meta-Aramid fibers have an excellent heat-resistant property and are widely used for protective clothings such as fire-fighter suit and racing suit. They can also be used as military uniforms such as flight suit or army uniform. Vat dyes are specially used for military uniforms owing to outstanding fastness properties, earth tone shade, and near infrared (NIR) camouflage. In this study, 100 % meta-aramid woven fabric was dyed with three vat dyes using an exhaustion method and their dyeing and fastness properties were investigated. Color yields of the vat dyes on the meta-aramid fabric were found to be dependent upon dyeing temperature, liquor ratio, amount of reducing agent, and amount of salt. Dyeing behavior of the vat dye on the meta-aramid fiber was very similar to that on cellulose fibers. It was found that the meta-aramid fabric dyed with 1% owf of C.I. Vat Green 1 satisfied the tolerance of the reflectance spectrum of forest green color in the Korean military standard. Thermal stability and mechanical property of the meta-aramid fabric did not significantly affected by the vat dyeing process. Wash and perspiration fastness was generally good but rubbing and light fastness was unsatisfied.  相似文献

Three unreported cationic reactive dyes based on azobenzene were synthesized using a novel synthetic route. Synthesized dyestuffs containing three primary color dyes were characterized by FTIR, H-NMR, LC-MS, Element Analysis and UV-vis spectroscopic techniques. The absorption spectra of dyes were measured in three solvents with different polarities. The dyeing and color fastness properties of three cationic reactive dyes on wool, acrylic and wool/acrylic blend fabrics were determined. The optimum pH for wool and acrylic fabrics were 6 and 5, respectively. Effect of temperature, time on dyeing properties and color fastness properties on wool fabric showed the same tendency with acrylic fabric. The K/S value of wool fabric dyed with three dyes was similar to that of acrylic fabric when both fabrics were dyed simultaneously in the same dyebath using low dye concentration. Wool/acrylic blend fabric dyed with three cationic reactive dyes using onebath one-step method achieved good union dyeing property and excellent color fastness.  相似文献

There has been growing interest in the use of bioresource waste for natural dyeing and finishing. This paper discusses dye extraction from the novel source fruit shell waste of Sterculia foetida and its application on mulberry silk fabric to confer aesthetic coloration and wellness properties such as ultra-violet (UV) protection and antibacterial properties. Treated fabrics showed a substantial increase in color depth and adequate wash, light, and rubbing fastness properties for dyed silk fabrics with and without mordanting. Pre-and post-mordanting of silk fabrics were carried out using mordants such as alum, harda (myrobalan), and copper sulfate. UV-visible spectrophotometric analysis of fruit shell extract (FSE) at different pHs and FSE with three different mordants at neutral pH was used to understand the phenomena of dye-fiber interaction. The treated fabrics characterised by ATR-FTIR, SEM-EDS, and XRD analysis indicate the nature of dye fiber interaction justifying the multifunctional properties. The treated fabric also showed very good ultraviolet protection property and antibacterial properties both against S. aureus and E. coli bacteria even after ten washes. The results indicate that Sterculia foetida fruit shell extract offers an excellent potential as coloration, antibacterial, and ultraviolet protective agent for mulberry silk fabric.  相似文献

Dyeing and color fastness properties of a reactive disperse dye containing an acetoxyethylsulphone group on PET, Nylon, silk and N/P fabrics were examined. The reactive disperse dye exhibited almost the same dyeing properties on PET fabric as a conventional disperse dye except the level of dye uptake. The most appropriate pH and dyeing temperature for the dyeing of Nylon fabric were 7 and 100°C respectively. The build-up on Nylon fabric was good and various color fastnesses were good to excellent due to the formation of the covalent bond. Application of the reactive disperse dye on silk fabric at pH 9 and 80°C yielded optimum color strength. The rate of dyeing on Nylon fabric was faster than that on PET fabric when both fabrics were dyed simultaneously in a dye bath, accordingly color strength of the dyed Nylon was higher. The reactive disperse dye can be applied for one-step and one-bath dyeing of N/P mixture fabric with good color fastness.  相似文献

Cellulose fibers coated with an N-halamine precursor have been reported. Cellulose fibers were dipped and padded with m-aramid dissolved in N,N-dimethylacetamide followed by coagulation in distilled water. The morphology of the maramid-coated cellulose fibers was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. The m-aramid on cellulose fibers was characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and the chlorination of m-aramid on the cellulose fibers was determined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and XPS. The liquid and gas permeability of m-aramid coated fabrics were conducted. Wash fastness was performed to measure the durability of the m-aramid on the cellulose fibers. The chlorinated m-aramid-coated cellulose fibers preformed a 7-log reduction against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The chlorine lost after the bacterial inactivation could be regained after a simple re-chlorination process.  相似文献

Actinomycins as clinical medicine have been extensively studied, while few investigations were conducted to discover the feasibility of actinomycins as antimicrobial natural dye contributing to the medical value of the functional fabrics. This study was focused on the application of actinomycin X2 (Ac.X2), a peptide pigment cultured from marine-derived Streptomyces cyaneofuscatus, in the dyeing and finishing of silk fabric. The dyeing potential of Ac.X2 with silk vs. cotton fabrics was assessed. As a result, the silk fabric exhibited greater uptake and color fastness with Ac.X2. Through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses, some changes of chemical property for the dyed fabric and Ac.X2 were studied. The silk fabric dyed with Ac.X2 exhibited good UV protection ability. The antibacterial properties of dyed and finished silk were also evaluated, which exhibited over 90% antibacterial activity even after 20 washing cycles. In addition, the brine shrimp assay was conducted to evaluate the general toxicity of the tested fabric, and the results indicated that the dyed silk fabrics had a good biological safety property.  相似文献

Aramid fibers have been known to difficult to dye with conventional dyes and dyeing techniques because of its extremely high crystallinity and compactness. In order to make the aramid fibers dyeable to a bright color in deep shade, meta-aramid fabrics were photografted under continuous UV irradiation with dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide (DMAPMA) and benzophenone as a monomer and a hydrogen-abstractable photoinitiator respectively. Several factors affecting the photografting treatment of the meta-aramid fabrics were investigated including monomer and photoinitiator concentrations. ATR, ESCA and SEM analysis indicated significant alterations on the chemical structure and atomic composition of the photografted fabric surface and the fabric surface was covered with the grafted polymers. While the pristine meta-aramid fabrics showed no appreciable dyeability to the α-bromoacrylamide type reactive dyes, the grafted aramid fabrics showed the remarkably enhanced dyeability to the reactive dyes, which was proportional to the graft yield indicating the covalent bond formation between the dyes and the secondary amino groups in the grafted DMAPMA. In case of C.I. Reactive Red 84, a K/S value of 14.8 can be obtained with the grafted meta-aramid fabrics with a graft yield of 7.6 % (w/w). Also and the color fastness properties of the dyed fabrics was excellent in the conditions of washing, rubbing and solar irradiation.  相似文献

Due to compact structure of meta-aramid fiber caused by the intermolecular hydrogen bondings of amide groups, the degree of crystallinity increased, thus its poor dyeing properties arises. Among commercial dyes used in many previous researches, the basic dyes showed comparatively higher exhaustion yields as comparing to those of disperse dyes and acid dyes. The anthraquinone moiety was adopted for good performances of light fastness on meta-aramid fiber. In this study, eight of anthraquinone dye was synthesized. The three of them were obtained from chloro-anthraquinone, by Ullmann reactions with the corresponding heterocylic residues such as morpholine and one of them was obtained from lueco quinizarine by condensation with the corresponding heterocylic residues. The others were prepared by quaternization from dyes above. The synthesized disperse and cationic dyes were dyed on meta-aramid fibers and investigated for their build-up dyeing properties and wash fastness.  相似文献

The dyeing and color fastness properties of two reactive-disperse dyes containing a sulfatoethylsulfone group on nylon, PET and N/P mixture fabrics were examined. The rate of dyeing on nylon fabric was greatly dependent upon dye bath pH. The final dye uptakes at all pH, however, were as high as 97 %. Color strength of the dyed nylon fabric linearly increased up to 0.5 %owf and then slowed down over 1 %owf dyeing. Washing and rubbing fastness of the dyed nylon fabric were excellent, but grade of light fastness was moderate. Dyeability of the reactive-disperse dyes on PET fabric was not much affected by pH, and K/S values of PET fabric dyed at pH 5–8 were lower than those of nylon fabric at all pH examined. Buildup and color fastnesses properties on PET fabric showed the same tendency with nylon fabric. The rate of dyeing of the reactive-disperse dyes on nylon fabric was faster than on PET fabric when both fabrics were dyed simultaneously in the same dye pot, resulting in higher color strength of nylon than PET. The reactive-disperse dyes were found to be adequate to the one-bath, one-step dyeing of N/P mixture fabric when applied at pH 5 and 120 °C.  相似文献

In this research we investigated the dyeing of cotton fabrics with extracts of Xylocarpus granatum, a mangrove plant with a long history of use in leather tanning and textile dyeing. X. granatum bark was extracted and spray-dried, yielding a tannin-rich, reddish-brown powder. This powder proved a suitable colorant for the natural dyeing of cotton with promising color fastness properties to wet treatments (washing, water, sea water, and perspiration), hot pressing, crocking, and light exposure. However, the dye alone produced only weak levels of coloration and therefore metallic salt mordants were employed to improve the color strength, through the formation of insoluble tannate complexes. The resulting fabric K/S values were dependent on the mordant used and exhibited the following trend: ferric sulfate > sodium dichromate > copper sulfate > potassium aluminum sulfate > no mordant, for fabrics exposed to mordants before and after dyeing. Mordanting resulted in slight variations in shade and color fastness. In most cases, the color fastness properties were preserved, except for color fastness to light and hot pressing, for which lowered ratings were found for some mordants. Stiffness and mechanical performance were not greatly affected by dyeing or mordanting, except for sodium dichromate mordanting which significantly stiffened and weakened the fabric. The ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of all the dyed samples achieved the maximum (50+) level, highlighting the excellent UV shielding properties of the fabric. Overall, X. granatum bark extract is a promising, effective colorant for the natural dyeing of cotton in terms of appearance, fastness, and physical characteristics.  相似文献

Mature red fruits of Opuntia ficus-indica contain two soluble pigment, betanin and indicaxanthin. The optimal conditions for dye extraction were to mix 50 g of juice from cactus pears with 100 mL of acidified water as solvent for dye extraction. Two main dyes were purified from the pigment extract by chromatography and identified by UV-vis, HPLC and LC-MS techniques as indicaxanthin (15 mg per 100 g) and betanin (280 mg per 100 g). The effect of dye bath pH, salt concentration, dyeing time and temperature was studied. The optimal conditions for dyeing modified acrylic fabrics with betanin dye were carried out at 50 °C for 45 min at pH 5. Un-mordanted samples have good properties of water and washing fastness. Mordant CoSO4 was found to give good light fastness (rating 5).  相似文献

A chalcone compound Isosalipurposide 1 was qualitatively isolated from Acacia cyanophylla yellow flowers. The dyeing of wool fabrics with this chalcone compound as a natural dye has been studied. The effect of dye bath pH and dyeing temperature were investigated. The obtained shades were bright with generally a good fastness. A post-mordanting method was used in the dyeing of wool with this chalcone dye. It was found that, generally, mordanting improved light fastness especially in the case of zinc sulphate.  相似文献

This study was carried out to optimize dyeing conditions of unripe Citrus Unshiu extract on silk fabric and to evaluate antimicrobial activity of the dyed fabric for its potential use as a functional natural dye. Unripe fruits of Citrus Unshiu in Jeju Island, Korea, extracted in 80 % Ethanol solution to final solid dye powder were dyed on silk fabric under a variety of conditions such as dye bath concentrations, temperature, and dyeing duration together with mordanting. Dyeing fastness properties to washing, rubbing, perspiration, and light were tested and the antimicrobial activities of the dyed fabric against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae were investigated quantitatively. As results, the fabric showed the maximum dye uptake (K/S) under the conditions of 80 °C for temperature, 30 min for duration, and 600 % (o.w.f.) for dye concentration. Both pre- and post-mordanting seemed not to be effective on increasing K/S values of the dyed silk fabrics under the optimum dyeing conditions. Fastness ratings to washing, rubbing, and perspiration were all very good (4–5 grades) for both 300 and 600 % dyed silk fabrics. Excellent antimicrobial activities over 99 % reduction rate against two both bacteria were exhibited for all of dyed fabrics undergone more than 300 % of dye concentration. From these results, it was concluded that the dye concentration of 300 % of unripe Citrus Unshiu could be employed to produce antimicrobial silk fabric. Furthermore, to get more saturated shades on the fabric by the citrus, higher dye concentration such as 600 % was available as well.  相似文献

Three hemicyanine dyes were employed in dyeing acrylic fabrics following traditional cationic dyeing procedures. The influence of the substituting groups of the dye molecule on the sorption rate and sorption isotherms was analyzed. The results showed that those dyed acrylic fabrics using hemicyanine dyes had obvious fluorescent effect in the spectra range 550–750 nm. In addition, according to the EN-471 standard (2003), the chromaticity of dyed acrylic fabric was calculated to evaluate whether hemicyanine dye could meet the requirements of the fluorescent dye for high visibility warning clothing.  相似文献

Formulations of acrylamido dyes containing comonomers can be photografted onto cotton fabric upon UV irradiation at room temperature without neutral salts, which makes it a novel coloration process of excellent environmental friendliness. The photografting of the dyes can be assisted by the copolymerization of the acrylamide comonomer which may reduce the steric hindrance of the bulky dyes. About 90 % of the dyes and 94 % of the acrylamide are photopolymerized in the solution and the degree of polymerization is estimated to be 13.2 according to 1H-NMR and MALDI-TOF mass analyses. The optimal K/S values of the grafted cotton fabrics showed 13.3 and 12.3 for red and yellow dyes, respectively. The optimal UV-grafting coloration can be achieved when a UV energy of 25 J/cm2 was irradiated on the padded fabrics with a formulation of 0.65 mole ratio of acrylamide to the dyes, 7 wt% acetophenone photoinitiator (Irgacure 2959) based on the dye weight under pH 6. Furthermore, the color fastness properties of the grafted fabric were superior to those of conventional reactive dyeing of the dyes due to higher molecular weight of the polymerized dyes.  相似文献

Two functional compounds were successfully extracted from neem (Azadiracta indica): a tannin-rich natural dye and an antibacterial agent. The dye was extracted from the bark using water, and the antibacterial from the leaf using methanol. These were used to dye hemp fabrics. Higher color strength values (K/S) were found when dyeing was conducted at a higher dye concentration, elevated temperature, and longer dyeing time. Optimal results were achieved when using 5 %w/v of extracted powder at 100 °C for 60 min. The resulting fabrics appeared reddish-brown, and were rated as good to excellent for color fastness against washing, water, sea water, and perspiration. The antibacterial agent from the neem leaf was extracted by Soxhlet apparatus at 65 °C with methanol as solvent. The dyed and antibacterial-finished hemp fabrics were tested against Staphylococcus aureus, following the percentage reduction test of AATCC 100. The treated fabrics demonstrated a 99.99 % reduction in Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献

In this work, water-extraction of Vitis Vinifera L. (Black Grenache) leaves and analysis of aqueous extracts for anthocyanins were investigated. Vegetable leaves were cultivated in North of Tunisia at different dates. Anthocyanins were identified as main constituents in these natural dyeing materials using high performance liquid chromatography (HPCL). Dyeability of wool and its fastness properties using Vitis Vinifera L. leaves extract were also determined. Aqueous extract of Vitis Vinifera L. leaves has markedly yielded shades with good fastness properties. Thus, affordability is a point favorable for Vitis Vinifera L. leaves. Effects of dye bath pH and temperature on dyeability and fastness proprieties of wool fabrics by aqueous extract of Vitis Vinifera L. leaves were evaluated. Experimental results showed that fastness properties of dyed fabrics ranged from average to very good. Vitis Vinifera L. leaves extracts showed potential to dyeing wool fibers under highly acidic conditions (pH ≤2). The results obtained here revealed that natural dyes extracted from Vitis Vinifera L. leaves can be cost-effective for dyeing wool fabrics.  相似文献

In this study, the natural pigment from sappan was used for the dyeing of wool fabrics after treatment with the protease and transglutaminase. The influences of protease and transglutaminase on the UV/visible absorption spectrum of aqueous extract of sappan were studied. The enzymatic modified wool was compared with non-modified wool in K/S value and fastness after direct dyeing and mordant dyeing. It was shown that protease and transglutaminase made the absorbance at the λ max 540 nm in visible region increase. It suggested that there might be some interaction between the enzymes and sappan dye and the residual enzyme on wool fabric might affect the color of following dyeing. Compared to untreated wool, treatments with protease and transglutaminase enhance K/S value of wool dyed subsequently with sappan. Modification of protease led to some decrease in wet rubbing fastness, whereas transglutaminase had almost no influence on rubbing fastness. Enzymatic treatments have no influence on the washing fastness for samples dyed with sappan.  相似文献

Development of water-soluble dyes for the dyeing of different textile fabrics is essential for the textile industry due to ecological and economical reasons. In this study, a series of new azoic dyes were prepared by diazotization reaction between the phenyl boronic acid and different aniline derivatives, and their dyeing capacity in aqueous solution was evaluated. The synthesized boronic azo dyes present good water solubility and can dye polyamide (nylon), wool, silk, and cellulose acetate fabrics. The effect of factors such as concentration of dye, dyeing temperature, and pH on the level of color strength (K/S) was studied. The dyeing results showed that higher color strength K/S (about 16) and fastness properties (about 4/5) with boronic acid dyes were achieved at higher temperatures avoiding the use of surface agents, mordants, and other polluting chemical additives.  相似文献

The use of non-toxic and eco-friendly natural dyes on textiles has received much attention due to the increased environmental awareness in order to avoid some hazardous synthetic dyes. In the present study, an eco-friendly approach was developed to impart color and antibacterial properties to silk fabrics dyed with turmeric extract as a non-toxic natural colorant. The natural colorant was extracted from Curcuma Longa rhizome. Copper sulfate, ferrous sulfate and potassium aluminium sulfate were applied in a pre-metallization process as mordanting agents. Antibacterial properties of treated fabrics were evaluated against common pathogenic bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive) and Escherichia coli (Gram-negative). The effects of dye concentration and mordant types on the obtained color hues, antibacterial efficiency and color fastness of the fabrics were investigated. The results indicated that mordanted and dyed fabrics possessed desirable antibacterial properties. Complete antibacterial activity of the treated fabrics was obtained with 3 %owf (on weight of the fabric) copper sulfate. It was also shown that increasing the dye concentration could lead to a more efficient antibacterial activity on the mordanted dyed fabrics. An optimum level of the antibacterial activity was observed in the sample treated with 30 %owf of turmeric. Furthermore, the results of CIE L*, a*, b* values, FTIR, washing, light and rubbing fastnesses of the dyed fabrics were reported. The mordanted dyed silk fabrics exhibited desirable color fastness properties. These studies proved a direct relationship between the degree of antibacterial activity of the fabrics treated with turmeric and the metals ion concentration.  相似文献
