The capability of Chromolaena odorata (L) to grow in the presence of different concentrations of three heavy metals in crude oil-contaminated soil and its capability to remediate the contaminated soil was investigated using pot experiments. C. odorata plants were transplanted into contaminated soil containing 50,000 mg kg?1 crude oil and between 100 and 2,000 mg kg?1 of cadmium, nickel, and zinc and watered weekly with water containing 5% NPK fertilizer for 180 days. C. odorata did not show any growth inhibition in 50,000 mg kg?1 crude oil. Plants in experiments containing 2,000 mg kg?1 Cd showed little adverse effect compared to those in Zn-treated soil. Plants in 1,000 and 2,000 mg kg?1 Ni experiments showed more adverse effects. After 180 days, reduction in heavy metals were: 100 mg kg?1 experiments, Zn (35%), Cd (33%), and Ni (23%); 500 mg kg?1, Zn (37%), Cd (41%), and Ni (25%); 1,000 mg kg?1, Zn (65%), Cd (55%), and Ni (44%); and 2,000 mg kg?1, Zn (63%), Cd (62%), and Ni (47%). The results showed that the plants accumulated more of the Zn than Cd and Ni. Accumulation of Zn and Cd was highest in the 2,000 mg kg?1 experiments and Ni in the 500 mg kg?1 experiments. Crude oil was reduced by 82% in the experiments that did not contain heavy metals and by up to 80% in the heavy metal-treated soil. The control experiments showed a reduction of up to 47% in crude oil concentration, which was attributed to microbial action and natural attenuation. These results show that C. odorata (L) has the capability of thriving and phytoaccumulating heavy metals in contaminated soils while facilitating the removal of the contaminant crude oil. It also shows that the plant??s capability to mediate the removal of crude oil in contaminated soil is not significantly affected by the concentrations of metals in the soil.  相似文献

Field studies were conducted to assess boron (B) requirement, critical concentrations in diagnostic parts based on yield response curves and genotypic variation by growing three peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivars (‘Golden’, ‘BARD-479’, ‘BARI-2000’) on two B-deficient calcareous soils. Boron application significantly increased pod yield of all the cultivars over control. Maximum pod yield increases were: ‘Golden’, 16?23%; ‘BARD-479’, 21?27%; and ‘BARI-2000’, 25?31%. The cultivars varied in B efficiency and cv. ‘Golden’ was the most B efficient (81?86%) while cv. ‘BARI-2000’ was the least efficient (76?80%). Boron requirements for near-maximum (95%) dry pod yield were 0.65 kg ha?1 for ‘Golden’, 0.75 kg ha?1 for BARD-479 and 0.80 kg ha?1 for BARI-2000. Critical B concentrations in shoots and seeds were: ‘Golden’, 33 mg kg?1 and 26 mg kg?1; ‘BARD-479’, 38 mg kg?1 and 31 mg kg?1; and ‘BARI-2000’, 42 mg kg?1 and 33 mg kg?1.  相似文献

Plants’ tolerance to salt stress is different among species, nevertheless, mineral nutrition might also affect it. A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of Zinc (Zn) on salinity tolerance using a sigmoid response model in two wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes ‘Falat’ and ‘Bam’ with different salinity tolerances. The treatments consisted of three Zn rates (0, 5 and 10 mg Zn kg?1) and five levels of soil salinity (1.1, 6.5, 12.3, 18.7 and 25.1 dS m?1). The results showed that dry weight of straw and grain decreased, as salinity increased in both genotypes although this decrease in ‘Falat’ genotype was higher than that of ‘Bam’ genotype. Application of 10 mg kg?1 Zn increased the dry weight by 25% (straw) and 32% (grain) in ‘Falat’ but 67% (straw) and 60% (grain) in ‘Bam’ as compared with the absence of added Zn. According to the fitted function, in the absence of Zn, grain production began to decline at ECe-values of 4.7 dS m?1 in ‘Falat’ genotype, and 7.5 dS m?1 in ‘Bam’ genotype. Application of Zn led to a decrease of salinity tolerance in ‘Falat’ genotype, but an increase in ‘Bam’ genotype. The study found that Zn application under saline conditions, depending on genetic differences of wheat genotypes, would have different effects on their tolerance to salinity.  相似文献

Sunflower has been mentioned in the literature as a plant that requires large amounts of boron (B) to achieve a successful crop. This study aimed at evaluating the influence of sunflower fertilization with boron on the soil nutrient concentration, index leaf, seed yield, fatty acids’ composition of sunflower oil, and oil content. Cultivar M734 was selected for boron fertilization at 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12 kg ha?1 rates. The maximum economic return was obtained with 3.13 kg ha?1. Neither oil content nor fatty acid composition was affected by boron. With proper irrigation, the M734 cultivar was able to absorb boron in the 0 ? 40-cm layer, ultimately producing about 3000 kg ha?1 of seeds in soils with only 0.30 mg kg?1 of boron. Based on these results, it is suggested that the boron fertilization program be expanded to include the soil strata at 0?20 cm and 20?40 cm.  相似文献

The establishment of a complementary grass cover on vineyard soils can promote sustainability of the affected environment. In this work, we used an acid vineyard soil with total Cu concentration 188 mg kg?1 to study the influence of pine bark amendment on Lolium perenne growth and Cu uptake. The results indicate that the pine bark amendment did not cause a significant increase in the mass of the shoots of Lolium perenne, but favored the root biomass: 0.034 g for control and 0.061 g for soil samples amended with 48 g kg?1 of pine bark. Moreover, the pine bark amendment decreased Cu concentration in both, shoots (50 mg kg?1 for control soil and 29 mg kg?1 for soil amended with 48 g kg?1 pine bark) and roots (250 mg kg?1 for control soil and 64 mg kg?1 for soil amended with 48 g kg?1 pine bark). The main factor responsible for these results was a significant decrease of the most mobile fractions of Cu in the soil. Those fractions were extracted using ammonium acetate, ammonium chloride, sodium salt of ethylene-diamine-tetraacetic acid (EDTA-Na), and diethylene-triamine-pentaacetic acid (DTPA).  相似文献

Abstract

A pot experiment was conducted under glasshouse conditions during 2004 at the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) in Lucknow. The study presented here was aimed at evaluating the response of Mentha arvensis (cv. Kushal), an essential oil–bearing plant, to different concentrations of zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) supply with respect to their influence on biomass, oil yield, and oil quality. Suckers of Japanese mint were grown with four graded levels each of Fe and Zn (viz. 0, 5.0, 10.0, 25.0 mg Fe kg?1 and 0, 2.5, 5.0, 15.0 mg Zn kg?1) and a combination of both the elements. The results indicated that the fresh weight, oil content, and chlorophyll content increased significantly with increase in Fe supply; the optimum level was recorded as 10 mg Fe kg?1. Iron uptake increased significantly with increases in its supply. Zinc, when applied singly, showed enhancement in growth parameters, but the effects were nonsignificant. The optimal levels of supply for Zn and Fe in M. arvensis was evaluated to be 5 mg Zn kg?1 and 10 mg Fe kg?1, respectively.  相似文献

Leaf mineral content along the crop cycle may explain differences in response to fertilization among strawberry genotypes. A two year field experiment was conducted using responsive (‘Camarosa’, ‘Ventana’) and nonresponsive (‘Camino Real’, ‘Candonga’) to fertilization genotypes under proportional increases in nutrients supply: from a control dose “C” [120 kg nitrogen (N) ha?1, 70 kg phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) ha?1, 220 kg potassium oxide (K2O) ha?1, 40 kg calcium oxide (CaO) ha?1 and 20 kg magnesium oxide (MgO) ha?1] to “1.33C” and “1.66C” in 2007 and to “1.5C” and “2C” in 2008. Response to fertilization was high (45–120%) at begining of harvesting and low (10-28%) at middle and end of harvesting. Correlation between leaf area and total yields was high (r ≈ 0.73) at begining of harvesting, except on ‘Camino Real’ (late and compact genotype). At begining of flowering and harvesting, responsive genotypes showed higher potassium (K) and lower calcium (Ca) leaf contents than nonresponsive genotypes, accentuated with the fertilization increase.  相似文献

Available iron, zinc, copper and manganese were determined in six pedons located in upper slope, middle slope and valley bottom soils derived from Abeokuta geological materials in Nigeria. The soils had an average of 639.8 g kg?1 sand, 241.8 g kg?1 clay and 118.4 g kg?1 silt. The fertility status of the soils was low–medium with a strongly acid–neutral reaction, 1.3–15.1 g kg?1 organic carbon contents, moderate–high exchangeable bases and 1.38 mg kg?1 available phosphorus. Both Fe (122.50 mg kg?1) and Mn (111.40 mg kg?1) occurred at toxic levels, whereas the mean Cu (1.27 mg kg?1) and Zn (2.56 mg kg?1) contents were found to be adequate for most crops grown in the region. There were significant positive correlations among the micronutrients and also between soil pH, organic carbon, particle size fractions and micronutrients. The high levels of Fe and Mn were probably due to the presence of oolitic ironstone in the parent material.  相似文献

Molybdenum (Mo) is an essential micronutrient for crop plants, and its deficiency has been reported in many parts of the world. Two greenhouse experiments were conducted with the objective to determine Mo requirements of dry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) grown on a Brazilian Oxisol with and without liming. The Mo treatments were 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mg kg?1. In one experiment dolomitic lime was added at the rate of 2.5 g per kg of soil before the application of Mo treatments and incubated 5 weeks before sowing. In other experiments, Mo treatments were same as the lime-added experiment but no lime was added. Most of the growth, yield, and yield components were significantly increased with the addition of Mo in both the experiment. Growth, yield, and yield components were increased in a quadratic fashion when Mo was applied in the range of 0 to 20 mg kg?1. Maximum shoot dry weight was obtained with the addition of 17 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment with Mo rates without lime and 9.69 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment of Mo rates with lime application. Maximum seed yield was obtained with the application of 10.48 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment that did not receive lime along with Mo treatments and 10.28 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment that received lime along with Mo treatments. Similarly, the maximum number of pods per plant was obtained with the addition of 9.33 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment that did not receive lime and 8.83 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment that did receive lime. Maximum root length was obtained with the addition of 12.38 Mo kg?1 in the experiment that did not receive lime and 9.75 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment that received lime. Maximum root dry weight was obtained with the addition of 11.67 mg Mo kg?1 in the experiment that did not receive lime and 9.28 mg Mo in the experiment that received lime. Soil properties determined after harvest of dry bean plants were not influenced significantly with the addition of Mo in the Oxisol under investigation.  相似文献

Hydroponic and pot experiments were conducted to assess the uptake of heavy metals (Cd and Zn) by a common crop plant, African basil, Ocimum gratissimum. In addition, the effects of soil amendments, hydroxyapatite (HA) and cow manure on plant growth and metal accumulations were compared. In the hydroponic study, plants were exposed to various concentrations of Cd (2.5 and 5 mg L?1) and Zn (10 and 20 mg L?1) for 15 days. O. gratissimum was shown to be a Cd accumulator more than a Zn accumulator. Cadmium concentration in its shoots exceeded 100 mg kg?1. In the pot experiments, soils from a heavily Cd-contaminated site (Cd 67.9 mg kg?1 and Zn 2,886.8 mg kg?1) were treated with cow manure and HA at the rates of 10% and 20% (w/w), and 0.75 and 1.5% (w/w), respectively. Plants were grown in the greenhouse for 3 months. The addition of cow manure resulted in the highest biomass production and the lowest accumulations of Cd in plant parts, while HA was more efficient than cow manure in reducing Zn uptake. Leaves of African basil showed a decreased Cd concentration from 1.5 to 0.3 mg kg?1 (cow manure) and decreased Zn concentration from 69.3 to 34 mg kg?1 (HA). This clearly demonstrates the efficiency of HA and cow manure in reducing metal content in leaves of plants grown on high metal-contaminated soil to acceptable or close to acceptable values (0.2 mg kg?1 for Cd, 99.4 mg kg?1 for Zn).  相似文献

Mining wastes may pose risk nearby urban and agricultural areas. We investigated a lettuce crop land close to a former capped mine tailing in order to determinate the metal uptake by crops. Soil plot sampling design within the crop area and two transects along the tailing were performed. In addition, lettuces (root and leaves) were analyzed after transplant and harvest. The results showed a pH of around 7–8 for all the soil samples. Total metal concentrations were as follows: 190–510 mg kg?1 Pb, 13–21 mg kg?1 Cu, and 210–910 mg kg?1 Zn. Diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid-extractable Pb was around 18% of the total Pb in some samples. Transects along the base and on the plateau of the tailing showed high metal concentrations of Pb (up to 5,800 mg kg?1) and Zn (up to 4,500 mg kg?1), indicating that capping layer had been eroded. Lettuce leaves showed Pb concentrations within standard for human health (<0.3 mg kg?1 in fresh weight). For essential micronutrients such as Cu and Zn, leaves had optimal content (10–28 mg kg?1 Cu, 60–85 mg kg?1 Zn). A continued monitoring in metal uptake is needed in crop lands close to mining wastes in order to prevent risks in food safety. Capped tailings must be monitored and rehabilitation works performed from time to time.  相似文献

Purpose

Inorganic contaminants present a major challenge for the restoration of aquatic ecosystems. The objectives of this study were to determine the extent of trace metal contamination and investigate the influence of different plant communities on trace metal accumulation in the soils of the Florida Everglades.

Materials and methods

Soil samples (n?=?117) were collected from 0 to 10-cm depth using a stainless steel coring device from sites with three dominant plant communities—cattail, sawgrass, and slough—of Water Conservation Area-2A (43,281 ha) of Florida Everglades.

Results and discussion

The mean pH in soils collected from three plant communities was 6.75–6.82, whereas electrical conductivity was slightly greater in the sawgrass (0.69 dS m?1) than cattail (0.58 dS m?1) and slough (0.40 dS m?1). Mean reduction–oxidation potential was greatest in cattail (?113 mV) than sawgrass (?85.3 mV) and slough (?48.3 mV) soils. Among 11 trace metals (As, B, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Zn) found in soil samples, Na had the greatest contents and was greater in cattail (2070 mg kg?1) and sawgrass (1735 mg kg?1) than slough (1297 mg kg?1). Four trace metals (B, Cu, Mo, Ni) were significantly greater in cattail than sawgrass and slough. Whereas, Mn was significantly lower in cattail (31 mg kg?1) than both sawgrass (84 mg kg?1) and slough (51 mg kg?1). Cattail also had significantly lower Cr (1.97 mg kg?1) and Pb (10 mg kg?1) than sawgrass (Cr 2.5 mg kg?1; Pb 20.8 mg kg?1). As (<6.9 mg kg?1), Co (<1.3 mg kg?1), and Zn (<17.2 mg kg?1) were not significantly different among soils collected from three plant community-dominant sites. Contents of Cd and Se were below the method detection limits (Cd 0.01 mg L?1; Se 0.2 mg L?1) and are not reported.

Conclusions

None of the trace metals in the soils exceeded the US Environmental Protection Agency sediment toxicity thresholds. Results from this study provided baseline concentrations of trace metals, which can be used to measure the success of restoration efforts in Florida Everglades.

A pot experiment was conducted to study the response of wheat to concurrent stresses of salinity and nickel (Ni)-toxicity. Soil was spiked with Ni (0, 20 and 40 mg kg?1) combined with two levels of salinity (control and 10 dS m?1) using Ni(ii) nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO3)2.6H2O) and sodium chloride (NaCl), respectively, in a completely randomized design with four replicates. Plants were harvested at the tailoring stage and the results showed that wheat growth was positively affected by Ni at 20 mg kg?1, and negatively at 40 mg kg?1 concentration both in control and at 10 dS m?1. Ni (20 mg kg?1) had a nonsignificant positive effect on tissue potassium (K+) and a significant negative effect on Na+ concentration. Moreover, Ni translocation from root to shoot and accumulation decreased by increasing the levels of Ni in both control and salinity treatments. It can be concluded that Ni at 20 mg kg?1 increased wheat growth by alleviating salinity stress; however, at 40 mg kg?1 it aggravated the plant stress and decreased the plant growth.  相似文献

Quantification of soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) fractions in grasslands is vital for estimating C sequestration and climate change studies. We quantified background soil total carbon (TOC) status, recalcitrant carbon (RC), acid hydrolysable labile carbon (AHC), hot- and cold-water extractable carbon (HWC and CWC, respectively) fractions in the grassland in this study. Soil C fractions were as follows: TOC (11,633 to 15,525 mg C kg?1); RC (11,500 to 15,357 mg C kg?1); AHC (132 to 168 mg C kg?1); HWC (57 to 70 mg C kg?1); and CWC (27 to 33 mg C kg?1). Labile C fractions contributed at most 1.2% to total C. Concentrations of total N ranged from 1072 to 1230 g N kg?1. Recalcitrant C contributed higher amounts (>90%) to total C, indicating the incorporation of C into the stable C fraction. Carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes were not significantly correlated with total C.  相似文献

This study determined the potential to increase Zn density of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) through cultivar selection and nutrient management. Organic fertilizer and Hoagland and Arnon no.1 solution factored with three zinc (Zn) levels provided as zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) were the fertilizer regimes in a greenhouse experiment. Modern cultivars had a 32% higher fresh head weight than heritage cultivars, but each accumulated the same Zn concentration (65 mg kg?1 dry wt). Butterhead phenotypes had a 38% lower yield than loose-leaf and had the highest Zn concentration (78 mg kg?1 dry wt) followed by romaine (66 mg kg?1 dry wt) and loose-leaf (53 mg kg?1 dry wt). Concentration of Zn did not differ between fertility regimes, being about 66 mg kg?1 dry wt with each regime. Differences in Zn concentrations were significant among individual cultivars with ranges from 42 mg g?1 dry wt to 91 mg kg?1 dry wt. ‘Tom Thumb’, ‘Adriana’, ‘Claremont’, and ‘Focea’ were the top in cultivar ranking, with mean Zn concentration of 63 mg kg?1 dry wt. The results signify that selection of cultivars may be utilized to increase Zn accumulation in lettuce but that nutritional regimes had little effect on accumulation.  相似文献

Increased use of nitrogenous fertilizers in agriculture has led to the increased pollution of ground water and atmosphere. Certain plant products can be used as coating materials onto urea to reduce the N losses. We evaluated the effectiveness of citronella and palmarosa grass oils as nitrification inhibitors in a soil incubation study. The treatments (14) were combinations of 4 N sources (neem, citronella and palmarosa oil coated prilled ureas, and uncoated prilled urea), 2 coating thicknesses of oils (500 and 1000 mg kg?1) and 2 N levels (75 and 150 kg N ha?1), replicated thrice in a randomized block design. N levels at 75 and 150 kg ha?1 were equivalent to 34 and 68 mg N kg?1 soil, respectively. Results showed that N sources citronella (CCPU1000) and neem oil (NCPU1000) coated prilled ureas at 1000 mg kg?1 coating thickness with 75 kg ha?1 released similar amount of ammonical-N to uncoated prilled urea at 150 kg N ha?1, suggesting the beneficial effect of coated ureas. The highest nitrification inhibition (%) was recorded with NCPU1000, the reference nitrification inhibitor, which was significantly greater to all the other N sources at 7 days after incubation (DAI), and at par to CCPU1000 at 14 and 21 DAI.  相似文献

Wildfires often modify soil properties, including the N status and net N mineralization rates, but their impacts on gross N fluxes have been scarcely evaluated. We aimed to ascertain the immediate effects of a medium–high severity wildfire on soil N transformations. Net and gross N rates were analytically and numerically (FLUAZ) quantified in burned (BS) and unburned (US) topsoils from the temperate–humid region (NW Spain). Analytical and numerical solutions were significantly correlated for both gross N mineralization (m) (r 2?=?0.815; p?<?0.001) and gross nitrification (n) (r 2?=?0.950; p?<?0.001). In BS, all NH4 +-N fluxes (net m, gross m and gross NH4 +-N immobilization, ‘ia’) increased, while those of NO3 ?-N decreased (gross n and gross NO3 ?-N immobilization, ‘in’) or did not vary (net n). In US and BS, gross m (0.26–3.60 and 4.70–15.42 mg N kg?1 day?1, respectively) predominated over gross n (0.026–2.45 and 0.001–0.002 mg N kg?1 day?1, respectively), and the same was true for the net fluxes. Compared with the few available data on recently burned soils (m?=?8–55 mg N kg?1 day?1; n?=?0.50–1.83 mg N kg?1 day?1), our gross m and n rates were similar and very low, respectively; gross n showed that nitrifiers were active in US and also in BS, despite the 98 % reduction observed immediately after the fire. For gross fluxes, m increased more than ia suggesting an NH4 +-N accumulation, but there is no risk of NO3 ?-N leaching because n decreased more than in.  相似文献

Abstract

Athyrium yokoscense, a type of fern that grows vigorously in mining areas in Japan, is well known as a Cd hyperaccumulator as well as a Cu, Pb and Zn tolerant plant. However, no information is available on As accumulation of A. yokoscense, although it often grows on soils containing high levels of both heavy metals and As. In this study, young ferns collected from a mine area were grown in media containing As-spiked soils or mine soil in a greenhouse for 21 weeks. Athyrium yokosense was highly tolerant to arsenate and survived in soils containing up to 500 mg As (V) kg?1. The addition of 100 mg As (V) kg?1 resulted in the highest fern biomass (1.95 g plant?1) among As-spiked soils. Although the As concentration of the fern was lower than other As hyperaccumulators, such as Pteris vittata, A. yokoscense could hyperaccumulate As in mature and old fronds. Arsenic was accumulated most efficiently in old fronds (922 mg kg?1) in the media containing 5 mg As (III) kg?1. Moreover, higher As accumulation was found in the roots of the ferns, with a range from 506 to 2,192 mg kg?1. In addition, in the mine soil with elevated concentrations of As and heavy metals, A. yokoscense not only hyperaccumulated As (242 mg As kg?1 in old fronds), but also accumulated Cd, Pb, Cu and Zn at concentrations much higher than those reported for other terrestrial plants. Athyrium yokoscense accumulated Cd mostly in fronds in high concentrations, up to 1095 mg kg?1, while it accumulated Cu, Zn and Pb mainly in the roots and the concentrations were 375, 2040 and 1165 mg kg?1, respectively.  相似文献

To determine the effect of boron (B) deficiency on biomass, reproductive yield, metabolism, and alterations in seed reserves of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) cv. ‘13.G‐256,’ plants were grown in refined sand until maturity at deficient (0.033 mg L?1) and adequate (0.33 mg L?1) B, supplied as boric acid (H3BO3). Boron‐deficient plants exhibited visible deficiency symptoms in addition to reduced number of pods and seeds, resulting in lowered biomass and economic yield. Boron deficiency lowered the concentration of B in leaves and seeds, photosynthetic pigments (leaves), Hill reaction activity, starch (in leaves and seeds), and proteins and protein N (in seeds), whereas phenols, sugars (in leaves and seeds), and nonprotein N (in seeds) were elevated. Specific activity of peroxidase (POX) increased in leaves and pod wall and decreased in seeds, while activity of acid phosphate and ribonuclease were stimulated in leaves, seeds, and pod wall in B‐deficient chickpea.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to study the influence of different ethylenediamine tetraacetate (EDTA), nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) and oxalic acid (HOx) concentrations on tolerance and lead (Pb) accumulation capacity of carrot (Daucus carota). The results indicated that by increasing Pb, NTA and HOx concentrations in the soil, the shoot, taproot and capillary root dry matters increase effectively. In contrary, EDTA caused to reduce capillary roots biomass. EDTA was more effective than NTA and HOx in solubilizing soil Pb. The highest Pb content in shoots (342.2 ± 13.9 mg kg?1) and taproots (301 ± 15.5 mg kg?1) occurred in 10 mM EDTA, while it occurred for capillary roots (1620 ± 24.6 mg kg?1) in 5 mM HOx, when the soil Pb concentration was 800 mg kg?1. The obtained high phytoextraction and phytostabilization potentials were 1208 (±25.6) and 11.75 (±0.32) g Pb ha?1 yr?1 in 10 mmol EDTA kg?1 soil and no chelate treatments, respectively. It may be concluded that chelate application increases Pb uptake by carrots. Consequently, this plant can be introduced as a hyperaccumulator to phytoextract and phytostabilize Pb from contaminated soils.  相似文献
