This study investigated effect of increasing level of dietary sodium using sodium bicarbonate or sodium chloride on growth performance, mortality, characteristics of carcass, organs and tibia, calcium and phosphorus of serum in broilers reared in a high‐altitude area (1,700 m above sea level). A total of 588 Ross 308 male broiler chicks were used in seven treatments, six replicates per treatment of 14 birds per each from 1 to 38 d of age. Seven dietary treatments consisted of a basal diet (with 0.16% sodium and 0.23% chloride), top‐dressed for six diets to give three supplementary levels of sodium (0.07%, 0.14% and 0.21%) from sodium bicarbonate (respectively by 0.26%, 0.52% and 0.78%) or sodium chloride (respectively by 0.18%, 0.36% and 0.54%), resulting in seven diets with total sodium and chloride levels of 0.16% and 0.23%, 0.23% and 0.23%, 0.30% and 0.23%, 0.37% and 0.23%, 0.23% and 0.33%, 0.30% and 0.44%, 0.37% and 0.55% respectively. Increasing sodium level improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) linearly and quadratically. However, when FCR was calculated without adjusting for feed intake of mortalities, the enhanced sodium level did not improve this parameter. Increasing sodium level via sodium chloride enhanced ascites mortality, total mortality, relative weight of heart and right ventricle linearly. Increasing sodium level reduced serum calcium and enhanced serum phosphorus linearly; however, there was a linear tendency to increase tibia ash when sodium level was enhanced by sodium bicarbonate (p = 0.08) or sodium chloride (p = 0.07). Increasing sodium level via sodium bicarbonate tended (p = 0.08) to reduce tibia strength linearly. In conclusion, a diet with 0.16% sodium and 0.23% chloride is enough for broiler chicken reared in a high‐altitude area, and increasing dietary sodium level via sodium chloride has detrimental effect on survivability of broiler in such condition. 相似文献

本试验旨在研究碱式氯化锌(BZC)和蛋白锌(PRZ)相对于一水合硫酸锌(ZSM)的生物学利用率以及对肉仔鸡生长性能的影响。采用双因素(3×3+1)完全随机试验设计,选取720只1日龄健康雄性爱拔益加(AA)肉仔鸡,随机分为10个组,每组6个重复,每个重复12只鸡。对照组饲喂玉米-豆粕型基础饲粮,3个ZSM组分别饲喂在基础饲粮基础上添加20、40和80 mg/kg ZSM的饲粮,3个BZC组分别饲喂在基础饲粮基础上添加20、40和80 mg/kg BZC的饲粮,3个PRZ组分别饲喂在基础饲粮基础上添加20、40和80 mg/kg PRZ的饲粮。各组不同锌源添加量均以锌计。试验期42 d,分为1~14日龄、15~28日龄和29~42日龄3个阶段。分别在14和28日龄时,从各重复中选取1只接近平均体重的鸡进行屠宰,测定血浆锌含量和抗氧化指标、组织锌含量以及胰脏锌相关蛋白基因表达水平。结果表明:1)1~14日龄,与对照组相比,饲粮添加不同锌源和添加不同水平锌显著提高肉仔鸡平均日增重(ADG)和14日龄体重(P<0.05),显著降低料重比(F/G)(P<0.05),且以添加40 mg... 相似文献

本试验旨在研究分娩前饲喂包被氯化钙对母猪产程和死胎的影响。选取913头妊娠109 d丹系长×大和大×长二元杂交母猪,根据体况和胎次接近的原则分成3组。对照组于妊娠109 d至分娩当天每天饲喂基础饲粮,试验Ⅰ组和试验Ⅱ组在基础饲粮的基础上分别额外饲喂25和50 g/d包被氯化钙。饲养试验从妊娠109 d到分娩当天。试验过程中每天进行粪便评分,于分娩当天记录试验母猪产程、产仔数和死胎数,并采集尿液和血液分别用于测定尿液pH和血清钙离子浓度。结果表明:1)总产仔数和分娩前饲喂包被氯化钙对母猪死胎数无显著交互作用(P>0.05);试验Ⅰ组和试验Ⅱ组死胎数分别为0.31和0.28头,显著低于对照组的0.44头(P<0.05),但试验Ⅰ组和试验Ⅱ组无显著差异(P>0.05)。2)试验Ⅰ组母猪产程相较于对照组显著缩短(P<0.05),而试验Ⅱ组产程相较于对照组无显著差异(P>0.05);3组母猪胎盘排出时间之间无显著差异(P>0.05)。3)3组母猪妊娠109 d和分娩当天尿液pH之间无显著差异(P>0.05);妊娠110 d到妊娠113 d,对照组和试验Ⅰ组尿液pH无显著差异(P>0.05),试验Ⅱ组尿液pH显著低于对照组和试验Ⅰ组(P<0.05)。与对照组相比,试验组母猪血清钙离子浓度显著提高(P<0.05),妊娠112 d和分娩当天粪便评分显著降低(P<0.05);3组母猪便秘率之间无显著差异(P>0.05)。综上所述,母猪妊娠109 d至分娩前饲喂25 g/d包被氯化钙可显著缩短产程,减少死胎,而且该效果不受母猪总产仔数的影响,该调控效果与其提高血液钙离子浓度有关。 相似文献

A 6‐week feeding trial was conducted to determine the effects of varying dietary electrolyte balance (DEB) on growth performance and physiological responses in broiler chicks reared during hot summer months (26.1–37.5 °C). The average minimum and maximum room temperatures recorded from 14 to 42 days of age were 26.1 and 37.5 °C, respectively, with relative humidity ranging from 51% to 55%. Five DEB treatments supplying 0, 50, 150, 250 and 350 (Na++K+–Cl?) mEq/kg of diet were prepared by adding NaHCO3 and/or NH4Cl to basal diet that contained 185 mEq/kg from 1 to 28 days and 172 mEq/kg from 29 to 42 days. These DEB diets were randomly offered to six experimental units of 20 chicks each. Improved 42‐day body weight gain (BWG), feed:gain (F:G) and reduced mortality was noted with DEB 50, 150 and 250 mEq/kg compared to DEB 0 and 350 mEq/kg. A quadratic effect of increasing DEB level was observed on BWG and F:G, whereas the effect was linear for feed intake, water intake and litter moisture. The DEB 50, 150 and 250 maintained better blood pH, pCO2 and HCO3 concentrations during acute heat stress periods than that of 0 and 350. The blood heterophil and lymphocyte percent as well as heterophil:lymphocyte were remained unaffected. The lowest DEB (0 mEq/kg) diet reduced the feed intake and promoted metabolic acidosis. At 350 mEq/kg DEB, water intake and metabolic alkalosis were promoted probably due to high levels of dietary NaHCO3. The study concluded that overall better performance was recorded with DEB 50, 150 and 250 mEq/kg. BACKGROUND: Heritable myotonia is a genetic muscle disorder characterized by slow relaxation of skeletal muscles. The main clinical signs are skeletal muscle stiffness, especially after vigorous contraction, and muscle hypertrophy. Muscle stiffness may be enhanced by inactivity, and often is relieved by exercise. Myotonia can be inherited in an autosomal dominant or recessive manner (Thomsen- or Becker-type myotonia, respectively). In mice, goats, Miniature Schnauzer dogs, and most affected humans, the disorder is caused by mutations in CLCN1, which encodes the skeletal muscle voltage-gated chloride channel, Cl1C-1. HYPOTHESIS: We hypothesized that an Australian Cattle Dog with generalized muscle stiffness and hypertrophy examined at the Ontario Veterinary College would have a mutation in the CLCN1 gene. ANIMALS: A pure-bred Australian Cattle Dog from Ontario, Canada, was used. METHODS: Based on clinical signs and electromyographic test results, a diagnosis of myotonia hereditaria was made, and a muscle biopsy was collected for genetic analysis. RESULTS: Sequence data obtained from the affected dog confirmed that it was homozygous for a single base insertion in the CLCN1 coding sequence. This mutation would result in a truncated ClC-1 protein being expressed, which, based on molecular evidence from other studies, would result in functionally compromised chloride conduction in the skeletal muscles of the animal. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL IMPORTANCE: To the authors' knowledge, this report describes the Ist case of myotonia in an Australian Cattle Dog and represents the 1st non-Schnauzer canine myotonia to be genetically characterized. In addition, we developed a polymerase chain reaction-based genetic screen to detect heterozygotes with this mutation in the at-large Australian Cattle Dog population. 相似文献
