSM inhibited the activity of liver glutamine synthetase to 7% of the control value and decreased the incorporation of the infused ammonia-15N into plasma glutamine amide-N to 3% of the control. 4. Increases in glutamine concentrations in the blood, liver and kidney caused by the infusion of ammonia were also completely inhibited by the MSM treatment (P less than 0.05). 5. It is concluded that in the cockerel ammonia-N can be incorporated into uric acid other than by glutamine formation.  相似文献

The adsorption of the silica in water by soils was investigated using principal river waters and soils collected in central Chile from about 34° to 41° south latitude. The adsorption of silica in water (y) was linearly proportional to the silica concentration in river waters (x) as shown by the following equation:

where a and b were constants being subject to the nature of the soils. The silica contentration in river waters appeared to relate closely to the rocks in the catchment area. and was high in rivers from volcanic ash areas. However, the salt concentration had no correlation with the silica concentration, and tended to lower to the southward with an increase in annual precipitation and a decrease in annual mean temperature. Sulphate appreciably lowered the adsorption of silica by soils, although chloride and nitrate had little effect on the adsorption. The a-value, dissolution of silica in pure water, was the largest in paddy and alluvial soils, and both the a- and b-values were less in surface soils .in comparison with those of lower horizons. Soils caused neither adsorption nor dissolution of silica at a certain silica concentration. This silica zero adsorption concentration differed greatly from soil to soil, and the largest value which was observed in the surface soil of an irrigated paddy soil was so large that it could not adsorb silica from any river water in the central Chile. In contrast to this soil, an imogolitic subsoil of an Ando soil exhibited the highest adsorption concentration, i.e. it was possible to adsorb silica from every river water in the central Chile. Humus seemed to protect soil silica from dissolution and at the same time to prevent adsorption of silica by soils. Allophanic colloids were labile in water without humic-material, readily releasing silica into the water.  相似文献
