Experience in Town Planning in Mountainous Regions

According to the practice of urban planning in mountainous regions, based on the experience in decision on small town's development, traffic planning and downtown designing etc, some proposals on general program and concrete rules in town planning were given, hightlighting the distinctive characteristics of town planning in mountainous regions, different from those of city planning.     

Cavitation in ESWL

Cavitations are not only the dominant mechanisms of the stone comminution in ESWL but also the leading factors for the tissue injury. This conclusion has been shown by the theoretical analysis, the numerical simulation, the experiments in vivo and in vitro and the practice of the clinic. This paper summarizes the development in the field of the cavitation in ESWL, which lays the foundation for the further study of the ESWL. There are many difficulties and challenges in the research of the ESWL which needs further study in the theoretical field , the innovation for the numerical methods, the amelioration for the experiment technology and a lot of serious clinic practices. Compared with the theoretical analysis and the experiment technology, numerical simulation is an economical and safe method for the research of ESWL.     

Recent Progresses in the Studies of Transfer Genes in Alfalfa

Genetic transfer in plants means inducing exogenous genes into recipient plants by molecular biological methods and producing exotic genetic characters in recipient plants. Transgenic technique can more quickly ,effectively and directly get a breed than traditional breed system. The technique has developed the focus of breeding researches in plants. This paper reviews progresses, problems and resolutions in the studies of transfer genes in alfalfa in recent years.     

Application of GA in Calculating Factor of Safety in SlopeStability

How to ascertain the sliding surface and the factor of safety(FS) is the key problem of slope stability.The failure model of a slope is supposed at first and then the sliding surface and the factor of safety are computed approximately during analyzing the slope stability all over the world.However,the hypothesis cannot reflect the real state of slope sliding.In this paper,the critical failure surface with the lowest value of FS is computed and the better result is got by means of GA.     

Research of Flow Characteristics of Multi-jets in the Same Direction and in Great Velocitv Difference in Combustion Chamber

The flow characteristics of multi-jes in the same direction and in great velocitydifference in combustion chamber were researched by the cold mould simulating test of self-designedlow- calorie value gas burner.The results showed that the large negative pressure region and back-flow region would be produced by the multi-annular jets with high-velocity air involve intensivelythe central low-velocity gas jet and by virtue of the small main air volume resulting by some extentcirculation of gas jet.These have the advantage of realising homogeneously mixing between air jetsand gas jet and combusting steadily.

通过对中国1978~2003年粮食生产发展历程和特点的回顾、分析，说明中国已经具备667m2产出300kg、总产5亿t的粮食生产能力，中国人对粮食丰欠和粮价波动的承受力大为增强，但是粮食生产进一步取得新突破的难度增加，粮食生产效益下降的趋势不可忽视。同时，提出了在科学发展观为指导，建立粮食生产长效机制的四条对策，即以年人均380kg作为中国粮食生产的安全线，立法保护足量、优质的耕地，逐步扩大粮食生产规模以提高粮食生产效益，粮食生产者要自强自立争取平等的市场经济地位     

Advance in Research on Interfacial Reaction in SiCp/Al Composites

Researchers aronnd the world conducted experiments according to the aspects of interfacial reaction principle, contributing factors, control approaches, etc. In the aspect of interfacial reaction principle, possibly existing interfacial chemical reaction between Al alloy liquid and SiC particles, interfacial reaction process and model, phases in the interface, etc. , have been researched. In the aspect of contributing factors to interfacial reaction, the relationship among interfacial reaction and process, parameters of fabrication such as effect of Mg, Si content, SiC pretreatment, temperature, cooling speed to interfacial reaction has been investigated. In the aspect of efficient control approaches to interfacial reaction, matrix alloying, surface treatment to SiC particles, process selection and process parameters control have been studied. Research direction of interfacial reaction for the future can be generalized as the following aspects; interfacial fine structure, chemical thermodynamics and kinetics of interfacial reaction, establishment and optimization of heat and mass transfer model to interfacial reaction and new efficient control approaches to interfacial reaction.

Who benefits from international tourism in small Pacific islands? Value capture in the hotel industry in Hawaii

There is a consensus among small Pacific islands that the extent to which they benefit from international tourism largely depends on how much of the value created by tourism remains in the local economy. This study examines how the value created in the hotel industry is distributed among the key stakeholders in a small Pacific island context. We used aggregated income statements of full-service and limited-service hotels from the STR Inc., a hotel industry data company, to calculate the value distribution among the key stakeholders in the hotel industry of a small Pacific island. We found that labour and owners captured most of the value created, whereas hotel management companies and franchisors captured a small share of the value. Our results suggest that tourism workers' ability to take united action and hence to negotiate higher wages will result in higher value capture by local labour and less value leaking out of the local economy. Our results also reveal that foreign ownership in the hotel industry is the single largest cause of economic leakages. The study has several implications for the tourism-based growth policies in small Pacific islands.

The paper deals with the concept of housing industrialisation, the importance of promoting industrialised housing in Chongqing. It analyses the current condition and the possible implementation approaches for developing industrialised housing in Chongqing. It addresses the aim, objectives, suggested organisation structure and the rules and responsibilities of each party in this project. The paper also mentions the importance for international cooperation and what overseas participants can offer for this project.     

Application of Fuzzy Comprehensive Judge Method in Determining Supplying Risks in Automobile Parts Enterprises in an Uncertain Environment

Based on analyses of the main factors that influence the supplying risks in automobile parts enterprises within our country,a supplying risks judgment system is established. To determine the risks, a fuzzy comprehensive judge method is put forward with AHP method. In the end, with an example of a company, supply risks are analyzed, which provides a referential method for determining supplying risks in automobile parts enterprises.     

Analysis of UHF Method Used in Partial Discharge Detection in GIS

The possibility of UHF (ultra high frequency) method used in partial discharge detection in GIS is analyzed, and the UHF sensor, simulating passive filter, detecting the method of wide-band and narrow-band are studied, in order to avoid interferes of low-frequency. The authors develop an inner loop sensor in GIS model and investigate UHF method detecting partial discharge in GIS. The results indicate that the UHF system of detecting PD can effectively detect partial discharge and avoid outer corona interfere and Periodic pulse interfere. At the same time, narrow-frequency PD detection is an effective detection method to restrain UHF interferes.

Life Science in China

Life science in China had got preliminary development in the first half of the 20th century. In the second half of the 20th century, molecular biology began to be apphed to life science. Then biological molecule, enzymatic structure and function, biological film, molecular genetics and gene project etc acquired greater accomplishments. Crystalline Bovine Insulin with relatively high activity （in 1965） and Yeast Alanine Transfer Ribonucleic Acid with the same natural chemical structure and complete biology activity （in 1981） were f＇trstly synthesized in the world. This achievement has stimulated Chinese life scientists to profounder and broader research. The pioneering works that has important significance to develop life science, agriculture and medicine were successively published, including the sequencing of human genome that has resounding impacts recently （in 2000） and mechanism research on drosophila selectivity behavior （in 2001）. China participated in the human genome project as its unique member from developing countries.     

HMG Superovulation in Rabbits

HMG (made in china), PMSG and hcG on superovulation of 40 female rabbits are studied. Results indicate that the HMG(made in china) has a very good superovulation effect on rabbit. Among the treated animals 90% responded to the treatment and the average of embryos per rabbits collected is 30.2, 103 embryos were collected. 7.6 embryos were collected per rabbit. The difference is great (P<0.01). The superovulation respose of rabbits is better in spring than in Autumn.     

Color Application in Architecture

As a great important element of urban landscape, the architectural color reflects the history, features and cultural tradition of an area. It also has a great effect on the creativity of architecture and urban culture. In this paper, the positive and negative effects of architectural color design on protecting human culture and environment are analyzed. Practical suggestions on color application in city planning program and architectural design are given.

Advance in Mathematic Model of Solidification Heat Transfer Process in Continuous Casting

The mathematic model of solidification heat transfer process in continuous casting strand is useful for quantitatively analyzing heat transfer in continuous casting process, quality control and process control. The heat transfer in continuous cast strand in crystallizer and secondary cooling zone have been analyzed. The attention has been paid to basic logic and methodology in model building up. Typical methods determing solution condition and parameters for the model have been discussed. Some numerical methods at the present time for solving solidification heat transfer model, such as finite difference method, finite-element method and boundary element, have been investigated comparatively. In the future, working on solidification heat transfer model, which is more practical, and the integration of the control model will play an important role in the development of high efficiency continuous casting technology.     

Disscussion in the Rural Power Network Construction in the New Rural Construction

To adapt to the continuous improvement of rural power consumption level in the new rural construction,in particular,with the continuous development of the rural economy,the actual operation of the rural power network has emerged as the high loss of electrical power which leads to a greater cost of the electricity,lower power supply reliability,the supply voltage and frequency do not satisfiy with requirements,etc.Through analysis of a typical rural power network,from the overall planning of the transmission to distribution equipments(such as lines,transformers and reactive-load compensation devices),the author proposes some specific measures such as reducing power loss and improving the voltage quality and reliability methods.Through calculation for lines power loss rate and percent of voltage pass,the results show that the methods proposed by the author are effective.The directions to the development trend of the rural power network is given.
