Spermatophore development times were studied in three species of penaeid shrimp, Penueus setifcrus, P. vannumei , and P. stylirosrris . In the terminal ampoule, the progression of spermatophore formation occurred in 4 stages (I-IV). The duration of each stage varied with species and ablation state. In unablated males, with spermatophores manually or electrically removed, structnrally complete spermatophores containing high numbers of morphologically normal sperm were formed in 2–4 days for P. vannamei , 4–6 days for P. stylirostris and 5–7 days for P. setiferus . Unilateral eyestalk ablation of P. setiferus accelerated spermatophore production time by approximately 2 days, and significantly increased spermatophore weight and sperm count without affecting sperm quality.
Spermatophore removal techniques had little effect on development time in P. vannamei . However, in P. setiferus , new spermatophores were produced faster in males mating naturally than in those males whose spermatophores were removed electrically.  相似文献

The calorigenic effect of feeding (apparent heat increment, AHI) and post-prandial nitrogen excretion (PPNE) were measured in postlarval (PL 25–30) Penaeus setiferus, P. schmitti, P. duorarum and P. notialis fed a fixed ration of 3 mg/animal using purified diets with 40, 50, 60, or 65% protein. Both AHI and PPNE increased with increasing dietary protein. The contribution of PPNE to AHI varied from 6.1 to 94%, with lesser values for P. setiferus and greater ones for P. duorarum . Also, the AHI coefficient (percentage of ingested energy) increased with increasing dietary protein. The AHI and PPNE coefficients for the four shrimp species ranged from 0.3 to 6.5% and 0.02 to 5.04% of ingested energy, respectively. These results suggest close relationships among protein requirements, the capacity to use dietary proteins as a source of energy, and adaptation by different species to different types of food. The amount of energy used for production of ammonia is proposed as an adequate measure of the part played by dietary proteins in food cost.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of a phytogenic feed additive (Digestarom® P.E.P. MGE) on growth performance, processing yield, fillet composition, and survival of pond‐raised channel catfish. Fifteen 0.4 ha ponds were stocked with 14,820 catfish (126 g/fish) per ha. Fish in control ponds were fed a 32% crude protein commercial floating diet whereas fish in test ponds were fed the same diet supplemented with Digestarom P.E.P. MGE at 200 g/ton. In a second study, ten 0.04 ha ponds were stocked at a similar density with fish that averaged 68 g/fish. At the end of the 6‐mo study, there was no significant difference in the amount of feed fed or the amount of weight gained between the control and Digestarom P.E.P. MGE fed fish. Food conversion ratio, net yield, and survival were also similar between the two groups. Carcass, fillet, and nugget yield were similar. Fillet proximate analysis revealed that fillet fat was lower (P < 0.01) whereas fillet protein tended to be a little higher (P < 0.10) in treated fish. In conclusion, there was a significant reduction in the amount of fillet fat in Digestarom P.E.P. MGE fed fish. Improved fillet composition (higher protein and lower lipid) is of commercial importance.  相似文献

我国合浦珠母贝 Pinctada fucata 的命名较混乱,与日本的 P.fucata martensii 和澳大利亚的 P.imbricata 的分类关系存在争议。用 ITSs 序列和 AFLP 标记对这3个种的遗传关系进行了分析。结果表明这3个地理种的遗传分化很低,种内和种间的遗传距离相互重叠,AFLP 数据的聚类分析表明澳大利亚种群大部分个体单独聚合成一支,主成分分析结果相似。种问的遗传距离与分化程度与其地理距离呈正相关。分子方差结果也表明种间的差异较小,低于6%。这些结果表明这3个种实际上是同一物种。由于大西洋的 P.imbricata 与澳大利亚的不同,因此根据分类命名的优先原则,正确的种名应为 P.fucata。  相似文献

Dietary protein and energy utilization were compared in three Pangasiid species of high economical interest for fish farming in South‐East Asia. Feeding experiments were performed during 4 weeks on Pangasius bocourti, P. djambal and P. hypophthalmus fingerlings, 6.68, 7.69 and 6.41 g mean mass, respectively. A high‐protein diet containing mostly fishmeal was designed to provide proteins without energy limitation. Growth response, variation in body composition and nutrient utilization were compared for fish receiving variable amounts of diet corresponding to increasing protein supply, 0, 5, 15, 25, 35 and 45 g kg?1 day?1. The highest specific growth rate was observed for P. bocourti (6.0% day?1), followed by P. djambal (5.6) and P. hypothalamus (4.1). Pangasius djambal exhibited the highest protein deposition rate, whereas P. bocourti was characterized by a high fat deposition rate even with a low feeding rate. Lower performance was obtained with P. hypophthalmus.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The sum mer floun der, Paralichthys dentatus, and the south ern floun der, P. lethostigma, are high value flat fish spe cies and im -por tant can di dates for com mer cial aquaculture in the east ern U.S. Wild-caught adults of both spe cies have been spawned ei ther nat u rally or by hor mone-in duc tion dur ing their first year in cap tiv ity, but spawn ing suc -cess and fre quency of vo li tional spawnings im proves with size/age and ha bit u a tion (>1.5 year) to cap tiv ity. Con trolled-en vi ron ment tanks (2.5-10 m3) sup plied with re cir cu lat ing sea wa ter (32-36 ppt) are used for photo -thermal con di tion ing of broodstock to fa cil i tate en vi ron men tal con trol, ob ser va tion, han dling, and feed ing. Stocking den si ties of 1.7-4.11 kg/m3and sex ra tios of 1-2 males:1 fe male are rec om mended, but op tima have not been de ter mined. In the sum mer floun der, com mer cial hatch er ies use hor mone-in duced spawn ing of photothermally con di tioned fish to sup -ply fingerlings year round. In tra mus cu lar im plan ta tion of a slow-re lease LHRHa pel let (dose ~100 μg/kg) into fe males with max i mum fol li cle diameters >500 μm or with mean oocyte di am e ters rang ing from 258-456 μm in duces re pet i tive ovu la tion and spawn ing. Com mer cial culturists pres ently opt for strip spawn ing, us ing a “light ta ble” to es ti -mate time of ovu la tion, but hor mone-in duced vol un tary spawn ing and nat u ral spawn ing with out hor mone in duc tion could be come more prev a -lent with lon ger-term ac cli ma tion and do mes ti ca tion. In the south ern floun der, im plan ta tion of a slow-re lease LHRHa pel let (~100 μg) has also in duced re pet i tive ovu la tion and spawn ing, al low ing mul ti ple strip spawn ing or vo li tional spawn ing in fe males with max i mum fol li cle di -am e ters > 500 μm. Large num bers of vi a ble em bryos have also been pro -duced through nat u ral spawn ing with out hor mone in duc tion. Through photothermal ma nip u la tion, the nat u ral spawn ing pe riod has been ex -tended by 2-3 months, but ad di tional stud ies are needed to pro duce fingerlings year round. A fun da men tal prob lem in the con trolled re pro -duc tion of both the sum mer floun der and south ern floun der is the vari -abil ity in num ber of eggs and the fer til ity rates among fe males and among con sec u tive spawns from the same fe male. More pre dict able rates of ovu la tion, as well as of fer til iza tion and hatch ing, are needed to lower costs of seed pro duc tion. Vari able spawn ing suc cess can be at trib -uted in large part to in con sis tent male per for mance and in ad e quate spermiation. Hor mone treat ments used to in duce ovu la tion in fe males have been in ef fec tive in in duc ing spermiation in males, and al ter na tive ther a pies are needed. In fe males, egg qual ity may pre sum ably be im -proved by op ti miz ing nutri tions, en vi ron men tal con di tion ing, and hor -mone doses and re lease rates. To date, adult broodstock are ob tained from the wild, and the po ten tial for se lec tive breed ing or for pro duc ing interspecific hy brids re mains un tapped.  相似文献

Antibodies against P450scc, P450c17 and P450arom were generated using recombinant proteins. In eel testis, P450scc and P450c17 were immunolocalized as clusters in Leydig cells. In vitellogenic eel ovary, P450scc and P450c17 immunoreactive cells were localized as clusters in the outer layer of the ovarian follicle. In contrast, P450arom seemed to be immunolocalized in the innermost follicle layer.  相似文献

The dynamics of resting egg production of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis originating from a wild population in the Tanggu Saltworks (P.R. China) was investigated. In the natural environment as well as in semi-controlled rearing conditions an increased resting egg production was noticed with declining food availability. Processed resting eggs had a hatching efficiency of 3 x 10 6 rotifers per gramme irrespective of their origin. Hatching started 22 h after the initiation of incubation and was completed after 36 h. Rotifers obtained from resting eggs could be further cultured on Culture Selco® and enriched with Super Selco®. The fatty acid profile of these rotifers were not divergent from reference rotifers (originating from the Laboratory of Aquaculture and Artemia Reference Centre) demonstrating that this strain was not catabolizing essential fatty acids and could be used for enrichment purposes. Storage of resting eggs at 4°C resulted in a 50% lower hatching after 1 year but remained stable during the next 2 years. The resting eggs used for storage could easily be disinfected without affecting their hatching characteristics. These results indicate that this material could be used as inocula for mass cultures of live food for commercial hatcheries.  相似文献

A variety of natural foods have been reported to induce ovarian maturation of penaeid shrimp. In this study, conducted from 19 June to 11 September 1980, four single-food diets (clams, shrimp, squid, and worms) and one composite diet consisting of all four foods were fed to Penaeus vannamei in 3.7-m diameter indoor circular tanks. The shrimp, averaging 28 g, were stocked at a rate of 6.9 m-2 with a 1:1 male to female ratio. Unilateral eyestalk ablation was performed on half of the females in each tank. Tanks received one turnover of water volume daily and the water temperature and salinity averaged 27.0°C and 28.6 ppt, respectively. Daily photoperiod was maintained at 13 hours of light. Ovarian maturation, spawning, molting rate, and survival were monitored daily and growth and gonad size were measured at termination. The composite diet was the best overall diet, while squid was the best single-food diet, followed by shrimp, worms, and clams. No maturation of unablated females was observed with the exception of one female that developed to stage 3. Although the size of the shrimp was considered marginal for spawning, 5 mated females were observed, but only one (squid treatment) produced viable nauplii. After termination of this study, all shrimp were fed the composite diet for 41 days. During this period, ovarian maturation and spawning occurred in the previously unproductive treatment receiving only clams, and growth rate of shrimp in all previously single-food treatments increased 4 to 7 fold. The composite diet was also fed to two tanks of P. stylirostris (mean initial weight = 45.4 g) for a period of 118 days. During that time, 50 spawns were obtained with up to 3 spawns per female. A total of 4.3 × 105 P. stylirostris nauplii were produced.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Over 71% of the aquaculture production of Chile is based on salmonids, and given the recents problems in the world salmon industry, it is necessary to investigate the culture of new species as a vital priority to maintain an industry of great social and economic impact for Chile. Small-eye flounder, Paralichthys microps, and chilean flounder P. adspersus, are native, high-value flatfish present off the coasts of Perú and Chile, that are commonly exploted by artisanal fishermen. Since 1986 both species have been objects of research studies for culture based on techniques developed for Japanese flounder. This paper is a review of current knowledge of this species and to identify research needs for the near future. Natural spawning of small-eye flounder and chilean flounder broodstock in captivity is already possible, but the manipulation of spawning using photoperiod and hormonal inducement, as well as the role of broodstock nutrition in egg and larval quality, needs to be explored. Successful incubation and larval culture protocol for both species have been developed, with larval survival over 24% from certain egg batches. Nutritional characterization and requirements for chilean flounder eggs and larvae during the culture period, optimal temperature, density, light intensity and green-water culture, are all subjects of ongoing research. Efforts to improve early culture protocol continues with emphasis on causes of larval mortality, early use of dry feed, microbial ecology of culture tanks and water quality. Weaning from live to formulated diets has been investigated, demonstrating survival of 30-50%. Presently only about 1-5% of hatchery raised flounder show a pigment disorder. Research on formulated diets and the weaning process are under way to ameliorate these results. Juveniles are being grown experimental in tanks and net pens systems and their performance (growth, survival, health) in both systems is being evaluated. Chilean flounder require approximately 2.8 years to reach 1 kg. Effort is also focusing on improving juvenile growing protocol, including recirculation systems, culture environment and diet formulation. Much future research will be required to attain optimal production of the species, such as species-specific nutritional requirements, optimum stocking density, disease and health management and growing protocols with new systems (shallow raceway). At present there is enough known about chilean flounder to begin a pilot-stage that will be the key for future development of its culture.  相似文献
