Summary. Pre-emergence application of 2–5 kg/ha (a.i.) of atrazine or simazine was the most effective treatment for control of broad-leaved weeds in maize. Other triazines injured maize at all rates tested. Among the crops following maize treated with atrazine or simazine at 2–5 kg/ha, sugar beet was injured whereas wheat, oats, vetch, onions and soybeans were not. Post-emergence application of triazine herbicides was not effective and did not increase maize yields significantly over those of the unweeded plots. Wheat, oats, vetch and sugar beet were injured when following maize treated with post-emergence sprays; onions and soybeans showed no visible injury except from atrazine or simazine at 5 kg/ha or more, and from mixtures of atrazine+prometryne or atrazine+ametryne at 12–5 kg/ha. In four field experiments begun in 1963, each of four herbicides was applied to plots planted wilh the same crop each year. The annual treatments were: MCPA at 17 kg/ha to barley (Hordeum sativa Jess) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) at growth stage 15. tri-allate at 17 kg/ha pre-emergcnce to barley and wheat, simazine at l7kg/ha pre-emergence to maize (Zea mays L.) and linuron in two applications of 084 kg/ha pre- and post-emergence to carrots (Daucus carota L.). MCPA did not affect growth or yield of either barley or wheat. In general tri-allate also did not aftect the crops although wheat yield was depressed in 1978, wheat 1000 grain weight was reduced in 1972 and barley germination percentage was increased in 1973. Simazine did not influence the height, yield or appearance of maize. Linuron normally produced no effect on carrot yield, density and size. However, in 2 years when the post-emergence application was late, density but not yield was lower than in control plots. There was no accumulation of residues of any of these compounds in the soil. Rates of loss were similar to those predicted on ihe basis of laboratory experiments. In a fifth experiment these herbicides were applied twice per year (3 times in the case of linuron) at double the rales above on each occasion to bare plots. These applications ceased in 1968 (1969 for MCPA) but residues were monitored until 1972 except in the case of MCPA. Disappearance rates were similar to those in the cropped plots and residues were largely confined to the top 10 cm. The plots treated with MCPA had developed an enhanced ability lo degrade il prior to 1968. This persisted for 5 years after the final application.  相似文献

Abstract

Seven different herbicides were tested in 1967, and two of these chemicals were further evaluated in 1969 for their efficacy in onions grown in Lebanon. Chloroxuron at 6 kg a.i./ha and Sindone at 1.5 kg/ha gave a significant increase in the bulb weight and yield of onions over unweeded plots. Significant reductions in yield were observed from pre-em. applications of chlorbromuron at 3 kg/ha, propachlor at 6 kg/ha, Sindone at 0.5 kg/ha, and prometryne at 1 and 1.5 kg/ha. Good weed control was obtained as a result of pre-em. application of all herbicides tested.

With post-em. application, weed control was not effective. With the exception of prometryne at 1.5 kg/ha which injured the onions and reduced the yield, the post-em. applications of herbicides tested gave no significant effect on onion yield.

None of the treatments, in both pre-em. and post-em. applications, had any significant effect on leaf length, bulb index, bolting and splitting percentages, dry matter content, total soluble solids, or pungency of onions.  相似文献

Effective weed management in maize-wheat (M-W) cropping systems are accountable for higher yield and plant biomass. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of manual weeding and chemicals (pre- and post-emergence herbicide) for actual weed control to enhance maize yield and M?W system productivity. Herbicides were treated as pre-emergence (sole), post-emergence (sole) and its combined application (pre- and post-emergence) for weed eradication and suppression. Sole pre-emergence herbicide (acetyclour?+?atrazine) and sole post-emergence herbicides (nicosulfuron), and its mixed application were used in the experiments. The experiment was comprised on 6 treatments with one weedy check or control plot: W1?=?weedy check, W2?=?acetyclour?+?atrazine, W3?=?atrazine, W4?=?nicosulfuron, W5?=?nicosulfuron?+?atrazine, W6?=?acetyclour?+?atrazine?+?nicosulfuron and W7?=?manual weeding. Main weeds were Cyperus rotundus, Tribulus terrestris, Dactyloctenium aegyptium and Cynodon dactylon. Experiential findings revealed that manual weeding was found most effective in terms of controlling weed and suppression. Among the herbicides application, promising results in terms of weed destruction and suppression were shown by combined application of acetyclour?+?atrazine?+?nicosulfuron which effectively controlled weeds as compared to other treatments. It was concluded that manual weeding drastically reduced weeds frequency and biomass while among the herbicides application acetyclour?+?atrazine and nicosulfuron could be promising for weeds suppression and clamp downing as compared to all other treatments under M?W cropping system.

Several herbicides applied singly and in combination were evaluated for weed control and for their effects on crop yield in direct-seeded lowland rice under poor water management conditions characteristic of the conditions in which lowland rice is grown by most farmers in West Africa. Several herbicides including cyperquat at 3.0 kg/ha, a mixture of cyperquat and 2,4-D at 2.0 + 0.5 kg/ha, bentazon at 2.0 kg/ha and avirosan satisfactorily controlled sedges in the 3-year study. Crop yield was consistently high in plots where weeds were controlled with post-emergence application of MCPA + propanil at 1.0+1.7 kg/ha, propanil + thiobencarb 2.2+1.2 kg/ha, oxadiazon 1.5 kg/ha, bentazon 2.0, granular 2,4-D at 1.0 kg/ha, and a pre-emergence application of bifenox at 2.0 kg/ha. Crop yields in plots treated with these herbicides were generally better than with two hand-weedings.  相似文献

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted for two years during 1977–78 and 1978–79 to evaluate the efficiency of methabenzthiazuron, terbutryn and metoxuron in controlling weeds in peas (Pisum sativum) at the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, India. Pre-emergence application of methabenzthiazuron at 1.05 and 1.40 kg a.i./ha gave efficient weed control and gave comparable yields to two hand hoeings. Post-emergence application of methabenzthiazuron proved inferior. Terbutryn pre-emergence showed promise but as a post-emergence application it was ineffective. Metoxuron both pre- and post-emergence showed phytotoxic effects on the crop.  相似文献

Abstract

Pre-plant and pre-emergence herbicides were tested for effective weed control in a seed crop of okra during 1974–75 and 1975–76. All treatments significantly decreased the weed population and increased the seed yield as compared to the unweeded control. Fluchloralin (0.90 and 1.20 kg a.i./ha pre-plant), alachlor (2.50 kg a.i./ha pre-em) and EPTC plus alachlor (3.75 kg a.i./ha pre-plant and 1.25 kg a.i./ha pre-em) proved to be the most effective and economical treatments. No residual effects were observed with any herbicide on the succeeding crops of radish, carrot, turnips, peas and spinach.  相似文献

Abstract

Field experiments conducted at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1972–73 and 1973–74 showed that post-emergence application of oxadiazon at 1 kg a.i./ha in transplanted onion gave remarkable weed control and maximum crop yield. Other treatments which performed well include pre-planting alachlor at 2.5 kg a.i./ha plus post-emergence propanil at 1.8 kg a.i./ha and also pre-planting nitrofen at 1.25 kg a.i./ha plus post-emergence nitrofen at 1.25 kg a.i./ha. Herbicides did not significantly influence the bulb quality, soil microflora or the emergence and yield of following crops of okra, bitter gourd and radish.  相似文献

Summary. From 1959 to 1962 the effects of some triazine and growth regulator herbicides applied pre-emergence and post-emergence to maize grown for silage were studied in field experiments on light to medium loam soils at Harper Adams College, Shropshire.
Atrazine applied pre-emergence at 1–1.5 lb/ac gave good control of annual weeds and was superior to simazine at equivalent rates. Soil moisture and rainfall after spraying were found to influence the activity of the triazines, but both were completely tolerated by maize. In 1960, 1961 and 1962 atrazine was much more effective against annual weeds than post-emergence applications of MCPA and 2,4-D. However MCPA and 2,4-D gave adequate control of a range of annual and perennial weeds under favourable conditions in 1959 and 1960 but results were poor in the two following years due to the presence of resistant and late germinating weeds .

Abstract

In field experiments conducted at the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during 1973–74 and 1974–75, pre-emergence application (one day after sowing) of methabenzthiazuron (1.05 kg a.i./ha), metoxuron (1.6 kg a.i./ha) and chlortoluron (0.75 kg a.i./ha) gave effective control of Phalaris minor and Avena ludoviciana in wheat without any phytotoxic effect on the crop. Methabenzthiazuron, metoxuron and chlortoluron gave 1410, 1420 and 1090 kg/ha, respectively, more grain than the unweeded crop and 590, 600 and 270 kg/ha more than the crop hand-weeded twice. Nitrofen (1.25 kg a.i./ha) applied pre-emergence was effective against P. minor only and gave substantial increase in grain yield. Terbutryne, dichlormate and linuron, while effective against P. minor, also had a phytotoxic effect on the crop.  相似文献

Field and pot investigations were conducted to determine the effectiveness of pyroxasulfone alone and its combinations with other herbicides against diverse weed flora of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) including multiple herbicide-resistant (MHR) littleseed canarygrass (Phalaris minor Retz.). Applications of pyroxasulfone 100–127.5 g/ha as pre-emergence (PE) or early post-emergence (EPOE) @ 63.75 g/ha at 21–23 days after sowing (1 day before irrigation) were highly effective for control of grass weeds namely P. minor and wild oat (Avena ludoviciana Dur.). It was poor for control of broad-leaved weeds (Medicago denticulata Willd. and Rumex dentatus L.). However, pyroxasulfone in tank-mix combination with metsulfuron 4 g/ha, triasulfuron 20 g/ha, and pyroxsulam 18 g/ha effectively controlled (96.5%–99.8%) the diverse weed flora and improved the wheat grain yield (69.5%–285.9%) over untreated weedy control. Also, the pre-mix of pyroxasulfone + pendimethalin applied as PE was superior to either of these applied alone for weed control and grain yield. Pyroxasulfone 100–127.5 g/ha had yield gain of 119.6%–125.4% and 10.1%–26% over untreated control and pendimethalin 800–1250 g/ha, respectively. In pot studies, straw burnt ash drastically reduced the pyroxasulfone efficacy against P. minor and A. ludoviciana. Pyroxasulfone was also effective in pot studies for control of MHR P. minor having resistance against acetyl-coA carboxylase (ACCase), acetolactate synthase (ALS), and photosynthesis at the photosystem-II site-A (PS-II) inhibitor herbicides (clodinafop, sulfosulfuron, and isoproturon, respectively). The studies indicate that pyroxasulfone as PE or EPOE can be an alternative grass weed control herbicide in wheat in particular for the control of MHR P. minor.  相似文献

Abstract

Different mechanical cultivations and herbicide treatments were compared for controlling Ischaemum afrum in a heavily infested fallow area. Of the mechanical cultivations, disc ploughing to a depth of more than 15 cm, following removal of tufts and watering, was found very effective (83% reduction). Incorporated pre-emergence triluralin (1.90 kg a.i./ha) alone or in tank mixtures with oxadiazon (0.95 + 0.95 kg a.i./ha) was also found promising (79 and 76% reduction respectively). Three applications of dalapon (8.09 kg a.i./ha), as post-emergence, at two weekly intervals or two applications followed by another application at 4.05 kg a.i./ha gave almost complete eradication of Ischaemum afrum seedlings for about 12 weeks (99% reduction).  相似文献

Auslralia, methabenzthiazuron used at 1 2 kg ha pre-emergence was the most effective herbicide for selectively controlling Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn in seed crops of Setaria anceps Stapf. Bromoxynil. bromoxynil plus MCPA, simazine and terbutryne were either ineffective or phytotoxic to S anceps. Abstract

Recent developments in the use of herbicides during the establishment of leguminous cover crops and the mature phases of rubber and oil palm plantings are discussed. Results of 12 semi-commercial and commercial scale trials showed that chemical weeding using paraquat and diuron post-emergence or oxyfluorfen pre-emergence with supplementary manual or chemical control was considerably cheaper than exclusive manual weeding during the six months following the sowing of legumes. Reductions in weeding costs ranged from 6 to 66%. In the mature phase a wide range of herbicide treatments involving extensively used herbicides such as paraquat, MSMA, 2, 4-D amine and sodium chlorate for the suppression of weed growth along rubber tree rows and in oil palm circles and harvesters' paths were compared. Results indicate that there are several suitable alternatives to sodium arsenite, a formerly widely used herbicide which is now banned for general weed control. In both crops, the most cost effective treatments for controlling mixed vegetation were Ustinex Special (MCPA + diuron + amitrole, 2:3:6) at 1.48 kg a.i.ha + Gramoxone (paraquat) at 0.22 kg a.i./ha and Paracol (paraquat + diuron, 1:1) at 0.56 kg a.i./ha + DMA Amine (2, 4-D) at 0.50 kg a.e./ha.  相似文献

In field experiments methabenzthiazuron at 1.1 kg ai/ha applied pre-emergence gave good control of Poa trivialis L. in perennial ryegrass S23 which was undersown in spring barley (Zephyr); no significant damage to barley or perennial ryegrass resulted from 2.2 kg ai/ha. However this dose applied when barley had three to four leaves decreased the subsequent barley yield. In pot experiments in the glasshouse methabenzthiazuron was active mainly due to uptake through the soil. Much greater damage to barley and perennial ryegrass resulted when herbicide-treated soil was placed below seed level than above the seed. The difference was less marked with P. trivialis. The latter started to develop secondary roots near the soil surface earlier than either perennial ryegrass or spring barley.  相似文献

A pot bioassay procedure, based on root growth of pre-germinated maize was used to study residual phytotoxicity of chlorsulfuron and DPX-L5300 methyl-([4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl(methyl) carbamoyl]sulphamoyl)benzoate under field conditions. The results indicate that residual bioactivity of both herbicides, applied either pre-or post-emergence at 5, 10, 20 and 40 g a.i. ha?1, was increased with increasing rate of application. Chlorsulfuron persisted longer than DPX-L5300, and both herbicides, when applied pre-emergence, persisted longer than when applied post-emergence. Pot bioassay did not detect any residues eight months after either application. Maize and sunflower, planted as rotational field crops eight months after pre-emergence application, were not injured by either herbicide. Also, these crops were not affected when planted four months after post-emergence application of any of the DPX-L5300 rates or 5 or 10 g a.i. ha?1 of chlorsulfuron, but their fresh weight was significantly reduced where 20 or 40 g a.i. ha?1 of chlorsulfuron were applied.  相似文献

In Germany, cultivation of lupines traditionally takes place only in few federal states at sites with light/sandy soil conditions. Due to this fact, there only exist a small number of field trials to close gaps in chemical weed control via herbicides. The existing pre-emergence herbicides are not able to control all of the most common weed species sufficiently-they all show efficiency gaps against single weed species. Not any of the pre-emergence herbicides tested could achieve high efficiencies against Polygonum convolvulus. The best efficiency against P. convolvulus can be achieved after a sequence of a pre-emergence spray of 0,8–1,0 l/ha Fenikan and a post-emergence spray of 0,2 l/ha Tacco. Since Fenikan and Tacco are not approved for lupine, after approval the application only in lupine stocks for seed production is possible. By taking into account only the currently legal permitted herbicides, Gardo Gold and the tank mix Boxer?+?Stomp Aqua show the best broad effects. Benefits resulting from Gardo Gold can be obtained against Chenopodium album, Viola arvensis, Centaurea cyanus, while the tank mixes Boxer?+?Stomp Aqua show advantages against Galium aparine. From the pre-emergence herbicides tested, Successor T could be applied as an addition to improve the broad effect. In tank mixes with Gardo Gold, the most common weed species can be controlled well. However, with permission also this tank mix can currently only be applied in lupine seed stock production. In the near future weed control will only be possible with the currently existing and approved herbicides, because there are no new herbicides to expect that are compatible with corn, grain and lupine. Under suboptimal application conditions of soil herbicides, weeded lupine stocks can only be harvested after siccation.  相似文献

Ce projet a permis ?évaluer des programmes de désherbage combinant ?application ?herbicides en bandes et les sarclages mécaniques comme méthode alternative à?utilisation intensive ?herbicides dans le maïs-grain (Zea mays L.). Les résultats des travaux menés au Québec en 1991 et 1992 indiquent que ?application ?herbicides en bandes (atrazine à 1,0 kg m.a. ha?1+métolachlore à 1,9 kg m.a. ha ?1 en post-levée précoce) sur le rang (40% de la surface totale cultivée) suivie par des sarclages mécaniques sélectifs sur toute la surface procurent des rendements de maïs-grain équivalents a ceux obtenus là où les herbicides ont été appliqués sur toute la surface cultivée. Il est donc possible de réduire la quantité?herbicides utilisée dans le maïs-grain sans diminuer son rendement. La répression mécanique des mauvaises herbes a été plus efficace en 1991, qui a été une année sèche comparée à 1992 qui a été froide et pluvieuse. Il ressort de cette étude qu'un traitement combinant une application ?herbicides en bandes et deux sarclages sélectifs sur toute la surface à 2 et 4 semaines après ?émergence du maïs-grain procure à la fois un désherbage adéquat des adventices et un rendement optimum du maïe. Reduced use of herbicides in corn through herbicide-banding combined with cultivations The efficacy of various weed management systems utilizing banded applications of herbicides and mechanical cultivations were investigated in order to find alternatives to intensive herbicide use in grain maize (Zea mays L.) production. In experiments conducted in Quebec in 1991 and in 1992, banded applications of atrazine (1.0 kg a.i. ha ?1) and metolachlor (1.9 kg a.i. ha?1) on maize rows (40% of field area) combined with post-emergence cultivations, achieved a similar grain yield to that obtained when herbicides were broadcast over the whole field. In this project, decreasing herbicide was not accompanied with decreasing maize yield. Mechanical weed control was more effective in 1991, a drier year than 1992 which was cool and rainy. A banded application of herbicides followed by cultivations at 2 and 4 weeks after maize emergence provided commercially acceptable weed control and crop yield.  相似文献

Abstract

Sodium 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropionate (TFP) was tested as pre-planting and post-emergence applications on jute heavily infested with grasses and sedges. The herbicide was applied by two methods, at several rates and at different times before sowing. As a post-emergence application it was sprayed over a three week old crop. The best results were obtained when the herbicide was incorporated into the soil ten days before sowing at 3–4 kg a.i./ha. This practice controlled all grasses and sedges except nutsedge, which was only reduced by 30–40%, although higher rates gave better control. No phytotoxic effects on jute were observed with this rate and method of application.  相似文献

In a field experiment on an organic soil, a pre-emergence application of paraquat at 2–24 kg a.i. (active ingredient)/ha was made to a plot on which onions and lettuce were grown; and similar broadcast applications of linuron, both with and without carbofuran, at two field rates, to plots on which carrots were grown. Paraquat generally increased the bacterial and actinomycetal populations while linuron inhibited the same but enhanced the numbers of fungal propagules, although it decreased the proportion of soil penicillia in the population. The overall effect of linuron was not changed by the admixture of carbofuran. However, the changes in microbial populations by either herbicides were not substantial enough to make gross or lasting differences in levels of available N and P, and in the CO2 evolution rate.  相似文献
