Relaciones entre la erosionabilidad,el material de origen y el tipo de suelo en zonas de la provincia de valencia (España)

Soil erodibility greatly affects the intensity of water erosion processes which occur in the Spanish Mediterranean littoral. Relationships of soil erodibility with the taxonomic soil characteristics and the properties of the lithologic material were analyzed; land use pattern was also considered.Soil samples taken from 302 sites spread around the four northern districts of Valencia province (Spain) were studied and the data acquired were statistically analyzed. The studied area covers a transect from the littoral to the mountainous inland area.Erodibility values (K of WISCHMEIER, JOHNSON & CROSS 1971) from the different soil types and their relation with parent materials existing in the area were obtained, whilst also determining edaphic factors and substrata characteristics more closely related with erodibility.Types of soils with lowest erodibility (K: 0.10) are Rendzinas, Kastanozems, Phaeozems and Arenosols, with moderate erodibility (K: 0.25–0.31), Luvisols, Acrisols and Fluvisols and with moderate to high erodibility (K: 0.35) Regosols.Taxonomic soil characteristics most related to the K factor were the existence of a mollic horizon, the coarse textural class and the presence of one argillic horizon.In relation to the parent material, soils derived from consolidated limestone and detritic carbonated materials are those with lowest values of K (always under 0.2). In the opposite extreme (K: 0.38–0.41) are the soils developed from silty Quaternary or clayey Wealden materials (Cretaceous). The presence of calcium is related with a low K values whilst the existence of silty materials is associated with high K values.Finally, the most frequent soil-parent material associations in the area and their relationships with erodibility were as follows: the Rendzinas, Kastanozems and Phaeozems were usually found on Limestones and Dolomites or Limestones and Marls, and had low erodibility. The Arenosols were found over Albion sands or Buntsandstein sandstones and have moderate erodibility. The Regosols, developed on Keuper or Wealden, show moderate to high K values.The information thus obtained is useful to predict the erosive behaviour of most frequent soil-parent material associations, and for better knowledge of the characteristics of Mediteranean ecosystems in order to improve erosion risk prediction and the design of control measures.

Parameter optimized Morlet wavelet de noising method based on cross validation method

A new de noising method based on parameter optimized Morlet wavelet is put forward. The Morlet wavelet is chosen as the mother wavelet because its shape is similar to the mechanical shock signals. The mother Morlet wavelet is improved by adding two parameters which decide the shape of the mother wavelet in time domain. The added parameters and the appropriate scale parameter for the wavelet transformation are designed by the cross validation method. Finally, the useful components of the signal can be obtained by the improved Morlet wavelet de noising method. The gear fault diagnosis experimental result shows that the proposed method has a good de nosing performance and it is effective in fault feature extraction.     

A new parameter for evaluating waveform distortion of partial discharge signals after de noising

The alternating detail parameter (ADP) is a new parameter to represent waveform micro distortion. It is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional evaluation parameters, the normalized correlation coefficient (NCC) and the variation trend parameter. This proposal is based on the principle that two discrete waveforms are more similar if the ratio of their corresponding differentials is close to one. ADP is shown to be correct by power spectrum analysis. Simulation research demonstrated that ADP is valid for evaluating the effect on the de noised partial discharge signal by associating NCC with signal noise ratio.     

The Híbrido de Timor germplasm: identification of molecular diversity and resistance sources to coffee berry disease and leaf rust

The main phytosanitary problems affecting global coffee production are the fungal diseases known as rust, caused by Hemileia vastatrix Berkeley and Broome, and coffee berry disease (CBD), induced by Colletotrichum kahawae Waller and Bridge. The main disease control strategy is the use of resistant coffee cultivars. Híbrido de Timor is the most important source of resistant varieties used in breeding programs worldwide. The objective of this work was to characterize the diversity and disease resistance of 152 HdT genotypes from the germplasm collection at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). Accessions were phenotyped with H. vastatrix races II and XXXIII. Molecular analysis was carried out with 29 random microsatellite markers or single sequence repeats (SSRs), and two SSRs associated with the CBD resistance gene Ck-1. All accessions in the germplasm collection were resistant to H. vastatrix race II, and 141 were resistant to H. vastatrix race XXXIII. Based on the presence of markers, there were 106 accessions containing the CBD resistance gene Ck-1. In the diversity study, the 152 accessions clustered into 21 different groups. A unique molecular profile (fingerprint) was determined for each individual, using 52 alleles from 22 SSR markers. The HdT germplasm of UFV was highly diverse, and included 99 accessions with multiple disease resistance genes, including the CBD resistance gene Ck-1, and others conferring resistance to H. vastatrix races II and XXXIII.
