Deficit irrigation (DI) is a water-saving irrigation strategy in which irrigation water is applied at amounts less than full crop-water requirements. Some researchers have suggested that greater increases in water use efficiency (WUE) could be realized if DI was used in combination with water conservation or rainwater harvesting techniques. The objective of this six-year field study was to determine the effect of DI in combination with straw mulch (SM) or plastic film-mulched ridge and straw-mulched furrows (RF) on grain yield and WUE in a winter wheat-summer maize rotation. Interactive effects between the water-saving management practices and N fertilizer rate were also investigated. Results indicated that maize yields in the RF + DI and SM + DI treatments were as much as 1.6 times those in the DI and conventional furrow irrigation (CFI) treatments. Over the six-year study, total maize yield in the RF + DI treatment was 5580 kg/ha more than in the CFI treatment and 6500 kg/ha more than in the DI treatment. Wheat yields in the RF + DI and SM + DI treatments were similar to the CFI treatment but slightly more than in the DI treatment. At harvest, there was no significant difference in water storage in the 0-200 cm soil profile among the RF + DI, SM + DI, DI, and CFI treatments. Nitrogen fertilizer application significantly increased maize and wheat yield compared to the unfertilized treatment; however, there was no further yield response when the N application rate exceeded 120 kg N/ha. In summary, these results indicated that DI in combination with SM or RF practices increased crop yield and WUE in the winter wheat-summer maize crop rotation. Compared to CFI practices, the SM + DI and RF + DI practices reduced the amount of irrigation water applied over a six-year period by about 350 mm.  相似文献

The milk yields obtained from 845 herd-years within the ICI Recorded Farms Scheme have been correlated, by multiple regression analysis, with the N fertilizer supplied to the grassland, the quantities of concentrates fed and the stocking rates. The large quantity of data gave highly significant correlations which indicated that, over the whole period, the supply of an extra 1 kg N from fertilizer was associated with an average extra yield of 9·9 1 milk. 4·9 1 were associated with the extra N independently of any simultaneous changes in either stocking rate or concentrate feeding, and 4-5 1 were ascribable to a simultaneous increase in stocking rate. There was a substantial variation in the ‘milk yield per kg N’ response from year to year, but the average value over 6 years agreed closely with that observed in the period 1949–52.  相似文献

石灰性土壤缺铁是限制大豆产量的主要限制因子。为探明铁胁迫下不同铁效率大豆品种产量及相关性状对Fe-EDDHA肥(乙二胺邻二羟基乙酸铁)的响应,本研究于2014-2015年在吉林省洮南市的石灰性缺铁土壤条件下,以不同铁效率6个品种为试材,设置5个施Fe-EDDHA肥水平(0、3、6、9、12和15 kg·hm-2),研究了Fe-EDDHA不同铁效率大豆品种叶片SPAD、农艺性状及产量的影响。结果表明,石灰性土壤上,不同铁效率品种产量及相关性状对Fe-EDDHA肥响应存在显著差异。为保障大豆品种正常产量,铁高效品种至铁敏感品种对铁肥需求逐渐增大,铁高效、铁中效、铁敏感品种分别需施Fe-EDDHA肥 0~3 kg·hm-2、3~6 kg·hm-2和6~9 kg·hm-2,施铁量继续增加对不同铁效率品种产量影响不显著。铁高效和铁低效品种主要在生殖后期响应铁肥,而铁中效品种对铁肥的响应主要是反映营养生长期叶绿素含量的变化。不同类型品种对铁肥响应存在年份效应,2015年需要施入更多铁肥以达到正常产量。以上说明,石灰性土壤缺铁区域应用铁高效品种是缺铁矫正最经济有效的措施,缺铁严重区域或缺铁严重年份,可以补施少量Fe-EDDHA肥保障产量。  相似文献

A field experiment was conducted in 2006 and 2007 to determine the agronomic performance and nutritive value of Sorghum almum for introduction in the derived savannah area of Nigeria. The experiment was arranged in a 2 × 4 factorial design with 2 plant spacings (0·5 × 0·5 m and 1·0 × 1·0 m) and 4 nitrogen (N) fertilizer levels (0, 60, 120 and 180 kg N ha?1). Plant height, tiller number, leaf proportion, biomass yield and nutritive value of the herbage were evaluated as part of the search for alternatives (especially drought tolerant) to local forages for dry season feeding of ruminants. Herbage yield data were tested for linear, quadratic and cubic trends to identify the optimal fertilizer levels for both spacings. Spacing × N interactions (P < 0·05) were observed for plant height and tiller number in both years. Agronomic performance was marginally better in 2007 compared with 2006. The maximum dry‐matter (DM) yield of 3500 and 3740 kg ha?1 for the more dense row spacing (0·5 × 0·5 m) was achieved at N fertilizer levels of 144 and 149 kg N ha?1 for 2006 and 2007 respectively. For the less dense (1·0 × 1·0 m) row spacing, the maximum DM yield of 3020 and 3240 kg ha?1 was achieved at 51 and 97 kg N ha?1 for 2006 and 2007 respectively. The crude protein content of the grass ranged from 61 to 89 g kg?1 DM, while the neutral detergent fibre (NDF) content ranged from 700 to 734 g kg?1 DM. The ability of S. almum to persist into the second year in this region is seen as a promising index as persistence is one of the characteristics of a good forage plant. Considering the exorbitant price of N fertilizer, less dense row spacing with N fertilizer rate in the range of 50–100 kg N ha?1 is hereby recommended for this region.  相似文献

Handle is an important factor when designing the end-uses of fabric as it is also a critical factor for purchasing decision. In the present study, the Kawabata Evaluation System for Fabrics (KES-F) was used for measuring the fabric handle of BTCA-TiO2 treated cotton fabric with or without plasma pre-treatment. The results revealed that the BTCA-TiO2 treated cotton fabrics without plasma pre-treatment had a negative effect on tensile, shearing, compressional, and surface properties while the bending properties were improved. On the other hand, the plasma pre-treatment improved the tensile and compressional properties, but not the bending, shearing, and surface properties.  相似文献

Rice is the main crop produced in the Senegal River Valley under the semiarid Sahelian climate where water resource management is critical for the resource use sustainability. However, very limited data exit on rice water use and irrigation water requirement in this water scarcity environment under climate change conditions. Understanding crop water requirements is essential for better irrigation practices, scheduling and efficient use of water. The objectives of this study were to estimate crop water use and irrigation water requirement of rice in the Senegal River Valley at Fanaye. Field experiments were conducted during the 2013 hot and dry season and wet season, and 2014 hot and dry season and wet seasons. Three nitrogen fertilizer treatments were applied to rice variety Sahel 108: 60, 120, and 180 kg N ha?1. Rice water use was estimated by the two-step approach. Results indicated that crop actual evapotranspiration (ETa) varied from 632 to 929 mm with the highest ETa obtained during the hot and dry seasons. Irrigation water requirement varied from 863 to 1198 mm per season. Rice grain yield was function of the growing season and varied from 4.1 to 10.7 tons ha?1 and increased with nitrogen fertilizer rate. Rice water use efficiency relative to ETa and irrigation requirements increased with nitrogen fertilizer rate while rice nitrogen use efficiency decreased with the nitrogen fertilizer rates. The results of this study can be used as a guideline for rice water use and irrigation water requirement for the irrigation design projects, consultants, universities, producers, and other operators within rice value chain in the Senegal River Valley.  相似文献

The area grown with processing potato crops in the Argentinian Pampas has been increasing steadily since 1995. The aim of this work was to assess the effects of N, P and S upon yield and tuber quality and their impact on CO2 emissions assessed with the Cool Farm Tool-Potato. During the spring-summer growing seasons 2008/2009 and 2009/2010, ten fertilization experiments to individually assess N, P and S effects were carried out in the southeast region of the Argentinian Pampas. Nitrogen (four N rates), phosphorus (four P rates) and sulfur (three S rates) were applied at planting and tuber initiation; at combined rates of 0, 50, 100 and 150 kg N ha?1, and at rates of 0, 25, 50 and 100 kg P ha?1 and 0, 10 and 20 kg S ha?1. N and P had a positive effect on total tuber yield, but tuber dry matter concentration (DMC) decreased at higher N rates. The fraction of marketable tubers suitable for processing into French fries increased with the addition of N, showed no variations with P fertilization, and decreased when S was applied. French fry colour, length/width (L:W) ratio and tuber defects were not affected by N, P and S fertilization. With regard to CO2 emissions assessed with the Cool Farm Tool-Potato, results showed that the higher the N rates the higher the CO2 emissions, but they decreased at higher yields. P and S rates did not have an impact on the CO2 emissions, which also decreased at higher yields. Under the production system of the Pampas, N should be split between planting and tuber initiation, and intermediate P rates should be applied all at planting, in order to improve crop yield and quality and to reduce CO2 emissions.  相似文献

The effects of sward age and fertilizer‐nitrogen (N) application rate on reproductive tillers and their involvement in the dynamics of swards of perennial grasses were investigated using sown swards of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea). Treatments included plots representing two sward ages (two and six‐year‐old swards) and two fertilizer‐N rates (150 and 350 kg N ha?1 yr?1) on the same experimental field. In each of 2 years all plots were cut at the silage stage and three times afterwards. After each cut, during two growing seasons, the vegetative tillers and stubs of cut reproductive tillers were counted in ten permanent quadrats for each of the four treatments, using a grid of 150 cells, each of 2 cm × 2 cm. The results showed a higher density, and a greater proportion of reproductive tillers, on the higher fertilizer‐N rate treatment and on the older swards. The density of vegetative tillers was found to be greater in close proximity to the reproductive tillers in all sward treatments and in both assessment years. Thus, cutting the reproductive tillers did not result in thinning of the swards. It is suggested that a mother‐tiller effect, enhancing renewal of tillers, was likely, although zones bearing reproductive tillers during the second spring were sometimes already denser than zones in the rest of the quadrats before the winter.  相似文献

The contents of total phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and phenolic acids were determined in selected garlic cultivars grown at four locations. The total phenolic content varied from 3.4 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/g of dry matter (dm) to 10.8 mg GAE/g of dm with a mean value of 6.5 mg GAE/g of dm. The myricetin, quercetin, kaempferol, and apigenin flavonoids were not detected in any of the samples. Caffeic acid and ferulic acid were the major phenolic acids found with mean values of 2.9 mg/kg of dm and 2.6 mg/kg of dm, respectively. The mean contents of vanillic, p-hydroxybenzoic, and p-coumaric acids were comparable (0.4–0.8 mg/kg of dm), and the level of sinapic acid was negligible (< 0.1 mg/kg of dm). There was a significant effect of location but an insignificant effect of genotype on contents of caffeic, vanillic, p-hydroxybenzoic, and p-coumaric acids. However, genotype but not location affected the contents of total phenolics and ferulic acid. On average, the white garlic cultivars and Chinese garlic cultivars contained higher contents of total phenolics and ferulic acid than the purple garlic cultivars. However, the differences in the total phenolic content between the purple and white garlic cultivars were not significant.  相似文献

Late blight, caused by Phytophthora infestans, is a devastating disease on potato worldwide and new lineages of the pathogen continue to develop in the U.S. Breeding for resistance is important for economic and environmental purposes. The Solanaceae Coordinated Agricultural Project (SolCAP) focuses on linking allelic variation in genes to valuable traits in elite cultivated potato germplasm. This research assessed the SolCAP diversity panel (206 clones in Washington and 213 clones in Wisconsin) for tuber resistance to the US-24 clonal lineage of P. infestans after potatoes were harvested from fields in Washington and Wisconsin in 2011. This is the first time this germplasm has been evaluated for tuber resistance to P. infestans using a non-intrusive zoospore inoculation technique. Clones with a percent incidence of 30% or less were considered resistant and only eight clones (Palisade Russet, AWN86514–2, MSL268-D, MSM171-A, MSM182–1, MSN230-1RY, Patagonia and Yukon Gem) were characterized as resistant at both locations. These clones have previously demonstrated high to moderate partial foliar resistance to isolates of P.infestans and therefore represent germplasm with both foliar and tuber resistance. Nine clones (AWN86514–2, F66041, MN 18747, MSM 182–1, MSN230-1RY, Modoc, Ama-Rosa, Patagonia and Purple Majesty), were characterized as slow-rotting at both locations with a mean percent internal rot of 75% or less after 33 days of storage. Two clones, MN 18747 and Modoc, are considered to have the highest risk of being a carrier for P. infestans of all the clones evaluated in the SolCAP collection. Not a single clone demonstrated complete tuber resistance to the US-24 strain at both locations.  相似文献

Quinoa protein concentrate (QPC) was extracted and digested under in vitro gastrointestinal conditions. The protein content of QPC was in the range between 52.40 and 65.01% depending on the assay used. Quinoa proteins were almost completely hydrolyzed by pepsin at pH of 1.2, 2.0, and 3.2. At high pH, only partial hydrolysis was observed. During the duodenal phase, no intact proteins were visible, indicating their susceptibility to the in vitro simulated digestive conditions. Zebrafish larvae model was used to evaluate the in vivo ability of gastrointestinal digests to inhibit lipid peroxidation. Gastric digestion at pH 1.2 showed the highest lipid peroxidation inhibition percentage (75.15%). The lipid peroxidation activity increased after the duodenal phase. The digest obtained at the end of the digestive process showed an inhibition percentage of 82.10%, comparable to that showed when using BHT as positive control (87.13%).  相似文献

Potato virus Y (PVY) is a major cause of yield and quality loss in potato crops worldwide. Recently, populations of PVY strains have shifted dramatically toward recombinant strains such as PVYNTN and PVYN:O. A 2010 to 2016 survey of PVY strains in commercial fields of New Brunswick (NB), Canada, and five field trials tracking PVY spread in NB and Manitoba, were conducted to study the current status of PVY strains and their relative rates of spread. In NB, PVYO dropped from 82% of infections in 2010 to 14% in 2016, replaced mostly by PVYNTN (64%) and PVYN:O (22%).In field trials with Russet Burbank and Gold rush varieties, PVYNTN spread most effectively compared to PVYN:O and PVYO. Strain-specific PVY spread varied with the potato variety, possibly due to selective PVYO resistance in Goldrush, mostly expressed at the plant-to-plant transmission level with little difference in transduction to tubers in infected plants. Relevance of in-field differences in spread of strains to changes in regional PVY populations, and potential mechanisms responsible, are discussed.  相似文献

Njavara is an important medicinal rice variety of Kerala, India, widely used in Ayurveda as a ‘health food’ and in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, paralysis, neurodegenerative diseases and in rejuvenation therapy. Phytochemical investigations and spectroscopic studies of the diethyl ether fraction of methanolic extract of Njavara Black (NB) rice bran gave three important compounds namely, tricin and two rare flavonolignans- tricin 4′-O-(erythro-β-guaiacylglyceryl) ether and tricin 4′-O-(threo-β-guaiacylglyceryl) ether. The EC50 values of these compounds in DPPH system were 90.39, 352.04 and 208.1 μg/ml, respectively. Quantification of the compounds by HPLC in NB and staple, non-medicinal rice varieties Sujatha (SJ) and Palakkadan Matta (PM) showed that tricin is present 39.64 and 16.12 fold higher in NB, compared to SJ and PM, respectively. This is the first report on the occurrence of tricin at significantly higher levels in Njavara and occurrence of the two flavonolignans in Oryza sativa species. Of the three compounds, tricin and the threo- form of flavonolignan showed anti-inflammatory effect of >65% after 5 h, at 2 mg/kg, in carrageenan-induced, paw edema experiments in rats. The results of the study corroborate with the preferential use of Njavara in indigenous medicine, over staple varieties.  相似文献

The Colorado potato beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say, is a serious pest of potato, Solanum tuberosum L., worldwide. Leptinotarsa decemlineata has a history of repeated adaptation to insecticides, and exhibits a geographic pattern of decreasing insecticide resistance from east to west in the USA. Imidacloprid is one of the most widely used insecticide in western states. In this study, we measured imidacloprid resistance among larval and adult L. decemlineata from ten locations in the Columbia Basin (southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon) using topical LD50 bioassays, and compared them to estimates from ten locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Larval and adult imidacloprid LD50’s and mean percent mortality were generally lowest in Washington and Oregon, but some sites exhibited reductions in mortality comparable to those observed at some Wisconsin sites. Adult LD50’s suggest L. decemlineata in the Columbia Basin may be evolving in response to selection by neonicotinoid insecticides, but larval data suggest high susceptibility to imidacloprid remains in most populations. Future work should expand resistance monitoring efforts to include more regions in the West and other insecticide modes of action.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to study the effects of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) deficiencies and their interaction on spike N, P and biomass around flowering in barley (Hordeum vulgare spp. distichum L.) and its relationship with grain number and grain yield. Two experiments were carried out with microcrops grown in 200 l containers using malting barley (cv. Quilmes Palomar). Treatments were a factorial combination of two levels of N and two or three levels of P fertilization. Dry matter partitioning to spikes was not or only slightly affected by nutrient deficiencies. Then, the effects on spike biomass were similar to those on total aboveground dry matter. Although partitioning of N to the spike in N fertilized treatments was lower than in N stressed ones, spike N content was higher in the N fertilized.

Number of grains was positively associated with spike N and P content as well as spike dry matter at heading in both experiments. Number of grains per unit of spike dry matter at heading in N fertilized microcrops tended to be higher than in N stressed ones, though this effect was not associated with N fertilization effects on N concentration in spikes.

Combining these results with others from the literature from wheat crops, we found a strong relationship between number of grains and spike N content at flowering, but this relationship does not seem to be better than that with spike biomass, judged by the regression coefficients. This indicates that the early application of N may induce a higher number of grains than that predicted by increased spike dry weight at flowering, but this additional effect is not universally related to differences in spike N concentration.  相似文献
