Alemow (Citrus macrophylla Wester) seedlings were subjected to moderate or severe water stress by watering them at different intervals for several irrigation cycles. Transpiration rate was measured after irrigation was resumed. Severe water stress reduced transpiration but increased leaf water potential (ψleaf), while moderate water stress reduced transpiration less and did not affect ψleaf. This suggests that moderate water stress influences only stomatal conductance and not root and shoot resistance.  相似文献

In the northeast of Brazil the drought period determines the yield period of the sugar apple (Annona squamosa L.). As a result, the use of irrigation is essential to stagger production over the course of the year. The results shown here represent an analysis of water status levels in sugar apples in daylight and seasonal periods in semi-arid regions. Two plant groups were studied: one without irrigation and the other with irrigation during drought months. This study showed that younger leaves displayed greater stomatal conductance and transpiration. In drought months, even in irrigated plants, the high air moisture deficit had a strong influence on the stomatal closure, which did not translate into a reduction in transpiration. Over the same period, the leaf water potential was −1.8 and −2.9 MPa at mid-day in irrigated and non-irrigated plants, respectively, and only the irrigated plants could recover their leaf hydration level at night. With a water deficit, plants showed greater control of transpiration through stomatal closure, with a linear relationship between stomatal conductance and transpiration.  相似文献

Zucchini squash (Cucurbita pepo L.) is an economically important vegetable crop in Florida. Typically, it is intensively managed with high inputs of fertiliser and irrigation water. Our objectives were to evaluate the interaction between fertilisation rates and irrigation treatments, and to quantify nitrate leaching in a plastic mulched/drip irrigated zucchini squash production systems. Three studies were carried out. The first study evaluated different depth placement of drip and fertigation lines on plant growth and fruit yield. Treatments included SUR (both irrigation and fertigation drip lines placed on the surface); S&S (both lines buried 0.15 m deep); and SDI (irrigation line placed 0.15 m below the fertigation line on the surface). The second and third studies compared three different N-rates and different soil moisture sensor-based irrigation strategies. Nitrate-N leaching was monitored by zero tension drainage lysimeters and soil samples. N leaching increased when irrigation and N-rates increased, with values ranging from 2 to 45 kg ha−1 of N. Use of SDI increased yields by 16% compared to the S&S treatment, and reduced nitrate leaching by 93% while increasing the water use efficiency by 75% compared to a fixed 2-h irrigation event per day treatment. Application of N above the standard recommended rate of 145 kg ha−1 did not increase yield, although yields were reduced at the lowest N-rate. The use of soil moisture sensors for automatic irrigation control reduced irrigation application and minimized nitrogen leaching. In addition, combining the soil moisture controlled SDI system that had surface applied fertigation resulted in similar or higher yields, while reducing both water use and potential N leaching because of improved nutrient retention in the root zone.  相似文献

A romaine-type lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) cv. Corsica was cultivated during three successive crop seasons (late-spring, late-autumn and late-winter) in the same soil of an experimental greenhouse in S.W. Peloponnese, Greece. Seven long-term fertilization treatments were tested for their effect on plant growth and nitrate concentration in the external lettuce leaves. Treatments included: three different doses of organic fertilization (composted sheep manure) applied at the start of each crop season, three different doses of inorganic N fertilization applied via fertigation during each crop season, and a control treatment in which no fertilizer was applied. A drip irrigation system was used to water all plants. The highest nitrate levels were observed in the medium and maximum inorganic fertilization treatments (572–664 mg kg−1) in all crop seasons. They were significantly higher compared to the respective organic fertilization treatments (253–435 mg kg−1) and all other fertilization treatments (148–435 mg kg−1). Crop season affected lettuce growth more than nitrate accumulation in the lettuce leaves: lettuce biomass production was the smallest and most uniform in the late-autumn season and did not respond to the fertilization treatments tested (ranging from 409 to 439 g plant−1), while in the late-spring season biomass production was the highest and most variable (561–841 g plant−1), it correlated with nitrate concentration in the leaves and in the medium and maximum inorganic fertilizer doses it significantly exceeded production from all other fertilization treatments (827–841 g plant−1). Following the three crop seasons the residual availability of N, P and K was clearly enhanced in the soil receiving the organic compared to the inorganic fertilization. Nitrate concentration in lettuce leaves was far below the upper limits set by the European Commission in all fertilization treatments throughout the three crop seasons, a result attributed mainly to the sufficient level of light intensity and duration throughout the year in Southern Greece.  相似文献

Water scarcity in the Mediterranean basin in addition to the extension of irrigated lands is one of the main factors limiting agricultural development. The need for supplementary irrigation of the Chemlali olive cultivar (Olea europaea L.) during summer and autumn periods was investigated. Leaf water content, gas exchange parameters, fruit development and yield in rain-fed and in irrigated plants have been monitored in 12-year-old olive trees grown under environmental conditions in semi arid regions characterized by high temperatures and high light intensity. Trees were subjected to three irrigation treatments, T0, T1 and T2 corresponding respectively to 0, 33 and 66% of crop evapotranspiration (ETc) by a drip irrigation system. The water deficit during the summer (from June to August) led to the decrease of soil moisture, leaf water content and gas exchange parameters. Irrigated trees showed the same slow activity in the three summer months as the rain-fed trees. For all treatments, net CO2 assimilation, stomatal conductance and transpiration rates were markedly decreased by environmental conditions (high air temperature and high light intensity) during the summer period. At the partial active growth phase of the Chemlali olive cultivar (September–November), a significant re-increase in all parameters was observed. However, net photosynthesis and stomatal conductance of control plants (T0) were, respectively, 57 and 40% lower than those of plants conducted under milder water contribution (T1). The decrease of physiological activity in irrigated plants during hot and dry (summer time) and cold (winter) seasons was a clear evidence that water supply during such periods will be without a great benefit for photosynthetic activity, and thus growth, if applied under critical conditions inducing the rest phase of the plant. The non-statistically significant slight differences as well in photosynthetic performances activities (Pn, Gs and E rates), as in olive production between the two irrigated treatments will not cover the expenses of water loss when applying irrigation at 66% of ETc especially in arid region characterized by scant and irregular rainfall. On the light of these results, we can conclude that the irrigation of this species during the vegetative growth phase (in spring and autumn), and stopping it during the olive rest phase (in summer and winter) could be recommended at least under the experimental conditions of this study; and that the contribution of 600 mm of water per year (33% of ETc) can respond to the needs of the Chemlali olive cultivar in a semi arid region without impairing photosynthetic activity and olive production.

The effects of partial root-zone drying (PRD), as compared to deficit irrigation (DI) and full irrigation (FI), on strawberry (cv. Honeoye) berry yield, yield components and irrigation water use efficiency (WUEI) were investigated in a field lysimeter under an automatic rain-out shelter. The irrigation treatments were imposed from the beginning of flowering to the end of fruit maturity. In FI the whole root zone was irrigated every second day to field capacity viz. volumetric soil water content (θ) of 20%; while in DI and PRD 60% water of FI was irrigated to either the whole or one-half of the root system, respectively, at each irrigation event. In PRD, irrigation was shifted from one side to the other side of the plants when θ of the drying side had decreased to 8–11%. Compared to FI plants, leaf water potential was significantly lower in DI and PRD plants in 3 out of 10 measurement occasions, while stomatal conductance was similar among the three treatments. Leaf area, fresh berry yield (FY), individual berry fresh weight, berry water content, and berry dry weight (DW) were significantly lower in DI and PRD plants than those of FI plants; whereas the total number of berry per plant was similar among treatments. Compared with FI, the DI and PRD treatments saved 40% of irrigation water, and this led to a 28 and 50% increase of WUEI based on berry FY and DW, respectively, for both DI and PRD. Conclusively, under the conditions of this study PRD had no advantage compared to DI in terms of berry yield and WUEI. DI and PRD similarly decreased berry yield and yield components and thus cannot be recommended under similar conditions.  相似文献

This study investigated the effect of irrigation on the ability of near-infrared (NIR) measurements to predict maturity stage of mango. Fruits from irrigated and non-irrigated trees were sampled on six dates during the final three weeks of development and subjected to NIR and conventional laboratory analyses. Spectral assessment showed differentiation between irrigated and non-irrigated fruits on earlier dates, which was not evident later on. NIR measurements of irrigated samples correlated well to dry matter, this was not the case for non-irrigated samples (r = 0.80 compared to 0.57, respectively), while the reverse was true for acidity with r increasing from 0.55 to 0.85 between irrigated and non-irrigated. Second derivative spectra of all samples best correlated with acid content (r = 0.73). Although dry matter was previously proposed as the most suitable parameter for NIR calibration, this study suggests acidity might be an appropriate harvesting index when considering irrigation effects. Interestingly, NIR technology has been found to adequately predict acidity in other fruits, but results of this study require additional investigation.  相似文献

Calcium chloride, calcium hydroxide, potassium carbonate and the alkylpolyglycoside surfactants Glucopon 215 CSUP and Plantacare 12 UP are salts applied to leaves as foliar nutrients and fungicides. These chemicals were sprayed on apple (Malus domestica BORKH.) and broad bean (Vicia faba L.) leaves. Stomatal conductance and rates of net photosynthesis were measured continuously in the light and in the dark using a Portable Photosynthesis System CIRAS-1. All compounds with the exception of Ca(OH)2 affected stomatal conductance and net photosynthesis, albeit to different degrees. In light, Plantacare either alone (0.2 g l−1) or in combination with CaCl2·2H2O (5 g l−1) or K2CO3 (5 g l−1) caused a rapid initial increase in stomatal conductance during the first 1–3 h after spraying on the leaves, maximum conductances were observed about 6 h after application. A rather high stomatal conductance was observed during the dark period when Glucopon (0.2 g l−1) was applied either alone or in combination with Ca(OH)2. The combination CaCl2·2H2O + Glucopon did not cause this elevated stomatal conductance during the dark. CaCl2·2H2O reduced stomatal conductance in combination with both Glucopon and Plantacare. The surfactant Plantacare reduced net photosynthesis during the first light period (12 h), if applied alone or in combination with CaCl2·2H2O. Treatment of broad bean leaves with K2CO3 + Plantacare resulted in a rapid decrease in net photosynthesis during the first hour, and then the rates of net photosynthesis increased rapidly and approached to those of the water control. The effects of surfactants and salts on net photosynthesis had nearly disappeared by the beginning of the second light period. Non-specific glycosidases presumably cleaved the glycosidic bond between the alkyl and the sugar moieties during the preceding night. Our data showed that foliar applications of CaCl2·2H2O and K2CO3 together with alkyl polyglycoside surfactants can affect gas exchange. However, the effects of the chemicals at the concentrations used in our study were not very large and were transient. They practically vanished within 24 h and a detrimental effect on growth and development of crops was not likely.  相似文献

Elucidation of the effects of different quantities of nitrogen (N) and water applied through drip and furrow irrigation on fruit yield and water use efficiency (WUE) in eggplant is essential for formulating proper management practices for sustainable production. The present investigation was undertaken to evaluate the independent and interactive effects of four levels of N and different quantities of water applied through drip as well as furrow irrigation on eggplant fruit yield, agronomic efficiency of N and WUE. In the present field investigation, ridge planting with each furrow and alternate furrow irrigation were compared with drip irrigation at three levels of water: 100%, 75% and 50% of each furrow irrigation (designated as D1.0, D0.75 and D0.5). The four levels of N studied were 90, 120, 150 and 180 kg N ha−1 (designated as N90, N120, N150 and N180). The eggplant hybrid BH-1 was transplanted on August 5, 2004 at the spacing of 60 cm × 45 cm.  相似文献

Fig tree mainly spread in regions where Mediterranean climate prevails can be grown over a wide range of soils without any significant deficiency or toxicity symptoms of plant nutrients. Surveys revealed that, however, quality is highly affected by nutrition especially N, K and Ca in fig production for commercial drying. This research work was initiated based on few studies performed on fertilization of fig. The experiment was performed between 2000 and 2002 in three fig orchards of cv. Sar?lop (syn. Calimyrna) in Ayd?n-Turkey. Trees received seven types of fertilization as (i) untreated control; (ii) NPK (430 g N, 200 g P2O5 and 430 g K2O per tree); (iii) NPK + 70 g Ca; (iv) NPK + 140 g Ca; (v) NPK + 280 g Ca; (vi) NPK + 420 g Ca and (vii) N + 420 g Ca, Ca(NO3)2 used as the Ca source. Tested fertilizer applications showed significant differences in respect to yield and quality of fig. Basic NPK fertilization with additional 280 g Ca treatment increased overall quality by reducing the number of fruit with ostiole-end crack and sunscald. Results showed that applied fertilizers exerted significantly in reduction of cull ratio and could alleviate the negative impact of yearly drought conditions.  相似文献

The effect of different fertilisation (i.e. broadcast application and fertigation) and irrigation practices (tank sprinkler and drip irrigation) on yield, yield quality (nitrate content), nitrogen uptake of white cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) and the potential for N losses was assessed on sandy-loam agricultural soil. 15N-labelled fertiliser was used as a tracer. It was found that different practices significantly affected yield, nitrate content in plants, N uptake, as well as fertiliser use efficiency. The highest yield (93 t ha−1), plant N uptake (246 kg ha−1), and fertiliser use efficiency (42%) were obtained under treatment with broadcast fertilisation with farmer's practice of irrigation (tank sprinkler). The N surplus after harvest was −41 kg N ha−1, indicating the lowest potential for N losses. Treatment by fertigation and drip irrigation covering 100% of the crop's water requirements did not result in the highest yield as expected (72 t ha−1), the N surplus after harvest was about +38 kg ha−1. The lowest yield (58 t ha−1), fertiliser use efficiency (30%) and hence the highest potential for N losses (N surplus after harvest +68 kg ha−1) were found in treatment with broadcast fertilisation and drip irrigation covering 50% of the crop's water requirements.  相似文献

Most plants benefit from mycorrhizal symbiosis through improvement of water status and nutrient uptake. A factorial experiment with complete randomized blocks design was carried out in greenhouse at Tabriz University, Iran in 2005–2006. Experimental treatments were (a) irrigation interval (7, 9 and 11 days), (b) soil condition (sterile and non-sterile) and (c) arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) species (Glomus versiforme, Glomus intraradices, Glomus etunicatum) and non-mycorrhizal (NM) plants as control. Onion (Allium cepa L. cv. Azar-shahr) seeds were sown in sterile nursery and inoculated with fungi species. One nursery left uninoculated as control. Nine weeks old seedlings then were transplanted to the pots. Average pre-irrigation soil water contents reached to about 67, 61.6 and 57.5% of FC corresponding to 7, 9 and 11 days irrigation intervals, respectively. At onion bulb maturity stage (192 days after transplanting), yield, water use efficiency (WUE) and yield response factor (Ky) were determined. The results indicated that AMF colonization increased soil water depletion significantly. G. versiforme under both soil conditions (sterile and non-sterile) and G. etunicatum in sterile soil depleted soil water effectively (P < 0.05). Mycorrhizal fungi improved WUE significantly (P < 0.0001) in both soil conditions. It raised by G. versiforme about 2.4-fold (0.289 g mm−1) in comparison with the control (0.117 g mm−1). G. intraradices and G. etunicatum also had significantly higher WUE than control. Apparently water deficit in 11-day irrigation interval led to lower yield and WUE compared to 9-day interval; the later resulted highest WUE (0.254 g mm−1). Mycorrhizal plants increased seasonal ET significantly due to enhancing in plant growth; G. versiforme in both sterile and non-sterile soil and G. etunicatum in sterile soil had the highest ET. Bulb yield was influenced by irrigation period and fungi species. G. versiforme produced higher yield than other treatments (135.27 g/pot). Mycorrhizal plants in 11-day irrigation interval in spite of suffering from water stress had more bulb yield than non-mycorrhizal plants in all irrigation intervals. Yield in general was higher in 9-day treatments than other irrigating internals significantly (P < 0.05). Onion yield response factor (Ky) was decreased by AMF colonization; implying that symbiosed plants become less responsive to water deficit (longer irrigation interval) compared to the control ones.  相似文献

The response of 3-year-old grapevines (Vitis vinifera L. cultivar ‘Thompson Seedless’) to furrow and drip irrigation was quantified in terms of water status, growth, and water use efficiency (WUE). Drip irrigation was applied daily according to best estimates of vineyard evapotranspiration while furrow irrigations were applied when 50% of the plant available soilwater content had been depleted. Drip and furrow irrigated vines showed similar water status (midday leaf water potential, Ψ1) and shoot growth patterns throughout the season. Dry weight partitioning was not significantly different between treatments but root mass was somewhat larger for the furrow than drip irrigated vines. Nitrogen concentrations of the fruit and roots were significantly (P < 0.05) less for the drip irrigated vines when compared with the furrow treatment. Similar WUE (kg water kg−1 fresh fruit wt.) were obtained for both treatments indicating that furrow irrigation was as efficient as drip irrigation under the conditions of this study. The data indicate that drip irrigation may increase the potential for control of vine growth by making vines more dependent on irrigation and N fertilization than furrow irrigation.  相似文献

The experiment was carried out at the Experimental Field ‘Taoues’, southern Tunisia (34°N, 10°E) to examine the effect of irrigation schedules on water relations for young olive trees, cultivars Chétoui, Chemlali, Coratina, Picholine and Manzanille. Plants were cultivated at 7 m × 7 m spacing and drip irrigated from April to September. Irrigation amounts (IA) of 20%ETc, 50%ETc and 100%ETc were applied, where ETc is the FAO crop evapotranspiration. The effect of IA on midday leaf water potential (Ψleaf), stomatal resistance (Rs) and conductance (gs), soil (Hv) and relative leaf (RWC) water contents was studied. Results showed that a further increase in IA was not systematically followed by an increase of water potential, production and WUE values. Some controversial responses were observed following to a variety with large seasonal variations. At the beginning of the growing season, differences between treatments were not very important because soil water content was still high enough to prevent important changes in Ψleaf values. The most stressed trees showed potentials of −1.53 MPa for Picholine cv. and ranging between −2.30 MPa and −2.10 MPa for the other varieties depending on IA. The less stressed trees provided potentials of −0.97 MPa for Picholine cv. and varying between −1.63 MPa and −2.13 MPa for cultivars Coratina, Manzanille, Chétoui and Chemlali. Then, as the season progresses, and when IA was increased from 20%ETc to 50%ETc, Ψleaf values decreased significantly for cultivars Chemlali (−3.05 MPa), Coratina (−3.75 MPa), Manzanille (−3.0 MPa) and Chétoui (−3.5 MPa). At 100%ETc, Manzanille and Picholine cultivars show better water status with respective potentials of −2.7 MPa and −2.6 MPa. Stomatal resistance monitoring showed maximums at midday for all cultivars with pick value of 4.45 s/cm recorded for Chétoui cultivar irrigated at 50% ETc. The most important variations were recorded for cultivar Chemlali which seem to be the ablest to regulate stomata aperture. Close coordination between Ψleaf and gs and Ψleaf and RWC measurements was found. But, the response varied following to treatment. At low irrigation levels (20%ETc and 50%ETc), gs was found to be linearly and positively correlated to Ψleaf. It increased linearly and positively with increasing values of Ψleaf (r of 0.84 and 0.96, respectively). At 100%ETc, Ψleaf is found to be correlated to gs following to a polynomial function with an optimum gs value of 450 mmol/m2/s and Ψleaf of about −2.5 MPa.  相似文献

A 3-year study was conducted to examine leaf gas exchange response of Vitis vinifera L. (cv. Tempranillo) grapevines growing in the central Iberian Peninsula as a function of soil water availability. Net CO2 assimilation rate (A), stomatal conductance (gs) and transpiration (E) of leaves were measured at the east and west side of vines planted in north/south orientated rows. Soil water availability was varied by three different irrigation treatments at 0.45, 0.30 and 0.15 of ETo and a fourth non-irrigated treatment. Approximately 60% of the variation in gs over 3 years was due to changes in soil water content (θv); the correlation between the two was closer when examined on a season by season basis. Net CO2 assimilation rates were significantly correlated with gs. Stomatal conductance decreased by approximately 25–30% when measured 15:00 h (west side of vines) compared to 09:00 h (east side of vines); reductions in A were even greater than those in gs. Leaf E increased approximately by 15–25% from morning to afternoon. The reduction in A and gs from morning to afternoon was observed even in irrigated vines but absolute differences increased with decreasing soil water. This occurred when maximum daily gs was less than 200 mmol m−2 s−1. These responses indicate that in hot areas training systems and row orientation, which minimize exposed leaf, area in the afternoon should be recommended.  相似文献

We assessed the effect of soil-applied derivatives of melia (Melia azedarach L.) and neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) on nitrogen (N) soil availability, root uptake and peach (Prunus persica L.) growth. First we evaluated the effectiveness of experimentally prepared amendments made with fresh ground melia leaves or commercial neem cake incorporated into the soil as nitrification inhibitors, then we evaluated the effect of fresh ground melia fruits and neem cake on growth and N root uptake of potted peach trees, and on soil microbial respiration. Soil-applied fresh ground melia leaves at 10 and 20 g kg−1 of soil as well as commercial neem cake (10 g kg−1) were ineffective in decreasing the level of mineral N after soil application of urea-N as a source of mineral N, rather they increased soil concentration of nitric N and ammonium N. The incorporation into the soil of fresh ground melia fruits (at 20 and 40 g kg−1) and neem cake (at 10 and 20 g kg−1) increased N concentration in leaves of GF677 peach × almond (Prunus amygdalus) hybrid rootstock alone or grafted with one-year-old variety Rome Star peach trees. An increase in microbial respiration, leaf green color and plant biomass compared to the control trees were also observed. The Meliaceae derivatives did not affect, in the short term (7 days), N root uptake efficiency, as demonstrated by the use of stable isotope 15N, rather they promoted in the long term an increase of soil N availability, N leaf concentration and plant growth.  相似文献

Irrigation with saline water is one of the major problems in citrus crop in arid and semi-arid regions. Because rootstock and fertilization play an important role in citrus salt tolerance, we investigated the influence of the nitrogen fertilization and rootstock on salt tolerance of 2-year-old potted Fino 49 lemon trees. For that, trees grafted on Citrus macrophylla (M) or Sour orange (SO) rootstocks were watered for 12 weeks with complete nutrient solution containing either 0 mM NaCl (control, C), 50 mM NaCl (S), 50 mM NaCl with an additional 10 mM potassium nitrate (S + N), or 50 mM NaCl with a 1% KNO3 (S + Nf) foliar spray application. Trees on M were more vigorous than trees on SO and saline treatments reduced leaf growth similarly in trees on both rootstocks. Trees on SO had a lower leaf Cl and Na+ concentration than those on M. Additional soil nitrogen (S + N) decreased leaf Cl concentration and increased leaf K+ concentration in salinized trees on both rootstocks. However, the salinity-induced reduction leaf growth was similar in S + N and S trees. This was due to osmotic effect, beside leaf Cl and Na+ toxicity, played an important role in the growth response of Fino 49 lemon to the salt stress. Additional foliar nitrogen in the S + Nf treatment also reduced leaf Cl concentration relative to the S treatment but trees from S + Nf treatment had the lowest leaf growth. Net assimilation of CO2 (ACO2ACO2), stomatal conductance (gs) and plant transpiration were reduced similarly in all three salt treatments, regardless rootstock. Salinity reduced leaf water and osmotic potential such that leaf turgor was increased. Thus, the salinity-induced ACO2ACO2 reductions were not due to loss of turgor but rather due to high salt ion accumulation in leaves.  相似文献

Elevated levels of nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) in the surficial aquifer above the drinking water quality standard, i.e. maximum contaminant limit (MCL; 10 mg L−1), have been reported in some part of central Florida citrus production regions. Soils in this region are very sandy (sand content >95%), hence are vulnerable to leaching of soluble nutrients and chemicals below the rooting depth of the trees. The objective of this research was to develop N and irrigation best management practices for citrus in sandy soils to maintain optimal crop yield and quality, and to minimize potential leaching of nitrate below the root zone. Six years of field experiment was conducted in a high productive (mean fruit yield > 80 Mg ha−1yr−1) >20-year-old ‘Hamlin’ orange trees [Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck] on ‘Cleopatra mandarin’ (Citrus reticulata Blanco) rootstock grown on a well drained Tavares fine sand (hyperthermic, uncoated, Typic Quartzipsamments) in Highland county, FL. Nitrogen rates ranged from 112 to 280 kg ha−1 yr−1 applied as fertigation (FRT), water soluble granular (WSG), 50:50 mix of FRT and WSG, and controlled-release fertilizer (CRF). Tensiometers were used to monitor the soil water content as a basis to schedule optimal irrigation. Fruit yield response over the entire range of N rates was greater for the FRT and WSG sources as compared to that for the WSG + FRT or CRF sources. Using the regression analysis of the fruit yield in relation to N rate, the optimum N rate appeared to be at 260 kg ha−1 yr−1. Based on fruit production response in this study, the N requirement for production of 1 Mg of fruit varied from 2.2 to 2.6 kg across four N sources. This study demonstrated an increased N uptake efficiency, as a result of best management of N and irrigation applications. The optimal N and K concentration in the 4–6-month-old spring flush leaves were 26–30, and 15–18 g kg−1, respectively. However, fruit yield response showed no significant relationship with concentrations of P in the 4–6-month-old spring flush leaves over a range of 0.8–2.4 g kg−1. The results of fate and transport of N in soil and in soil solution with application of different rates and sources of N, and components of citrus tree N budget, are reported in a companion paper.  相似文献

Summary

Non-bearing, potted, apple plants were subjected to root temperature of 8.6.1(LRT) or 23.6.18C (HRT) and irrigated with 100 ml of water containing 20 mg of N as NH4NO3, in which both ammonium and nitrate-N fractions were enriched in 15N (10 atom%). The root system of each plant was pressurized (325 kPa) at day 1, 2, 4, and 8 after

15 N application to evaluate the transport of nitrogen derived from fertilizer (NDFF) through the xylem. This technique was used to investigate N absorption. LRT reduced the rate of N uptake the day after 15N application relative to HRT. Two, 4 and 8.d after fertilization, the rate of exudation and consequently the uptake rate was similar for LRT and HRT. The total amount of N removed by plants after 8.d was not affected by root treatments. Carbon dioxide assimilation, transpiration rate and stomatal conductance were lower for trees subjected to LRT during the time course of the experiment. We suggest that the delay in N absorption was related mostly to the lower activity of root nitrate reductase detected at the lower root temperature, which increased the nitrate xylem sap concentration and diminished the rate of N uptake.  相似文献
