ABSTRACT

Biochar has attracted significant attention due to the long-lasting nature, and prominent influence on soil characteristics. This study was conducted to evaluate changes in the activity of β-glucosidase enzyme (BG) in loamy and sandy loam texture soils following two winter wheat growing seasons. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replicates and four treatments. The treatments were two soils, three biochars (rice husk, corn cob and bean harvest residue), five biochar rates (BR) and five levels of mineral fertilizers (FR) or dairy effluent (DE). The fertilizers were applied at the beginning of each season, while biochars were applied only at the beginning of experiment. Soil samples were collected following the second season and analyzed for the BG activity. Addition of biochars reduced the BG activity and the decline was higher in sandy loam compared to loamy soils. Negative effect of biochar to BG activity was greater at the highest BR (3.0%) than the lower BR. Fertilizer additions along with DE biochar had significant effect on BG activity that increased with higher FR. Given the importance of BG activity in soil organic matter decomposition, biochar application can be considered a sustainable way of increase in carbon sequestration.  相似文献

Shrimp biosolids (SB) are composed of shrimp fecal matter and decomposed shrimp feed and remain as debris in the bottoms of drained ponds used to culture shrimp. These biosolids are considered waste and usually disposed of in landfills. SB is a valuable source of N, P, K and a variety of other useful plants nutrients; however, SB contains high levels of Na. Field research was conducted to evaluate the potential of SB as a fertilizer source used with and without an inorganic fertilizer source (Osmocote 14N - 6P - 12K) to grow broccoli (Brassica oleracea italica). Yield of marketable heads/ha varied with SB/Osmocote (OSM) ratios. OSM at 75 kg/ha in combination with 9.0 MT SB/ha increased heads/ha significantly compared to lesser rates of each fertilizer source. This SB/OSM fertilizer regime contained a total of 263N - 116P - 99K - 99Na/ha. The biological yield increased 13% with OSM at 150 kg/ha and SB at 9.0 MT/ha, but if OSM was increased to 300 kg/ha, yield decreased significantly by 21% probably due to excessive fertilizer salts from both sources restricting plant growth. Lettuce field bioassays after broccoli production did not indicate that either fertilizer source persisted in the soil. The sodium in SB needs to be considered carefully whenever this material is used and SB should be evaluated in experimental trials before commercial use on other crops.  相似文献

The biochemical composition of the invasive ctenophore, Mnemiopsis leidyi from the southern Caspian Sea was analysed in terms of total fractions of protein, lipid, ninhydrin-positive substances (NPS), polysaccharides (PS) and low molecular- weight carbohydrates (LMC). The sum of organic substances per gram dry weight was 84.2 mg g−1. Protein was the major organic fraction followed by lipid and NPS. The NPS/ protein and LNC/PS ratio were 0.45 and 0.50 respectively. Starvation of M. leidyi for a 5-day period resulted in a 32.7% reduction of total organic content. These data will be important in evaluating the feeding condition of M. leidyi specimens from the field. Feeding by psyllid nymphs causes “Psyllid yellows,” a characteristic yellowing of shoots which results in a dramatic loss of tuber yield. If psyllid infestation is not controlled, the onset of shoot yellowing and growth reductions can occur within two weeks. When insecticides are applied after yellowing, recovery of plants often is not complete. In this study comparisons were made of the physiology and growth of tops and tubers of recovered and permanently injured potatoes of the cultivars ‘Denali,’ ‘Kennebec,’ and ‘Norgold Russet.’ Permanently injured plants senesced rapidly, developed less shoot growth, aerial tubers and shortened and thickened internodes. They had lower tuber yields than plants that recovered. Permanently injured ‘Denali’ developed shoots on old flowering stems. In permanently injured plants of all cultivars, the tubers were small and badly misshapen but numbers increased. In recovered ‘Kennebec’ plants tubers were also misshapen, but were of average size. Tubers of recovered ‘Denali’ and ‘Norgold Russet’ were of acceptable shape. In samplings made during tuber growth, dry weight percentages of total soluble sugars, sucrose and glucose of tubers from permanently injured plants were found to be the same as those of recovered plants. In all cultivars, starch percentages of tubers from permanently injured plants were higher than that of the recovered, but the pattern of carbohydrate content changes was similar for permanently injured and recovered cultivars.  相似文献

As no information is available regarding the efficacy of using rice protein concentrate (RPC) to replace fishmeal (FM) in diets for European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), a trial was conducted to determine the optimum inclusion for European sea bass juveniles. Diets were formulated to replace 25%, 50% and 75% of fishmeal with RPC. Additional high level inclusion diets (50% and 75%) were supplemented with lysine and methionine to determine if these were limiting factors. Fish (18.0 ± 0.06 g) were fed the experimental diets for 12 weeks. The final mean weight and specific growth rate (SGR) were significantly higher in fish fed the control diet (diet FM) and low level RPC (diet RPC25) than in fish fed the other diets. The supplementation of the amino acids had a positive effect on growth, elevating the final weight of the high level RPC (RPC75 + AA) group above that of the non‐supplemented group (RPC75). However, this was still not comparable to fish fed FM and RPC25 diets. No significant differences in body composition were observed. A digestibility study demonstrated an inverse relationship between elevating inclusion levels of RPC and apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) for dry matter and lipid, with significantly lower values than the control being observed with RPC inclusions above 25%. The mesenteric fat index followed this trend. Circulating leucocyte levels, leucocyte ratios and serum lysozyme activity remained unaffected by dietary treatment. However, compared with the control group, fish fed RPC75, RPC50 + AA RPC75 + AA displayed significantly lower haematocrit values. The present study demonstrates that the inclusion of RPC at 140 g kg?1 (effectively replacing 25% of FM content) does not compromise European sea bass growth performance, body quality or basic haematological parameters. It is suggested that future studies including higher levels test the efficacy of additional amino acid supplementation (e.g. tryptophan).  相似文献

A total of 142 samples of plants showing symptoms of Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) were collected from fields planted to Brassicaceae and non‐Brassicaceae crops in the southwest Marmora region of Turkey, during the 2004?06 growing seasons. Using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) TuMV was detected in the main brassica‐crop fields of Turkey, with an overall incidence of 13·4%. TuMV was detected in samples from Brussels sprouts, cabbage, wild mustard, radish and wild radish, but not cauliflower or broccoli. The full‐length sequences of the genomic RNAs of two biologically distinct isolates, TUR1 and TUR9, were determined. Recombination analyses showed that TUR1 was an intralineage recombinant, whereas TUR9 was a non‐recombinant. Phylogenetic analyses of the Turkish isolates with those from the rest of the world showed that the TUR1 and TUR9 isolates belonged to world‐Brassica and Asian‐Brassica/Raphanus groups, respectively. This study showed that TuMV is widely distributed in the Asia Minor region of Turkey.  相似文献

为了探讨越冬期树干形成层温度变化对形成层组织生理参数的影响,以库尔勒香梨为实验材料,在太阳辐射和气温达到日最大值的时间段,利用控温红外灯将实验组树干阳面形成层温度分别增温达到16℃、19℃、22%、25℃、28℃、31℃、34℃,采用热电偶温度传感器同时连续监测形成层温度并结合主要生理参数的变化,分析越冬期间树干形成层温度变化引起的融冻交替对树干组织主要生理参数的影响。结果表明,增温达到最大阳面形成层温度日较差的处理条件下,SOD、POD和CAT活性比对照分别降低了83.60%、84.62%、47.56%,相对电导率和可溶性蛋白含量分别升高了41.46%、46.81%;生理指标和形成层温度均呈负相关,其中CAT、可溶性蛋白和相对电导率呈显著性负相关。形成层温度日较差或融冻交替幅度与各生理参数均呈负相关,其中CAT、可溶性蛋白和相对电导率呈显著性负相关。保护酶系中,SOD对形成层温度变化最为敏感;虽然POD保护作用稍微迟钝,但在较强烈的形成层温度变化的条件下起到最好的保护作用;在形成层温度强烈波动的情况下,CAT保持最小变化幅度;可溶性蛋白通过调节渗透势,减轻细胞伤害程度。  相似文献

Phosphorus (P)‐solubilizing bacteria and fungi can increase soil‐P availability, potentially enhancing crop yield when P is limiting. We studied the effectiveness of Bacillus FS‐3 and Aspergillus FS9 in enhancing strawberry (Fragaria × ananasa cv. Fern) yield and mineral content of leaves and fruits on a P‐deficient calcareous Aridisol in Eastern Anatolia, Turkey. The 120 d pot experiment was conducted in three replicates with three treatments (Bacillus FS‐3, Aspergillus FS9, control) and five increasing rates of P addition (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 kg P ha–1). Fruit yield and nutrient content of fruits and leaves and soil P pools were determined at the end of the experiment. Phosphorus‐fertilizer addition increased all soil P fractions. Strawberry yield increased with P addition (quadratic function) reaching a maximum of 94 g pot–1 at 200 kg P ha–1 in the absence of P‐solubilizing microorganisms. At this yield level, Bacillus FS‐3 and Aspergillus FS9 inoculation resulted in P‐fertilizer savings of 149 kg P ha–1 and 102 kg P ha–1, respectively. Both microorganisms increased yields beyond the maximum achievable yield with sole P‐fertilizer addition. Microorganism inoculation increased fruit and leaf nutrient concentrations (N, P, K, Ca, and Fe) with the largest increases upon addition of Bacillus FS‐3. We conclude that Bacillus FS‐3 and Aspergillus FS9 show great promise as yield‐enhancing soil amendments in P‐deficient calcareous soils of Turkey. However, moderate additions of P fertilizer (50–100 kg ha–1) are required for highest yield.  相似文献

Fires have a noteworthy role to play with regards to ecological and environmental losses in Mediterranean forests. In addition to ecological impacts, fire may create economic, social as well as cultural changes. The detection of fire-scars has critical importance to help decrease losses. In the present study, forest fires recorded in Antalya, one of the most important ecological and tourist regions within the Western Mediterranean, were clustered and mapped. Since the dominant factors and devastation records derived from the cases had nominal-scaled properties, a categorical data-based nonparametric clustering algorithm was performed in this evaluation. The proposed tool, k-modes algorithm, uses modes instead of means for clustering. The algorithm may be implemented quickly and does not make distributional assumptions concerning the available data. It uses a frequency-based method to update the modes of the fires. The derived modes from the maps may be useful information for local authorities to manage. In conclusion, the proposed nonparametric clustering procedure may be employed to build a decision-support system to monitor and identify fire activities and to enhance fire management efficiency.  相似文献
