An 8-week feeding trial was conducted in a static indoor rearing system to examine the effects of partial substitution of fish meal (FM) protein with sesame seed meal protein with and without supplemental amino acids in diets for rohu Labeo rohita fingerlings (average weight 3.82 ± 0.05 g). Before incorporation into diets, sesame Seasamum indicum seed meal was fermented with lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus in order to reduce/eliminate the antinutritional factors tannin and phytic acid present in it. Twelve experimental diets (diets D1 to D12) were formulated replacing the FM protein from a reference diet with sesame seed meal protein at different levels (four sets of diets, of which each set of three diets contained 30%, 40% and 50% replacement of FM protein by sesame seed meal protein respectively). Diets D1 to D3 were not supplemented with any amino acid. Lysine was supplemented to diets D4 to D6. Diets D7 to D9 were supplemented with methionine–cystine (together), and diets D10 to D12 contained lysine and methionine–cystine (together). Lysine and methionine–cystine were added to the diets at 5.7% and 3.1% of dietary protein respectively. The groups of fish fed diets without any supplemental amino acids had significantly lower percentage weight gain, specific growth rate (SGR) and higher feed : gain ratio (FGR) than the groups of fish fed on other experimental diets. The addition of lysine and methionine–cystine to the diet in which 50% of FM protein was replaced by sesame meal protein (diet D12) significantly improved fish weight gain and FGR. The percentage live weight gain and SGR values differed significantly (P < 0.01) from each other in the fish fed diets D10 to D12, which were supplemented with all three amino acids. The results of the present study suggest that rohu fingerlings can effectively utilize the supplemented amino acids and that sesame seed meal protein can replace up to 50% of FM protein in the diets for rohu if the sesame seed meal is properly processed (fermented) and supplemented with deficient amino acids.  相似文献

A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of different ratios of fish meal (FM) to a fermented blend (FB: fermented soybean meal and squid by-product blend) on growth and economic performance of climbing perch, Anabas testudineus (Bloch, 1792), in earthen ponds. Five diets were prepared where FB was substituted for 0 (D1), 25 (D2), 50 (D3), 75 (D4), or 100% FM protein (D5), while a commercial diet (D6) was used for comparison. Triplicate groups of fish (1.03 ± 0.07 g) were fed twice daily up to satiation for 70 days in earthen ponds. No significant (P > 0.05) differences were found in growth performance of fish fed D1, D2, D3, and D6 diets, while fish growth decreased significantly (P < 0.05) in D4 and D5 groups. Feed intake decreased (P < 0.05) with the increasing levels of FB with no significant difference in the feed conversion ratio, which ranged from 1.98 to 2.08. The fish survival decreased significantly in D5 alone. While considering the overall production, the total yield and economic return were found to be highest in D2 (64176.7 TK ha?1) and lowest in D5 (14418.3 Tk. ha?1). Based on the present experimental condition, it is concluded that FB can economically be included in aquafeed as a substitute for up to 50% of FM protein from the diets of climbing perch.  相似文献

In this study, efficacy of three antigenic preparations from the fish pathogen Aeromonas hydrophila was evaluated as vaccine candidate in rohu Labeo rohita. The rabbit anti-rohu globulin conjugate was prepared in rabbit using sera obtained from healthy adult rohu. Three antigens, namely formalin inactivated A. hydrophila (FAH), FAH mixed with Freund’s incomplete adjuvant in a 1:1 (v/v) ratio (FAH + A), and extra cellular product were prepared. Protection of rohu against A. hydrophila infection was tested at days 10, 20, and 30 post-vaccination. At the end of the vaccination, fish were challenged with A. hydrophila (dose: 1 × 107 cfu ml?1) and relative per cent of survival was recorded up to 60th day of post-challenge. Study of cellular immunological parameters including antigen-specific leucocyte proliferation, antigen-specific nitric oxide production, and superoxide anion production exhibited significantly higher (p < 0.05) values on 10th and 20th day of post-vaccination compared with control. Among all the antigenic groups, FAH + A showed most significant responses compared with the other groups and produced maximum antibody on 30th day following vaccination. Among the humoral immune responses, lysozyme activity showed almost similar trend like cellular parameters. The result of the challenge study showed a higher level of survival in all the vaccinated groups, especially in FAH + A group. Our results suggest that vaccine FAH + A can effectively protect rohu against A. hydrophila infection and could offer an appropriate strategy to prevent this infection in rohu farms.  相似文献

A 12-week feeding trial was undertaken to assess growth, nutrient utilization, some hematological parameters, and proximate composition of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fed diets supplemented with graded levels (0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5%) of two blends of organic acids or organic salts. Seven isonitrogenous (300 g CP kg?1) and isocaloric (19.0 MJ gross energy kg?1) diets were formulated. The control diet (D1) contained neither added blend of organic acids nor organic salts. Three diets (D2, D3, and D4) were supplemented with 0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5% of malic acid + oxalic acid blend (OAB), respectively. The other three diets (D5, D6, and D7) were supplemented with 0.5%, 1.5%, and 1.5% of calcium lactate + sodium acetate blend (OSB), respectively. Fingerlings (7.05 ± 0.02 g) were randomly distributed into 21 glass aquaria (160 liter), with each aquarium holding 15 fish. At the end of the feeding trial, O. niloticus offered the control diet showed lower growth and feed utilization than all those fed the organic acids or organic salts blends supplemented diets. Fish fed the diet D3 showed the highest body weight (BW), body length (BL), weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR), feed intake (FI), and the best feed conversion ratio (FCR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER). Fish fed diet supplemented by 1.5% OAB (D4) showed the highest serum protein content, while control group (D1) showed the lower level of total lipids compared with the other treatments. Fish group fed the diet supplemented with 0.5% of OSB (D5) showed the highest protein and ash contents and the lowest lipid content of the whole fish body, while the control group showed the lowest protein and the highest fat content. The present observations suggest that the growth, feed utilization, and health status of juvenile O. niloticus can be enhanced with a supplementation of 1% of OAB or OSB in the diet.  相似文献

Abstract

Rohu, Labeo rohita, fingerlings (av. wt. 1.6 g) were fed pelleted diets supplemented with 0,0.5,1.0,1.5 and 2.0% sodium chloride (NaCl) for 120 days in 25-m3 cement tanks. The final weight gain of fish fed 0.5 and 1.0% NaCl-incorporated diets was significantly (P < 0.05) higher than that of the control (0% NaCl). Net protein retention and carcass protein and fat contents were higher under different treatments as compared to the control. Growth indices and carcass composition indicate inclusion of 1.0% NaCl in the diet to be beneficial for growth promotion in rohu.  相似文献

Nine isonitrogenous (35% crude protein approximately) and isocaloric (18.37 kJ g?1) experimental diets (RLL20–BCFL40) were formulated with either raw or treated (inoculated with fish intestinal bacteria) Leucaena leucocephala leaf meal at 20%, 30% and 40% levels replacing other ingredients partially from a fish meal based reference diet (RD). Two specific strains of fish intestinal bacteria, Bacillus subtilis (isolated from Cyprinus carpio) and B. circulans (isolated from Oreochromis mossambicus) having extracellular cellulolytic and amylolytic activities, were used to inoculate Leucaena leaf meal for 15 days at 37°C. The crude fibre, cellulose and hemicellulose contents and the antinutritional factors, tannin, phytic acid and mimosine in the leaf meal decreased due to inoculation. However, free amino acids and fatty acids increased in the treated leaf meal. The response of rohu, Labeo rohita, fingerlings fed the experimental diets for 80 days was compared with fish fed a RD. Both the inclusion level and type of Leucaena leaf meal in diets significantly affected the growth performance of rohu. Fish fed diets containing inoculated Leucaena leaf meal performed better in comparison with those with the RD. On the basis of growth response, feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio and apparent net protein utilization, diet formulated with 30%Leucaena leaf meal inoculated with B. circulans resulted in the best performance of rohu fingerlings followed by diet with 40%B. subtilis inoculated Leucaena leaf meal. The apparent protein digestibility (APD) was better in fish fed diets containing B. circulans inoculated leaf meal. An increasing level of raw Leucaena leaf meal was associated with a decrease in the carcass protein content of rohu fingerlings. The activity of α‐amylase increased with the increasing level of treated leaf meal in diets. Cellulase activity increased with increasing level of inclusion of raw leaf meal, and was comparatively lower in fish fed diets with treated leaf meal. Activities of protease and lipase were higher in fish fed the RD. The results showed that it is possible to incorporate Leucaena leaf meal inoculated with enzyme‐producing fish intestinal bacteria in carp diets up to 40% level of inclusion.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the dietary dosages of turmeric that enhance immune response and disease resistance against the opportunistic pathogens Aeromonas hydrophila in Labeo rohita fingerlings. Hence, four different dosages of turmeric at 0.1, 0.5, 1.0 and 5.0 g kg?1 feed were given to the fingerlings of L. rohita for 60 days at 4% body weight. At every 20‐day interval, different biochemical, haematological, enzymatic and immunological parameters of fish were evaluated. After 60 days, fish were challenged with A. hydrophila. The mortality (%) was recorded on the tenth day post challenge. Most of the immune parameters including lysozyme activity, superoxide anion production and serum bactericidal activity were significantly (P<0.05) higher on 60 days of feeding of 1.0 g of turmeric per kg of feed. Challenge study indicated 100% and 89% survivability in the group of fish fed with 5.0 and 1.0 g of turmeric per kg of feed respectively. Feeding of turmeric might have maintained long‐term protection in fish by elevating the nonspecific immune system such as Nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT), lysozyme and serum bactericidal activity. The result showed that turmeric at a dose of 1.0 g kg?1 feed for 60 days provided the greatest protection to pathogen challenge.  相似文献

To study the effect of four different raw and hydrothermically processed leguminous seeds, namely Glycine max (soybean), Vigna radiata (moong), Vigna ungiculata (cowpea) and Cyamopsis tetragonaloba (guar) on growth in the fingerlings of Cirrhinus mrigala (mrigal) and Labeo rohita (rohu), two experiments were conducted. The first experiment was conducted under laboratory conditions (LD 12:12 at 25 °C) and the mrigal fingerlings were fed @2% BW d?1 for 30 days. Before using the seeds as feeds, they were hydrothermically processed (15 lbs at 121 °C for 15 min) for the elimination of antinutrient factors (ANF). The results indicate that 15 minute autoclaving significantly reduces the trypsin inhibitor activity. Phytase‐phosphorous and tannins were also analysed from raw and treated beans. Studies on mrigal have revealed that weight gain was significantly low (P < 0.05) in the fish fed on raw beans compared with the fingerlings fed on processed bean proteins. Among the various raw diets used, significantly highest growth (P < 0.05) was observed in fish fingerlings fed on raw moong, followed by raw soybean, cowpea and guar. On the other hand, when beans were processed, the highest growth was observed in fingerlings fed on processed soybean. Studies have further revealed that hydrothermal processing also affected the values of the feed conversion ratio, gross conversion efficiency, protein efficiency ratio, gross protein retention, gross energy retention and ammonia excretion. Proximate composition of the carcass revealed high accumulation of protein, fat and energy in fingerlings fed on processed soybean in comparison with other diets. Keeping in view the higher weight gain in fish fed on hydrothermically processed bean proteins, only processed bean diets were fed to the fingerlings of mrigal and rohu stocked in fish ponds (experiment 2). A significant (P < 0.05) increase in mean fish weight, and specific growth rate was observed in fingerlings fed on hydrothermically processed soybean, followed by moong and cowpea. Weight gain for mrigal fingerlings remained significantly low in comparison to the rohu fingerlings fed on similar diets. An investigation on the effects of feeds on water quality parameters indicate that the trophic status of the ponds where soybean was used as fish feed remained high in comparison to the other treatments. A significant positive correlation of nutrients, NPP and plankton population with fish growth was also observed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted as a trial of using dry whey meal (DWM) as a substitute for fish meal (FM) in practical diets for Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus. Triplicate fish groups were fed on five isonitrogenous (30.2%) and isolipidic (6.9%) diets. The control diet (D1) used FM as the sole protein source. In the other four diets (D2–D5), FM protein was substituted by 25, 50, 75, or 100% DWM. Fish (3.5 ± 0.1 g) were stocked at a rate of 20 fish per 100-L aquarium and fed one of the tested diets up to satiation twice daily for 12 weeks. Fish growth, feed utilization, protein efficiency ratio, apparent protein utilization, and energy utilization for fish fed DWM diets up to 75% FM (D2–D4) tended to be higher but were not statistically different than the control diet. No significant effect of diet was found in whole-body moisture, crude protein, and total ash contents. Whole-body lipid content in fish fed the 100% DWM (D5) diet was significantly higher than that for fish fed the control diet. The optimal replacement level of FM by DWM was estimated by second-order polynomial regression to be 62.5%.  相似文献

The value of toasted Mucuna utilis seed meals was investigated in this study by evaluating the nutritional profile and the utilization of the processed seeds in isonitrogenous (35% CP) and isocaloric diets (17 kJ g?1) for African catfish Clarias gariepinus (Burchell 1822). Toasting the M. utilis seed significantly reduced the levels of tannins, phytate, trypsin, and hemagglutinin in the seeds. However, protein, gross energy, arginine, histidine, and valine were increased (P ≤ 0.05). The processed seed was then used to formulate five experimental diets by progressively increasing its inclusion (by 50 g kg?1) from zero up to 200 g kg?1. A sixth diet was also formulated with raw M. utilis included at 200 g kg?1 to determine the efficacy of the processing method applied in this study. Fifty fingerlings of C. gariepinus (2.02 g ± 0.08) stocked in 18 hapas measuring 1 × 1 × 1 m3 were then fed the diets for 56 days. The growth of C. gariepinus fingerlings was significantly improved by the addition of the toasted M. utilis seed meal. However, fish fed the diet containing 200 g kg?1 of raw M. utilis had poor growth with higher mortality (35%). Estimation of the feeding cost using the diets revealed reduction in production cost of fish with the inclusion of toasted M. utilis seed meal. It was concluded that toasting significantly improved the nutritional quality of this unconventional feedstuff, allowing better utilization at up to 200 g kg?1 inclusion level in the diet of African catfish C. gariepinus.  相似文献

This study tested the onion powder (OP) supplementation in the diet of the olive flounder on the growth, body composition, and lysozyme activity. Thirty‐five fish averaging 5.1 g were randomly stocked into 18 individual 180‐L flow‐through tanks. A commercially available OP was used as a dietary additive. Six experimental diets were prepared to contain OP at the concentrations of 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 5% for diets OP‐0, OP‐0.5, OP‐1, OP‐2, OP‐3, and OP‐5, respectively. After the 8‐wk feeding trial, 20 fish from each tank were infected with Edwardsiella tarda and mortality was monitored for the following 96 h. No distinctive improvement in survival, weight gain, or feed efficiency of fish was observed at the end of the 8‐wk feeding trial. Lysozyme activity in fish fed the OP‐0.5 diet was higher than that of fish fed the OP‐0, OP‐1, OP‐2, OP‐3, and OP‐5 diets. The cumulative mortality of fish fed the OP‐0.5, OP‐1, OP‐2, OP‐3, and OP‐5 diets was lower than that of fish fed the OP‐0 diet at 72 h after E. tarda infection. Dietary inclusion of 0.5% OP was effective at improving lysozyme activity of fish, and OP seemed to be an effective immunostimulant to lower mortality upon E. tarda infection.  相似文献

Eight isonitrogenous (approximately 35 % crude protein) and isocaloric (17.58 kJ g?1) diets incorporating raw and fermented sesame oilseed meal replacing other feed ingredients including fishmeal at 10, 20, 30 and 40 % levels by weight into a fishmeal-based reference diet (RD) were fed to rohu, Labeo rohita, fingerlings (mean initial weight 3.19 ± 0.09 g) for 80 days. Two phytase-producing bacterial strains (LF1 and LH1 of Bacillus licheniformis) isolated from the foregut and hindgut regions of adult L. rohita were used for fermentation of oilseed meal for 15 days at 37 ± 2 °C. Fermentation of sesame seed meal was effective in significantly reducing the crude fibre content and anti-nutritional factors such as tannins and phytic acid and enhancing available free amino acids, free fatty acids and mineral concentration. In terms of growth, feed conversion ratio and protein efficiency ratio, 30 % fermented oilseed meal incorporated diet resulted in a significantly (P < 0.05) better performance of rohu fingerlings. In general, growth and feed utilization efficiencies of diets containing fermented oilseed meal were superior to diets containing raw meal. The apparent digestibility of protein, lipid, ash and minerals (phosphorus, calcium, manganese, copper and iron) was significantly (P < 0.05) higher in fish fed diet containing 30 % fermented oilseed meal in comparison with those fed RD. The maximum deposition of protein in the carcass was recorded in fish fed the diet containing 30 % fermented seed meal.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted from December 2003 to April 2004 to observe the over‐wintering growth of freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, with catla, Catla catla and rohu, Labeo rohita in polyculture using formulated diets. The study was conducted in eight experimental ponds, each 80 m2. Three experimental diets containing 30% protein were prepared using fish meal, meat and bone meal, mustard oilcake, rice bran, wheat bran and molasses (binder), and assigned to treatments T1, T2 and T3 respectively. A commercial diet from Saudi‐Bangla Fish Feed was assigned to T4 (reference diet). Each treatment had two replicate ponds. Juvenile prawns and catla and rohu fingerlings (initial weight 1.60±0.10, 30.0±1.2 and 25.0±1.1 g respectively) were stocked at a ratio of 2:1:1 (prawn:catla:rohu). A total of 160 prawn and fish (20 000 ha?1) were stocked in each pond. Fish were fed twice daily at 3% body weight (b.w.) for the first 3 months and 5% b.w. for the last 2 months. Prawns in T1 fed diet 1 had significantly higher (P<0.05) weight gain compared with that of T3. The reference group and T2 had intermediate values not significantly different from either. Weight gains of catla and rohu were significantly higher in T1. The feed conversion ratio values of different diets ranged between 1.89 and 2.13. Survival (%) ranged from 90.0% to 95.0% for catla, 87.5% to 92.5% for rohu and 70.0% to 76.3% for M. rosenbergii, and there were no significant differences (P>0.05) among different treatments. Total production ranged between 2196 and 2679 kg ha?1, with T1 showing significantly higher production and net profit (taka 56 531.9 ha?1). The results of the study demonstrated that it is possible to culture M. rosenbergii with carp in polyculture during the winter utilizing the late‐produced PLs. Further study is needed to determine the optimum stocking density of M. rosenbergii in carp polyculture.  相似文献

A basal diet containing 45% protein, 10% lipid, and 1.95% tryptophan (Trp) was formulated, and then supplemented with crystalline Trp (0, 0.1, 0.5, and 1% of the diet) or whey (16.9%) to evaluate the physiological effects of juvenile (initial weight: 0.57 ± 0.15 g) barramundi over a 58‐d rearing period. Significant reductions in growth and feed intake were observed in fish offered diets supplemented with Trp as compared to those offered the basal diet or the whey diet. Brain serotonin increased in fish fed the 1% Trp and whey diets albeit a decrease in cannibalism was not observed. Phagocytic activity, and Mx gene expression in spleens were not significantly changed among all groups. There were significant increases in lysozyme activity in the 1% Trp and whey groups, respiratory burst in the whey group, and Mx gene expression in head kidneys in the 1% Trp group 12 h after nerve necrosis virus (NNV) injection and in the whey 12 group and 24 h after NNV injection. Cumulative mortalities of fish fed the whey diet were significantly lower than those of fish fed the basal diet after Aeromonas hydrophila infection, but not Trp groups. Based on these results, diets supplemented with whey had reduced mortality when challenged with A. hydrophila and consequently function as an immunostimulant.  相似文献

Efficacy of Thymus vulgaris essential oils was assessed on growth, immune response and disease resistance of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Fish weighing 10 g were fed with dietary supplemented of the oils at 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 ml/kg feed for 2 months. Fish fed with the oils at 0.5 ml/kg feed demonstrated a better weight gain and specific growth rate, compared to other treatments (p < .05). Fish fed with 1.0 ml the oils showed the highest up‐regulation of complement component 3 (C3) and (cluster of differentiation 4) (CD4) genes expression (p < .05), while lysozyme gene expression level significantly increased in fish fed with 2.0 ml of the oils. In addition, at the end of the experiment, the expression of C3 and CD4 genes were significantly up‐regulated in fish fed with 1.0 and 2.0 ml of the oils, while IL‐1ß and lysozyme genes expression levels were significantly decreased in fish fed 2.0 ml oils, towards the end of the trial (p < .05). There was a fluctuation in the levels of Alanine aminotransferase, Aspartate aminotransferase and Alkaline phosphatase in all treatments during the experiment. When treated fish were challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila, the highest survival rate was observed in 0.5 ml/kg treatment, followed by 2 and 1 mg/kg treatments. Overall, these findings demonstrated that dietary administration of T. vulgaris oils especially at 0.5 mg/kg feed can be considered as a potential component for enhancing of the growth, immune responses and disease resistance of trout against motile Aeromonas septicemia caused by A. hydrophila.  相似文献

An 8‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary probiotics on growth, non‐specific immune responses and disease resistance in juvenile rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Fish averaging 5.8 ± 0.8 g (mean ± SD) were fed one of the five experimental diets; one control (Cont), and four other diets were prepared by supplementing single probiotics 1 (Bacillus subtilis; SP1, 0.5%), single probiotics 2 (Bacillus licheniformis; SP2, 0.5%), multi‐probiotics (B. subtilis + B. licheniformis; MP, 0.5%) and oxytetracycline (OTC) at 5 g OTC kg?1 diet. After 8 weeks of the feeding trial, weight gain and specific growth rate of fish fed SP1, SP2 and OTC diets were significantly higher than those of fish fed Cont diet (P < 0.05). Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and lysozyme activities of fish fed SP1, SP2 and MP diets were significantly higher than those of fish fed Cont diet (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in SOD and lysozyme activities among fish fed SP1, SP2, MP and OTC diets. In challenge test with Aeromonas salmonicida for 15 days, fish fed SP1, SP2 and MP diets showed significantly higher cumulative survival rate than those of fish fed Cont diet (P < 0.05). However, there were no significant differences in cumulative survival rate among fish fed SP1, SP2, MP and OTC diets. Although there was a little advantage in fish fed MP diet in terms of non‐specific immune responses, single or multi‐probiotics are equally effective statistically. These results indicate that single or multi‐probiotics had equal beneficial effects as an antibiotic replacer on growth performance, non‐specific immune responses and disease resistance in juvenile rainbow trout.  相似文献

An 80-day feeding experiment was conducted to evaluate the suitability of incorporation of Chuni, a commercially available low-cost cattle fodder, comprising cereal grains and leguminous seeds, into the practical diets for rohu, Labeo rohita (Hamilton), an Indian major carp, fingerlings (average weight= 6.23 0.15g). Four experimental diets, incorporating Chuni at levels of 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% into a fish-meal-based control diet (35% protein) were formulated. In terms of fish growth, feed conversion, protein efficiency ratio, apparent nutrient digestibility, and protein and lipid deposition in fish muscle, 10%Chuni incorporated diet showed the best performance of fish and was comparable to those with the control diet. However, the growth of fish was lower with higher levels of Chuni incorporation (20% or more), which resulted in poor nutrient digestibility. The present results indicate that Chuni could be used as a component in the supplementary diet for L. rohita fingerlings, partially substituting the fish-meal-based diet up to the extent of 10%, and it this is the first report on the use of Chuni as a dietary ingredient in diets for carp.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to design an optimum feed mix for the growth of rohu (Labeo rohita) in light-limited indoor culture with biofloc as a component along with fish feed. Eighteen 700-L tanks were utilized for producing biofloc using aquaculture effluent from a nearby carp culture pond. Fifteen different feed mixes were prepared using fish feed and biofloc in dry (4 % moisture content) and wet (90 % moisture content) forms at different proportions and used in feeding trials (three replications) conducted in forty-five 50-L glass aquarium stocked with three rohu fingerlings with average individual weight of 20 ± 1.5 g for a period of 90 days. Fish survival was 100 % in all the treatments. Mixture design was used to obtain a solution of best combination of feed source to obtain the optimum growth parameters of rohu. Optimum growth parameters (net yield, specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio and feed conversion ratio) of rohu were obtained at feed mix containing 50 % fish feed and 50 % wet floc. The nutritional quality of biofloc was found to be quite suitable for rohu. The images of 3-week-old biofloc captured in scanning electron microscope (SEM) indicated the presence of different types of bacteria, algae, protozoa, rotifers, etc. in different sizes ranging from 10 to 100 μm.  相似文献

To completely replace the fish meal by a mixture of earthworm and maggot meals, experimental diets were tested during 42 days on Clarias gariepinus fingerlings. Five isoproteic and isoenergetic diets (40 % crude protein and 17.9 ± 0.3 kJ g?1) including the control diet (D1) based on fish meal, were formulated. All these diets satisfied the essential amino acids requirements of C. gariepinus fingerlings. These diets were tested on triplicate groups of 50 fishes (initial body weight: 3 ± 0.1 g) bred in tank (0.5 m3). The approximate ratios 2:5; 1:4; 1:12 and 0:1 between the earthworm meal and the maggot meal were used, respectively, to formulate four diets D2, D3, D4 and D5 without fish meal. After the feeding period, significant differences (P < 0.05) were observed on growth, feed utilization between control diet (D1) and test diets (D2–D5). Fish fed earthworm- and maggot-based diets were grown better than those fed the control diet. Survival and feed utilization were not significantly affected by the ratio between earthworm meal and maggot meal in the test diets. Lipid content was higher in carcass and fillet of fishes fed earthworm- and maggot meals-based diets than that of those fed fish meal-based diet. This study indicates that when the ratio 2:5 between the earthworm meal and the maggot meal is used to entirely replace fish meal and the ratio lysine/arginine of the diet is inferior to 1, the growth performances and feed utilization of Clarias gariepinus fingerlings are improved.  相似文献

In this study, we evaluated the effects of dietary green tea ethanol extract (GTE) supplementation on growth performance, body composition, and stress recovery of the juvenile black rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli. The fish (mean body weight, 8.1 ± 2.0 g) were fed fish meal diets that included 0 % (control), 1, 3, and 5 % GTE for 8 weeks. Weight gain, specific growth rate, feed efficiency, and protein efficiency rate were measured and compared among the fish in the different groups. The whole body and liver lipid compositions of fish fed the control diet were higher than those of the fish fed the GTE diets. Lysozyme activity in the plasma samples of fish fed the GTE diet showed an increasing trend in a dose-dependent manner. After administrating anesthesia (2-phenoxyethanol), the stress recovery time differed significantly between the control and the 3 and 5 % GTE diet groups and the mortality of fish fed on the GTE diet was significantly lower than that of the control group. In addition, plasma glucose levels in the fish fed the 3 % GTE diet showed a rapid recovery. Our results showed that the addition of GTE to the fish diet improved lipid utilization, lysozyme activity and stress recovery, and reduced total cholesterol levels in a dose-dependent manner.  相似文献
