Summary Gene action and heritability of groat protein percentage were determined in F1, F2, and F3 generations of nine crosses between three Avena sativa L. cultivars and three A. fatua L. selections. Relationships among groat protein percentage, grain yield, and 100-seed weight also were evaluated. The three A. sativa parents were Dal (high grain yield and intermediate groat protein percentage), Goodland (low grain yield and high groat protein percentage), and Stout (high grain yield and low groat protein percentage). The three A. fatua parents were chosen for the study on the basis of vigorous plant growth and high groat protein percentage. The study was conducted at Madison, Wisconsin in 1979 and 1980.There was partial dominance towards low groat protein percentage. Narrow sense heritability estimates for groat protein percentage were low in Dal and Goodland crosses and intermediate in Stout crosses. In the F2 generation, groat protein percentage was significantly higher in shattering than in nonshattering plants in 1979, but not in 1980. There were significant, positive correlations between groat protein percentage, 100-seed weight, and grain yield in F1 and F2 generations, but they were not large numerically. Relationships among these traits were either negative or nonsignificant in the F3 generation. Although our results indicated that selection for higher groat protein percentage is possible when a low protein A. sativa cultivar is used, most of our simple cross progenies from A. sativa x A. fatua crosses had weak straw and were susceptible to crown rust (Puccinia coronata Cda. var. avenae Fraser and Led.).  相似文献

Six lines, i.e., H-2, H-11, H-17, H-23, H-24, and H-36, resistant to Tomato Leaf Curl Virus (TLCV) have been developed with controlled introgression of L. hirsutum f. glabratum into Lycopersicon esculentum. The disease incidence, 120 days after inoculation, of those lines derived from L. hirsutum f. glabratum ranged from 8.3 to 35.0 %, whereas in susceptible varieties it ranged from 95.0 to 100 %. The coefficient of infection (CI) values in the resistant lines were very low, ranging from 0.25 to 4.55, whereas in susceptible varieties CI values ranged from 60.56 to 88.96. Line H-2 had the highest resistance by showing the least disease incidence and CI values. The fruit size and days to maturity in resistant lines were close to those of cultivated susceptible varieties. These lines have the scope for being used as varieties in the TLCV infested areas or as foundation lines for further genetic improvement.  相似文献

Summary The inheritance of the resistance to Didymella lycopersici was studied on F3- and Bc1-lines from interspecific crosses of L. esculentum with L. hirsutum and with L. hirsutum glabratum. The resistance is not monogenic and is inherited in dominant fashion. The high h2 values based on line means offer possibilities to seleet efficiently for enhanced levels of resistance.  相似文献

Summary Six chickpea lines resistant to Ascochyta rabiei (Pass.) Lab. were crossed to four susceptible cultivars. The hybrids were resistant in all the crosses except the crosses where resistant line BRG 8 was involved. Segregation pattern for diseases reaction in F2, BCP1, BCP2 and F3 generations in field and glasshouse conditions revealed that resistance to Ascochyta blight is under the control of a single dominant gene in EC 26446, PG 82-1, P 919, P 1252-1 and NEC 2451 while a recessive gene is responsible in BRG 8. Allelic tests indicated the presence of three independently segregating genes for resistance; one dominant gene in P 1215-1 and one in EC 26446 and PG 82-1, and a recessive one in BRG 8.Research paper No. 3600  相似文献

Summary Variation in pigment content of the flour of bread wheats (Triticum aestivum L.) was studied in the progenies of F1 and F2 of three crosses and their reciprocals. Reciprocal differences in pigment content were observed in the F1 and F2 means. Low pigment content was found to be partially dominant or over dominant in the crosses studied. There was evidence of substantial mid-parent F1 heterosis in all crosses and betterparent F1 heterosis in three crosses. In the F2, heritability estimates were moderate to high. The F2 frequency distributions were not normal. Estimation of effective factor pairs indicated the presence of one or two major gene pairs involved in the expression of pigment content in the flour. Action of modifiers was also assumed in one cross and its reciprocal. A factorial approach to metrical character suggested that the F2 segregation ratios of low pigment content to high pigment content were 3:1, 15:1, 13:3 and 9:7 for the different crosses. Utilization of the findings in a wheat breeding program is briefly discussed.  相似文献

Summary Tomato accessions (Lycopersicon sp.), along with commercial cultivars and breeding lines were grown in a field infested with the brown root rot (BRR) organism, Pyrenochaeta lycopersici and evaluated for resistance. Three L. esculentum Mill. accessions, P.I. 260397, P.I. 262906 and P.I. 203231, were resistant and were used as male parents in crosses designed to transfer resistance to tomatoes of fresh market type. Through analysis of parental generations and F1 and F2 progenies from three crosses the heritability of resistance in the broad sense was estimated to range from 25 to 43 percent. The minimum number of genes influencing resistance was estimated to be from 4 to 8.Florida Agricultural Experiment Stations Journal Series Paper no. 317.  相似文献

Summary Crossability and cytology were examined in F1, F2, B1 and hybridsplants of F1 hybrids of Brassica campestris and three wild relatives of B. oleracea, B. bourgeaui, B. cretica and B. montana, respectively. The F2 plants were obtained after self-and open pollination of the F1 hybrids. The B1 and hybrid plants were produced after the F1 hybrids backcrosses with B. campestris and crossed with B. napus, respectively. After crossing the F1 hybrids, many seeds of the F2, B1 and hybrid plants were harvested. Multivalent formation was high in the chromsome configuration for the PMCs of F2, B1 and hybrid plants, suggesting that crossing over might occur between them. Many different types of aneuploids were obtained in the progenies of the F2, B1 and hybrid plants. It is suggested that different types of normal egg cells may be produced by one-by-one or little-by-little chromosome addition. The possibility is discussed of gene transfer from B. bourgeaui, B. cretica and B. montana, to cultivated plants, B. campestris and B. napus.  相似文献

Inheritance of resistance to the fruit borer, Heliothis armigera Hübner in tomato was studied in TWO interspecific crosses. L. hirsutum f. gLabratum‘B 6013′. a fruit borer-resistant parent, was crossed with two susceptible L. esculentum varieties ‘HS 101’ and. ‘HS 102′. Six generations of two crosses were evaluated for percentage fruit: infestation (on a number basis) and the estimates of the gene effects were derived from the generation mean using a three parameter model A preponderance of additive gene effects was found for this trait. Heritability in the narrow sense was observed to be high indicating the fixable nature of the character.  相似文献

The inheritance of earliness and fruit Weight in tomato was studied in tour interspecific crosses. Two cultivated varieties, i.e.‘HS 101’ and “HS 102′, were hybridized with two wild species. L. birsutum f. glabratum‘B 6013’ and L. pimpinellifolium‘A 1921′. Six generations of these crosses were evaluated for these traits and the estimates of gene effects were derived from the generation mean using an epistatic (six parameters) model. There were very wide differences between cultivated and wild species for earliness and fruit weight and in the segregating populations, plants with delayed maturity and smaller fruit size were recorded with high frequency. It was found that the inheritance pattern was mainly governed by additive gene action. Epistatic effects also contributed towards the inheritance of both traits.  相似文献

Summary Two blue-mold resistant cultivars of Nicotiana tabacum L. were crossed with each other and with the susceptible Israeli local cultivar Mikhal. F1, F2 and F3 progenies of these crosses, F1 and F2 of backcrosses and the parental varieties were grown in a series of experiments, in which the seedlings were exposed to heavy natural infection with Peronospora tabacina Adam. The genetic basis of resistance was found to be identical in the two resistant strains Bel-61-10 and Chemical mutant. A single dominant major gene determined the segregation of resistance versus susceptibility in the crosses of these strains with Mikhal. The level of resistance of resistant segregates was shifted by environment and by quantitatively modifying genes. The index of resistance, which was calculated as a weighted mean of the degree of blue-mold expression of the resistant segregates, differed in the generations of cross progeny. This could be explained by the different expected levels of the modifying genes in these generations. Heritability of the index of resistance was calculated by parent-offspring regression and it was found to be 0.542 in the F3 and 0.227 in F2 backcross progenies.  相似文献

Summary The origin and nature of the diploid cultivated potato species S. ajanhuiri Juz. et Buk. was studied. Several lines of evidence indicate that S. ajanhuiri might be derived from natural crosses between primitive cultivars of the diploid species S. stenotomum and the wild species S. megistacrolobum. Morphological comparisons were made between S. stenotomum x S. megistacrolobum F1 hybrids and naturally occurring S. ajanhuiri to investigate this hypothesis. Comparisons were also made between S. ajanhuiri x S. stenotomum crosses and the F2 generation of the first-mentioned cross.Crosses between the two major groups of S. ajanhuiri cultivars, Ajawiri and Yari, showed not only genetic breakdown but also a wide range of phenotypic variation similar to those of artificial F2 families of S. stenotomum x S. megistacrolobum. Furthermore, there was strong evidence showing that the Yari group of S. ajanhuiri could almost certainly be an F1 S. stenotomum x S. megistacrolobum hybrid, whereas the Ajawiri group could be a backcross of an F1 hybrid to S. stenotomum. These results added further support to the hypothesis of a hybrid origin of S. ajanhuiri, as well as indicating its putative parents. It is suggested that this hybridogenic taxon be retained at the species level under the name Solanum x ajanhuiri.  相似文献

Summary The inheritance of resistance to coffee berry disease (CBD) has been studied by applying a preselection test to F2 progenies of a half diallel cross between 11 coffee varieties with different degrees of resistance and to sets of parental, F1, F2, B11 and B12 generations of crosses between resistant and susceptible varieties. True resistance to CBD appears to be controlled by major genes on three different loci. The highly resistant variety Rume Sudan carries the dominant R- and the recessive K-genes. The non-allelic interaction between these two genes is of a duplicate nature. The R-locus has multiple alleles with R 1R1alleles present in Rume Sudan and the somewhat less effective R 2R2alleles in a variety like Pretoria, which also has the K-gene. The moderately resistant variety K7 carries only the recessive K-gene. The arabica-like variety Hibrido de Timor (a natural interspecific arabica x robusta hybrid) carries one gene for CBD resistance on the T-locus with intermediate gene action. It probably inherited this gene from its robusta parent. There is circumstantial evidence that the resistance to CBD is of a stable nature, but it is advisable to accumulate in one genotype as many resistance genes as possible by combining in the breeding programme the resistance of Rume Sudan with that of Hibrido de Timor.  相似文献

Summary Angular leaf spot (Isariopsis griseola Sacc.) is a serious disease of French bean in the hills of India and 40 to 70 per cent of the green pods are damaged and rendered unmarketable. Crosses were made between PLB 257, (Phaseolus coccineus L.), a red flowering pole tope, resistant to angular leaf spot, and Contender (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), a highly susceptible commercial cultivar. Studies of the F1, F2, and F3 progenies indicated that PLB 257, carries a recessive gene imparting resistance to angular leaf spot.  相似文献

Inheritance of black leaf mold resistance in tomato   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Summary Inheritance of black leaf mold (BLM) (caused by Pseudocercospora fuligena) resistance was studied in four crosses involving two resistant Lycopersicon accessions (PI134417, L. hirsutum and PI254655, L. esculentum) and four susceptible Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center tomato lines (CLN657BC1F2-267-0-3-12-7, CL143-0-10-3-0-1-10, CLN698BC1F2-358-4-13 and CL5915-93D4-1-0-3). For each cross, six generations, i.e. P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1F1 and BC1F2 were evaluated following inoculations with isolate Pf-2 of P. fuligena. Chi-square analyses of the data based on the ratio of resistant to susceptible plants in the F2 in three of four crosses gave a good fit to a segregation ratio of 1 R : 15 S, and BC1F2 data in three of four crosses gave an acceptable fit to the segregation ratio of 1 R : 63 S. The results indicate that resistance to BLM may be conditioned by two recessive genes acting epistatically in both PI134417 and PI254655.  相似文献

Summary Crosses between an early flowering inbred broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica) HS140 and four later maturing inbred lines, S301, S310, s318, and S258, were studied to determine the inheritance of earliness as expressed by days to first open flower. Mean days to first flower for F1 and F2 were almost identical, and were close to the mean of the two parents in three crosses, indicating additive inheritance. In the cross HS140×S258, for which no F1 plants were available, the F2 mean was closer to the mean of the early parent, but this was likely due to a distortion of the data caused by the very late maturation of S258, the latest maturing parent in the study. Frequency distribution for parents and progenies supported the conclusions from parent and progeny mean values and indicated that days to maturity is a quantitative character, with mostly additive inheritance.Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station Technical Paper No. 7578.  相似文献

Summary The first backcross and F2 progenies from triploid F1 and tetraploid F1 hybrids between B. napus and 2x and 4x B. oleracea ssp. capitata (cabbage) were studied for their general morphology, resistance to race 2 of the clubroot pathogen, chromosome number and meiotic chromosome behavior. No linkage was apparent between resistance and the major morphological characters. Unreduced gametes played a large part in the successful formation of seed of the B1 and F2 progeny. B1 plants with low chromosome numbers were selected for use in recurrent backcrosses. The potential use of anther culture to extract gametic progenies from resistant B1 and F2 plants with higher chromosome numbers was suggested. The presence of homoeologous pairing observed in all the plants is considered advantageous for selecting suitable progeny in later generations.  相似文献

Resistance to many arthropods, including Liriomyza species, is known to be present in accessions of Lycopersicon hirsutum (f. typicum or f. glabratum). From the cross L. esculentum cv. Moneymaker and L. hirsutum f. glabratum G1561 100 F2 plants were screened in a no-choice test for resistance to Liriomyza trifolii. The Bulked Segregant Analysis approach was used to find Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA markers linked to resistance. Two markers were located on chromosome 2. Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms constructed a more detailed genetic linkage map for part of chromosome 2. Kruskal-Wallis analysis showed that this chromosome harbored a Quantitative Trait Locus (QTL) for number of pupae, number of mines and damage. At least one major QTL is essential for resistance and this QTL is located on chromosome 2 nearby the location of the tomato probe TG451. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Summary The inheritance of parthenocarpy in the pickling cucumber has been studied with progenies of an incomplete diallel cross between lines with different degrees of parthenocarpy and with two sets of F1, F2 and B1 of crosses between parthenocarpic and non-parthenocarpic lines. The inheritance of parthenocarpy could be explained by three independent, isomeric major genes with additive action, together with a non-allelic interaction of the homozygote-heterozygote type. Indications have been found for linkages between genes that govern parthenocarpy, femaleness and the spined/hairy fruit character. Consequences for breeding parthenocarpic varieties are discussed.  相似文献

Summary A strong epidemiological association is known to exist between the consumption of grass pea and lathyrism. A neurotoxin, -N-Oxalyl-L-, -diaminopropanoic acid (ODAP) has been identified as the causative principle. This study was undertaken to investigate the mode of inheritance of the neurotoxin ODAP, flower and seed coat colour in grass pea. Five grass pea lines with low to high ODAP concentration were inter-crossed in all possible combinations to study the inheritance of the neurotoxin. Parents, F1 and F2 progenies were evaluated under field condition and ODAP analyzed by an ortho-phthalaldehyde spectrophotometric method. Many of the progenies of low x low ODAP crosses were found to be low in ODAP concentration indicating the low ODAP lines shared some genes in common for seed ODAP content. The F1 progenies of the low ODAP x high ODAP crosses were intermediate in ODAP concentration and the F2 progenies segregated covering the entire parental range. This continuous variation, together with very close to normal distribution of the F2 population both of low x low and low x high ODAP crosses indicated that ODAP content was quantitatively inherited. Reciprocal crosses, in some cases, produced different results indicating a maternal effect on ODAP concentration. Blue and white flower coloured lines of grass pea were inter-crossed to study the inheritance of flower colour. Blue flower colour was dominant over the white. The F2 progenies segregated in a 13:3 ratio indicating involvement of two genes with inhibiting gene interactions. The gene symbol LB for blue flower colour and LW for white flower colour is proposed.  相似文献

By genetic analysis of selfed progenies and reciprocal F1, F2 and B1: populations of crosses of a waxless mutant and three waxy plants two recessive genes were identified in kohlrabi (Brassica oleracea L. var. gongyloides), causing waxlessness independently from each other. Gene a is responsible for glossy waxless and gene b tor dull waxless plants. To be able to form a wax layer a plant must have both genes in the dominant constitution, i.e. A.B. (“complementary gene effect). Some segregation results which deviate from expectation could indicate a potential linkage between one of the two wax loci and the incompatibility locus. Both genes can be used as markers m hybrid breeding of cole crops as well as in basic research.  相似文献
