Herbicides produce a wide range of toxic side-effects that pose a potential hazard to the environment. The development of natural allelochemicals is one method of addressing these issues. Here, we describe the allelopathic activity of itchgrass ( Rottboellia cochinchinensis ), which can inhibit the seed germination and growth of weeds. Farmers in Lampang, northern Thailand, have been cultivating itchgrass and using it as a mulching material to control other weeds in vegetable fields. It has long been observed that itchgrass interferes with the growth of other plants. This study showed that the density of weed species in the itchgrass-infested areas was lower than that in the itchgrass-uninfested areas. The shoot and root growth of Bidens pilosa , Mimosa pudica , Ageratum conyzoides , Echinochloa crus-galli , Oryza sativa var. RD 6, and Lactuca sativa var. OP were significantly reduced in soil previously planted with itchgrass. Water-soluble extracts from all parts of itchgrass had inhibitory effects on the growth of some test plants. Allelochemicals from itchgrass can inhibit seed germination and plant growth better at a 1 cm distance than at a 3 cm and 5 cm distance from itchgrass. Our results suggest that itchgrass has a strong competitive ability and possible allelopathic activity to other plant species. The allelopathic activity of itchgrass in the soil can influence the germination of adjacent species, causing reduced growth of seedlings.  相似文献

Itchgrass ( Rottboellia exaltata L. f.) is a widespread weed in northern Thailand. The farmers in this area have been using itchgrass as a mulching material in order to control other weeds in vegetable fields. Laboratory experiments were undertaken to investigate the phytotoxic activity of itchgrass powder incorporated into soil in order to evaluate the allelopathic activity in the field. The phytotoxic activity on the growth of radish seedlings ( Raphanus sativa L. var. radicula ), used as a test plant, was more pronounced in the root than in the shoot growth. The phytotoxic activity was found to be similar for the soils incorporated with the shoot or the root powder of itchgrass. The growth of the radish seedlings grown in sea sand and watered with soil water obtained from the soil previously incorporated with itchgrass powder showed a similar inhibition to those planted in the treated soil. The phytotoxic activity on the growth of the radish seedlings in the soil incorporated with the powder decreased over time. It is suggested that itchgrass releases phytotoxic compound(s) into soil water and the concentration of the active compound(s) in the soil water decreases over time.  相似文献

Abstract

The properties of banana spray oils have been investigated by a number of researchers. The results of these investigations are reviewed in this paper, and include information on volatility (distillation range, flash point); flow characteristics (viscosity, pour point); other physical properties (specific gravity, colour, aniline point); and chemical properties (unsulphonated mineral residues, aromatics, paraffins and naphthenes).

A comparison of distillation curves is of greater significance than comparison of individual boiling points. Such a comparison will show whether any one oil product is a homogeneous oil or a mixture of heavy and light oils. Disease control is closely related to volatility of the spray oil; the lower the volatility of the oil the better the disease control. Phytotoxicity (leaf-flecking) increases as the percentage volatility of the spray oil decreases. Oil volatility governs the amount of oil remaining on the leaf after application. The initial amount of oil applied to the leaf is of less significance in the fungistatic effect than is the amount of oil remaining on or in the leaf. From a viewpoint of Sigatoka disease control, flash points are of little significance, but must be considered from the viewpoint of safety in storage, transportation and use.

As the viscosity of spray oils increases [in the range 35-100 Saybolt Universal Seconds (SUS) at 100[ddot]F] disease incidence decreases and phytotoxicity increases on sprayed banana leaves. The naphthenic oils are superior to the paraffinic oils, particularly in the viscosity range of 75-85 SUS at 100[ddot]F, for spraying bananas.

The performance of banana spray oils is related to the proportions of the major hydrocarbon groups (aromatics, naphthenes and paraffins) present in the oil. Properties such as specific gravity and aniline point are indicative of the proportions of the major hydrocarbon groups in a spray oil.

Colour of mineral oils is of no significance in the control of Sigatoka disease. Light mineral oils with unsulphonated mineral residue (U.M.R.) in the range of 70-99.9 are equally effective in Sigatoka disease control regardless of U.M.R. However, the degree of leaf damage (phytotoxicity) is directly related to U.M.R. value. The oils of high U.M.R. cause the least damage. The aromatic fraction of four spray oils tested (heavy paraffinic, light paraffinic, heavy naphthenic and light naphthenic) caused abundant phytotoxicity at a deposit level of 3 US gal/ac. There was little or no phytotoxicity and no appreciable disease control at a deposit level of 1.5 US gal/ac. Paraffinic and naphthenic oils of comparable U.M.R. value (94-95%) and viscosity (74-75 SUS at 100[ddot]F) provide good disease control within the deposit range 1.4-2.1 US gal/ac. At these deposit levels the naphthenic oil causes only 20 and 50% respectively as much phytotoxic flecking as the paraffinic oil. Photosynthesis is inhibited by the application of petroleum oil to banana leaves.

It is the opinion of the writer that a long-term trial (a minimum of two years) should be conducted to evaluate the effect of a comparable naphthenic and paraffinic oil on Sigatoka disease control and banana yield.  相似文献

The longevity of buried Rottboellia cochinchinensis (Lour.) W.D. Clayton seed represents a major survival mechanism for the weed, enabling the persistence of a continuing source of weed seeds in crop land. The pattern of seed persistence and depletion of R. cochinchinensis in cultivated maize soils was investigated by means of (1) studies on the effect of depth and duration of burial on the viability of the weed seeds, (2) quantitative estimation of the seed population and viability in cultivated fields, and (3) the periodicity of emergence and effects of cultivation on seed germination both in the field and in the greenhouse. The results indicated that the mode of persistence was innate (8.5%) and enforced (35%) dormancy after 1 year of burial, and that the persistency component of the seed population on cultivated soils ranged from 40.60%. The weed was able to remain viable at depths of 45 cm, indicating an excellent mechanism of escaping the effects of most soil-applied herbicides, and it was shown that tillage increases the depletion rate of the weed seed reserve by 32% per year.  相似文献

Coconut palm ( Cocos nucifera ), oil palm ( Elaeis guineensis ), Bermudagrass ( Cynodon dactylon ) and Madagascar periwinkle ( Catharanthus roseus ) with symptoms indicative of phytoplasma disease were collected from different locations in Malaysia. PCR assays employing phytoplasma universal rRNA gene primers P1/P7 alone or P1/P7 followed by R16F2n/R16R2 detected phytoplasmas in eight out of 20 Malayan Red Dwarf (MRD), nine out of 12 Malayan Yellow Dwarf (MYD) and 12 out of 12 Malayan Tall (MT) coconut palms displaying coconut yellow decline symptoms. Positive detections were also obtained from six out of six oil palm seedlings showing symptoms of yellowing and necrosis, from 10 out of 10 Bermudagrass samples with white leaf symptoms, and from eight out of eight periwinkle plants showing phyllody, virescence, little leaf, proliferation and foliar yellowing. Phytoplasmas were not detected in any of the symptomless plants tested. Sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of PCR products determined that phytoplasmas infecting both MRD and MT coconuts and Bermudagrass in Serdang, Selangor State, were all members of the 16SrXIV ' Candidatus Phytoplasma cynodontis' group, whereas isolates in periwinkle in Serdang were all members of the 16SrI ' Ca. Phytoplasma asteris' group. However, the phytoplasmas detected in MYD coconuts and oil palms from Banting, Selangor State, and in periwinkle from Putrajaya were collectively very similar (99%), but shared <97·5% similarity with 16S rDNA sequences of all other known phytoplasmas, indicating that they represent a novel taxonomic group. Thus, at least two phylogenetically distinct phytoplasmas are associated with the coconut yellow decline syndrome in Malaysia, both of which were also detected in other plant species.  相似文献

本文在分析中国入境旅游人数增长趋势研究现状和研究方法不足的基础上,提出入境旅游增长趋势理论模型(inbound tourism groth trend theoretical model简称ITGTM)。将入境旅游增长趋势理论模型应用于中国入境旅游人数增长趋势研究,依据1978~2006年中国入境旅游人数年统计数据,建立了以1978年为起点,正常年份里的中国入境旅游人数增长的具体数学模型。根据数学模型,结合微分学,分析入境旅游人数增长的趋势(包括增长性和波动性),对我国"89风波"、"98洪水和金融危机"、"SARS"与禽流感对我国入境旅游人数的影响进行了评估,对我国2007~2010年的入境旅游人数做出预测,并将我国入境旅游人数增长划分为1978~1984、1985以来两个发展阶段。  相似文献

A nationwide investigation was performed to detect the presence of 1014 mutation(s) in voltage gated sodium channel (kdr) gene of Culex quinquefasciatus from 14 residential areas across 13 states and a federal territory in Malaysia. Molecular genotyping of kdr mutation was performed via a modified three tubes allele-specific-polymerase chain reaction (AS-PCR) and direct sequencing of kdr gene. Based on the results of AS-PCR, homozygous susceptible (SS) genotype was found in nine out of 14 populations with 38 individuals from a total sample size of 140. Heterozygous (RS) genotype was most predominant (99 individuals) and distributed across all study sites. Homozygous resistance (RR) genotype was detected in Perak (one individual) and Selangor (two individuals). The resistance kdr allele frequencies ranged from 0.1 to 0.55, with the highest being detected in Cx. quinquefasciatus population from Selangor. This study has documented the first field-evolved instance of 1014F mutation in Malaysian mosquitoes and the findings of this study could be utilized in the implementation of strategic measures in vector control programs in Malaysia.  相似文献

哒嗪酮是一类具有良好生物活性的杂环,为进一步发现具有昆虫生长调节活性的新型化合物,依据前期研究成果,在3(2H)-哒嗪酮的5位上引入苯甲酰基脲活性基团,设计合成了17个5-取代苯甲酰基脲-3(2H)-哒嗪酮衍生物,并通过两种方法制备得到了目标化合物,结构均通过1H NMR、IR和元素分析确证。初步生物活性研究结果表明,部分化合物如 6a、BPU-4 在200 mg/L时对3龄蝗蝻Locusta migratoria manilensis Linne(Meyen)有较好的生物活性,使蝗蝻因不能正常蜕皮变态而死亡,表现出明显的昆虫生长调节剂(IGRs)类化合物的作用特征。  相似文献

抗性日本看麦娘种群与敏感种群种子在低温(4℃)清水浸泡处理超过6 d后萌发率均能达90%以上,但抗性种群休眠解除的时间要长于敏感种群;敏感种群在播种后的前15 d内生长速率快于抗性种群,但此后抗性种群生长速率逐渐超过敏感种群;抗性种群在播种后20 d开始长出第2片叶,比敏感种群晚2 d,播种后25 d两种群出现第2片叶的比例均超过95%,进一步说明在生长后期抗性种群生长速率超过敏感种群;在相同的播种密度下,抗性种群长势优于敏感种群,150~200株/0.11m2的密度范围内有利于日本看麦娘的生长,抗性种群的最佳生长密度为208株/0.11m2,而敏感种群为186株/0.11m2。  相似文献

经研究,白蜡吉丁肿腿蜂Sclerodermus pupariae Yang et Yao与哈氏肿腿蜂Sclerodermus harmandi (Buysson)均可寄生锈色粒肩天牛Apriona swainsoni(Hope)的低龄幼虫,可用于该害虫的生物防治。为了探讨其学习行为,采用Y-型嗅觉仪、培养皿两种方法,测定了锈色粒肩天牛虫粪及其寄主植物——国槐韧皮部的气味刺激对交配后的白蜡吉丁肿腿蜂和哈氏肿腿蜂的雌蜂嗅觉记忆的影响。结果表明,这两种肿腿蜂在羽化后经过对上述两种气味源48h接触后,有学习经历的雌蜂对两种气味源的选择性比没有学习经历的雌蜂对气味源的选择性相比显著提高。在对气味源的搜寻判断上,有学习经历的雌蜂所用时间显著少于没有学习经历的雌蜂。培养皿试验表明,有学习经历的雌蜂对锈色粒肩天牛虫粪及国槐树枝韧皮部水提物或正丁烷提取物的趋向率要高于没有学习经历的雌蜂,但二者差异不显著。两种寄生蜂的嗅觉记忆具有一定的稳定性和持久性,当其脱离学习环境一定时间后,对气味源仍有较强的趋向性。  相似文献

The chloronicotinyl, imidacloprid, and the thianicotinyl, thiamethoxam, are effective insecticides against white grubs when applied as preventative treatments during or immediately after egg laying. Their efficacy sharply declines when the grubs reach late-instar stage. As both imidacloprid and thiamethoxam act on post-synaptic nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and modify insect behavior, we hypothesized that the two compounds will interfere with overwintering behavior of scarabs, thus reducing their ecological fitness and exposing them to increased winter mortality. We tested this hypothesis by applying the two compounds curatively against late second-instar and early third-instar Popillia japonica and Cyclocephala borealis grubs in turfgrass. Imidacloprid provided control of P japonica equivalent to the most widely used curative organophosphate, trichlorfon, by 14 days after treatment, but thiamethoxam had no affect. In contrast, both imidacloprid and thiamethoxam caused significant reductions in C borealis populations. Both insecticides altered the overwintering behavior of P japonica by significantly reducing the normal downward movement of grubs in October. Halofenozide, an ecdysone agonist, also caused rapid mortality of the late second-instar C borealis equivalent to trichlorfon, but had no affect on P japonica. In another experiment on a site naturally infested with entomopathogenic nematodes, the exclusive treatment of third-instar P japonica with imidacloprid resulted in no significant mortality in the autumn (up to 15 days after treatment), but caused a significant reduction in the survival of overwintered grubs. There was an increase in the numbers of grubs infected with nematodes in the imidacloprid and trichlorfon treatments compared with control, but these differences were significant only for trichlorfon. These results indicate that imidacloprid can effectively control late second-instars of both P japonca and C borealis and can significantly reduce survival of overwintered third-instar P japonica by altering their normal overwintering behavior.  相似文献

为明确玉米和甘蔗间作对亚洲玉米螟产卵行为的影响,在尼龙网室研究了亚洲玉米螟在玉米和甘蔗不同种植模式下的产卵时间、产卵部位及产卵量的差异。结果表明,不同种植模式下亚洲玉米螟均于23∶00开始产卵,02∶00~03∶00达产卵高峰。单作甘蔗、单作玉米和间作甘蔗叶背的玉米螟卵块和卵粒数均高于叶面,而间作玉米叶背与叶面的玉米螟卵块数无显著差异,叶背的卵粒数高于叶面。单作玉米叶脉的玉米螟卵块和卵粒数均显著高于叶缘;间作玉米和单作甘蔗叶脉与叶缘卵块数间无差异,但叶脉处卵粒数高于叶缘,间作甘蔗叶脉的卵块数高于叶缘,叶缘卵粒数高于叶脉。单作甘蔗叶背的亚洲玉米螟卵块主要分布在距叶鞘69.14 cm处,而叶面的卵块主要分布在距叶鞘21.09 cm处;间作甘蔗叶背和叶面卵块分布于距叶鞘35.17 cm和12.34 cm处,二者差异显著。单作玉米上亚洲玉米螟卵块仅分布于叶背沿叶脉远离叶鞘处,而间作玉米叶背和叶面卵块分布于近叶鞘。表明玉米和甘蔗间作对亚洲玉米螟雌蛾产卵选择性具有明显的影响。  相似文献
