The responses of five inter-specific lowland rice cultivars (NERICA-L-19, NERICA-L-20, NERICA-L-41, NERICA-L-42, and NERICA-L-60) and four improved Oryza sativa cultivars (FKR 19, BW 348-1, WITA 4, and SIPI 6923033) to levels of phosphorus and nitrogen fertilization were compared on a Typic Natrustalfat Kadawa in the Nigerian Sudan Savanna in 2006 and 2007 The responses of the NERICA-L eultivars to N and P fertilization were similar to the O. sativa cultivars. In a dry year (2007), the NERICA-L cultivars gave higher yields than O. sativa cultivars. Phosphorus level did not significantly affect crop physiology, yield, and yield components of all the cultivars. Pooled across cultivars, N and P levels, days to panicle initiation, mid-flowering and maturity were, respectively delayed by 17.0, 15.6 and 6.4 days in 2007 compared to 2006. NERICA-L-42 and NERICA-L-41 were the most stable, exhibiting the least difference in duration to maturity between the two years (3.5 and 4.4 days, respectively), and could therefore be more adapted to rain-fed environments prone to frequent droughts. Increasing N levels from 0 to 120 kg hal produced yield increments of 62.9 and 37.2% in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Cultivars FKR 19 and WITA 4 gave higher yields in 2006 (3940 and 3542 kg ha^-1, respectively), while in 2007, NERICA-L-42, NERICA-L^-19 and NERICA-L-20 ranked among the highest in grain yield (3935, 3807 and 3726 kg hal, respectively) and could be recommended to resource-poor farmers. a 相似文献

The aim of the present study was to determine the elimination of Salmonella by different lactic acid concentrations in microbiological media and on turkey carcass elements. The average bacteria counts in the control samples without lactic acid were: 1.8 x 10(8), 1.1 x 10(8) and 2.3 x 10(8), for S. Enteritidis, S. Anatum and S. Typhimurium, respectively. The concentration of lactic acid of 0.1% in the agar media completely inhibited the growth of all Salmonella strains. At 0.05% lactic acid concentration, the bacteria count was 2 log cycles lower and at a 0.03% solution it was 1 log cycle lower than that in the respective control samples. However, the examined bacteria developed in the presence of 0.02% and 0.01% lactic acid concentrations and their counts fell into the same log brackets. An analysis of the experimental results obtained from turkey carcass elements immersed in the lactic acid solution showed that the Salmonella identification rate was determined by the bacteria inoculum spread over the turkey carcass surface. The contamination of 10(1) CFU of Salmonella spread onto the turkey carcass was completely eliminated by immersing the carcasses in 1% or 2% lactic acid solutions. The contamination of turkey carcass elements with 10(2) CFU of S. Enteritidis and their immersion in 2% lactic acid solution for 15 min resulted in the reduction of the number of samples with Salmonella compared to the number of control samples with Salmonella. At contaminations of 10(3) CFU on the carcass surfaces, the immersions in 1% and 2% lactic acid solutions did not reduce Salmonella counts. 相似文献

The aim of the study was to observe the effect of coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E supplementation on the course of the regeneration process of the longissimus lumborum muscle after bupivacaine-induced myonecrosis as well as to determine the correlation between the level of those substances in plasma and their levels in damaged and non-damaged muscular tissue in pigs. The obtained results indicate that the course of regeneration of a damaged muscle is affected to a higher extent by coenzyme Q10 than by vitamin E. The administration of coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E has a significant impact on the increase in the level of those substances in damaged muscles and plasma of animals. 相似文献

ABSTRACT 1. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of partial (50%) or total replacement of soybean oil (SO) by black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) fat on the growth performance, coefficients of apparent nutrient digestibility, selected internal organ weights and length, pancreatic enzyme activity and gastrointestinal tract (GIT) microecology modulation, as well as microbiota activity, physiological and immunological responses in young turkey poults. 2. A total of 216, seven day old female turkeys (B.U.T 6) were randomly distributed to three dietary treatments using six replicate pens per group with 12 birds per pen. The following design of the trial was applied: SO 100% soybean oil; BSFL50 a 50/50 combination of SO and BSFL fat; or 100% BSFL fat (total replacement of SO). 3. The use of BSFL fat did not affect the growth performance, nutrient digestibility, GIT morphology, or quality of the breast and thigh muscles. However, reduced trypsin activity was noticed in the BSFL100 group, but this had no effect on digestibility. Total replacement of SO reduced proliferation of potentially pathogenic bacteria, i.e., Enterobacteriaceae spp., as well as decreasing levels of IL-6, while partial substitution lowered the TNF-α concentration. 4. The replacement of commonly used SO by BSFL fat can be successfully applied in young turkey poult nutrition. BSFL fat may be considered an antimicrobial agent and support immune responses. 相似文献

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and pyruvate kinase (PK) are key metabolic enzymes.
G6PDH has been used as a biomarker of pollution-induced carcinogenesis in fish. LDH has been used as marker of lesions in
toxicology and clinical chemistry, and PK catalyses the conversion of phosphoenol pyruvate to pyruvate, with regeneration
of ATP. The effect of different concentrations of lead nitrate on the activity of these enzymes in two different early ontogenetic
stages (embryonic and free embryonic stage) of the African catfish Clarias gariepinus was investigated. Embryo homogenates were used for measurements of G6PDH, LDH and PK activity spectrophotometrically at 340 nm
and 25°C. The ontogenetic variations of the three enzymes during early ontogeny, from the 30 h to the 168 h post-fertilisation
stage (PFS) (beginning of exogenous feeding), were studied. There was a significant decrease in activities of all three enzymes
from 30 h-PFS to 96 h-PFS, followed by a significant increase in G6PDH and LDH. PK showed insignificant fluctuations in activity.
Different patterns of enzyme activities were recorded due to exposure to different lead nitrate concentrations (100 μg/l,
300 μg/l and 500 μg/l). In the pre-hatching stage (30 h-PFS) the activity of the three enzymes increased at exposure to 100 μg/l
lead nitrate and then decreased with increasing dose. In the post-hatching stages (48 h-PFS–168 h-PFS) G6PDH activity increased
and LDH activity decreased with increasing lead concentrations. Unlike G6PDH and LDH, the PK enzyme fluctuated during the
post-hatching stages and did not reveal a specific trend of response (increase or decrease) with increasing lead concentrations.
Therefore, the measurement of G6PDH and LDH activities, but not PK activity, could be useful biomarkers of intoxication to
reveal the embryotoxic potential of lead nitrate in fish embryos. The post-hatching stages of the African catfish are more
sensitive than the pre-hatching stage (30 h-PFS) is, probably due to the protective capacity provided by the hardened chorion.
The interaction and the main effects of age and lead doses were found to be highly significant, referring to the great impact

The properties of hyaluronic acid used for treatment of acute and chronic joint disease are known for many years and this compound is widely used both in humans and animals. To obtain a therapeutic effect of a certain drug, the appropriate concentration in the target organ or tissue is important. The application of labeled compounds is one of the frequently applied techniques to estimate drug penetration into the skin and other body tissues or organs. The aim of the study was to evaluate the penetration of hyaluronic acid labeled with I-131 through the skin and its distribution within the knee joint and other internal organs in rabbits after a topical application of an ointment containing hyaluronic acid. The experiment was performed on 22 albino rabbits divided into control and examined groups. Fifteen rabbits were exposed to the multicomponent ointment containing hyaluronic acid labeled with I-131. Time of exposure was 48 hours. Hyaluronate penetrated to a high degree into the examined tissues. No significant differences in terms of leg tissue activity were observed between a leg tissue exposed to labeled ointment and that unexposed, suggesting that after topical administration, the active component of the ointment is delivered to the joint via the blood stream. Hyaluronate applied topically penetrates through the skin into the rabbit tissues and organs and into the joint fluid of both legs (exposed and not exposed). This route of administration seems to be useful for this drug delivery and allows to avoid unnecessary side effects. 相似文献
