On a brown warp soil (Fluventic Eutrochrept) near Goettingen, Germany, conventional leafed pea ( Pisum sativum L. cvs Messire and Bohatyr) and semileafless types (cvs Profi, Juno and Azur) were grown in mixed stands together with oat ( Avena sativa cvs Alf and Lutz) in substitutively designed experiments from 1995 to 1997. Oat was the dominant component. Crowding coefficients for oat averaged 7.4. No relationship could be detected between the crowding coefficient of oat and any yield advantage from the mixture. Crowding coefficients for pea varied substantially, between 0.1002 (Juno and Alf in 1996) and 0.2979 (Bohatyr and Alf in 1996). Crowding coefficients for semileafless pea cultivars were smaller than for conventional leafed types. The yield advantage of the mixture increased as the crowding coefficient of pea increased. The maximum yield increase for the mixture was achieved when the relative yield total (RYT)=1.17 or + 11 dt grain DM ha–1 for mixtures of the long-strawed conventional leafed cultivars Bohatyr and Alf (in 1996). The crowding coefficients of pea were positively correlated with the level of symbiotically fixed N2 in the mixed stands. When N2 fixation with mixed cropping was about 30 kg N ha–1, RYT was unity. Increasing symbiotic N2 in the mixtures resulted in increasing yield advantages in the mixture. Short-strawed pea cultivars seem unsuitable for mixing with oat. Plant height of pea appeared to be more important than plant leaf type. Accordingly, mixtures containing the long-strawed semileafless pea cultivars Profi and Alf were more successful. It is concluded that increased competitiveness of the pea component in the mixture with oat entails increasing the level of symbiotic N2 fixation including resource complementarity and thus yield advantage in the mixed stands.  相似文献

The effect of very high sowing rates on establishment year dry matter (DM) yield and stand persistence of irrigated lucerne ( Medicago sativa L.) was studied. Two cultivars ('Peace' and 'Apollo II') were sown in 1986 at two row spacings and six sowing rates from 5.6 to 50.4 kg ha−1. Established seedling density (Sd) increased linearly with sowing rate (R):Sd= 24.1R. Establishment year DM yield increased at sowing rates from 5.6 to 16.8 kg ha−1, levelled off as sowing rate increased to 33.6 ka ha−1, and then decreased as sowing rate increased further. Thus, there was a broad optimum sowing rate that gave a maximum sowing year DM yield. Percent plant survival to the third year (1988) decreased with increasing sowing rate so that plant densities became similar for sowing rates greater than 16.8 kg ha−1. Within the range 5.6 to 16.8 kg ha−1, increasing sowing rate increased stand persistence measured as 1988 plant density; however, a corresponding increase in DM yield was not obtained. For all full-production years, DM yield was independent of sowing rate. Sowing rate did not affect three chemical measures of forage quality.  相似文献

Cultivar mixture effects in winter barley as dependent on location and production intensity
Grain yields of high-yielding six-rowed winter barley cultivar mixtures were compared with those of pure stands under different production intensities in field trials over two years and two locations. Generally, mixing effects tended to be positive with low and negative with high intensities. Significantly negative mixing effects could be observed each year at both locations with highest production intensity. Significantly positive mixing effects could be observed in one year at one location only- Mixing effects could not be explained by the observed levels of diseases and lodging. In potato, dry matter (DM) production and partitioning between plant organs and N accumulation are affected by N application; however, since cultivars differ in these processes, N fertilization must be adjusted to each cultivar. This paper studies the response of potato cultivars differing in maturity to N fertilization in the south-east of the Buenos Aires Province (37°45'S, 58°18'W) in two growing seasons. Treatments combined four N doses (0–180 kg ha−1) and four cultivars: Jaerla (early), Spunta (mid-early), Mailén INTA (medium late) and Huinkul MAG (late). DM and N content were measured in leaves, stems and tubers throughout the growing season and intercepted photosynthetically active radiation was regularly assessed. There was an increase in tuber yield up to intermediate N doses (60 kg ha−1 in 1990 and 120 kg ha−1 in 1991). Tuber yield was similar for Spunta and Huinkul MAG. There was no interaction between cultivar and N fertilization for tuber dry matter yield. DM partitioning to leaves and tubers during the growing season differed among cultivars, but N availability affected partitioning similarly for all cultivars. Jaerla had a high and Huinkul MAG had a low radiation use efficiency between plant emergence and the beginning of tuber formation. Jaerla, Spunta and Mailén INTA reached maximum N content in foliage at ≈60 days after emergence and Huinkul MAG 20 days later. Total N content at maturity varied between 120 and 250 kg ha−1 and was affected by cultivar and N dose. The results will help to improve N fertilization recommendations and management practices as related to each cultivar under the environmental conditions of this region.  相似文献

Seedling growth and ion content of Pakistani bread wheat cultivars was assessed in solution culture in the absence and presence of NaCl (100 and 200 mol m−3) to determine whether seedling traits could be used in breeding programs for salt-tolerance. Growth was recorded as seedling fresh weight, and the shoot and leaves analysed for major inorganic ions. Plants subjected to salt stress excluded Na+ and Cl ions from the shoot to varying extents. Exclusion preferentially maintained lower Na+ and Cl levels in the apical tissue, as the leaf to leaf gradient in Na+ and Cl became steeper as the external salinity increased, although there were significant differences between cultivars. Correlation analysis on individual plants indicated that excluding Na+ at low salinity, and Na+ and Cl at high salinity, were correlated significantly with growth performance, although it was clear that other factors were also involved. The relationship of tolerance to ion exclusion was stronger when the data were examined on an individual plant basis than when related to pooled cultivar data or to the cultivar rank order derived from field trials, probably due to large variations in Na+, and to a lesser extent, Cl transport in supposedly homozygous cultivars.  相似文献

Effects of chlormequat chloride (CCC), ethephon and mixtures of CCC and ethephon, applied at Zadoks growth stage (ZGS) 30 (the beginning of stem elongation) on the number of spike-bearing shoots and their contribution to grain yields of four spring barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) cultivars were studied in 1987 and 1988 at McGill University, Quebec, Canada. The results varied between years and among cultivars. The mixtures of CCC and ethephon or ethephon alone, produced significant increases in the number of spikes m−2 in cultivars Joly and Laurier , in both years, and in Leger only in 1988. Ethephon and ethephon containing mixtures reduced the yields of Joly and Leger in 1988. In both years CCC had no effect on spikes m−2 for all cultivars. Increases in spikes m−2 were accompanied by decreases in 1000-grain weight, and/or grains per spike, which offset or more than offset potential benefits from increased spikes m−2. These results indicate that under continental climatic conditions such as those prevalent in Quebec, Canada, application of PGRs to spring barley at ZGS 30 does not increase grain yield through an increased number of spikes m−2.  相似文献

Increasing sink size (i.e. number of grains m−2) has been the way of the genetic improvement for obtaining higher grain yield of wheat. We have studied under field conditions the number of fertile florets and grains per spike and individual grain weight of three bread wheat cultivars ( Klein Favorito, Eureka FCS and Buck Pucara ) which were previously selected to represent cultivars released at different eras (1920, 1940 and 1980, respectively) in Argentina (S lafer and A ndrade 1989).
The three cultivars Buck Pucara, Eureke FCS , and Klein Favorito averaged 56.9, 48, and 34.5 grains spike−1. Differences were observed in both main shoot and tiller spikes. The number of fertile florets at anthesis was greater in the modern cultivar than in the other two cultivars; however, the intermediate and old cultivars did not significantly differ in this trait. Differences in number of florets and number of grains spike were independent of the number of spikelets spike−1; spikelet numbers did not vary among the three cultivars. Therefore, both the number of fertile florets produced per spikelet and the ability of the cultivar to set grains in those florets were responsible for the different number of grains spike−1 among cultivars. The modern, high yielding cultivar had a lower individual grain weight than the old, low yielding cultivar when the average of all grains were considered; but basal grains of its central spikelets were as heavy as those of the other cultivars.
We suggest (i) that the modern cultivars of Argentina have increased their ability both to produce fertile florets and to set grains, and (ii) that the lower individual grain weight of the modern cultivars does not imply an increased competition for resources as a consequence of their higher number of grains.  相似文献

A field experiment was conducted to study the growth and yield responses of lentil cultivars to phosphorus, zinc and biofertilizer application on a sandy loam soil during the winter seasons of 1989–90 and 1990–91 at the farm of Division of Agronomy, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India. The two lentil cultivars used in the study were Microsperma (JL 1) and Macrosperma (Lens 4076) and the biofertilizers were Rhizobium and VAM fungi. Results showed that higher values of LAI, root nodulation, yield attributes (number of pods plant−1, number of grains pod−1 and grain yield plant−1), grain yield and harvest index were obtained from JL 1 whereas plant height and 1000 grain weight were higher in Lens 4076. Application of 17.2 kg Pha−1 as single superphosphate (SSP) along with 5 kg Znha−1 as zinc sulphate resulted in marked improvement in growth and yield attributes, grain yield and harvest index when compared with the 17.2 kg P as rock phosphate (with and without Zn) and the control treatments. Combined inoculation of Rhizobium and VAM fungi resulted in improved growth and yield attributes, grain yield and harvest index when compared with inoculation of either of the inocula at a time.  相似文献

Four bread wheat cultivars were studied at two salinity levels. Tobari 66 had the lowest uptake of Na+ and Cl, and the highest K+/Na+ ratio; Pato had the highest uptake of these ions and Lyallpur 73 was intermediate. Intervarietal differences were greater at higher salinity, suggesting that they were not caused by variation at the Kna1 locus. There were significant differences between inbred lines for Na+, particularly in Blue Silver, suggesting the possibility of selecting genotypes with enhanced tolerance from within existing cultivars. Pato, Tobari 66 and their reciprocal F1 hybrids were further evaluated at four salinity levels. The hybrids exhibited similar relative grain yield to Tobari, with better Na+ and Cl exclusion and higher K+/Na+ ratios than Pato. Overall, Tobari had the highest absolute yield under salinity, and the hybrids were closer to Tobari than to Pato. Tiller and grain numbers, 100-grain weight and yield were more affected by salinity than were height, spike length and spikelet number. We conclude that intervarietal variation for salt tolerance in wheat is controlled by genes which could be transferred to sensitive genotypes to improve their tolerance, and that the K+/Na+ ratio of the youngest leaf could be used to screen for salt tolerance.  相似文献

The effects of N rates and N timings on yield formation, N uptake at five growth stages and fertilizer N use efficiency of six-row and two-row winter barley were evaluated in field trials conducted from 1990/91 to 1992/93 at the TU Munich's research station Roggenstein.

On average over 3 years the six-row cultivar yielded most at a total rate of 110 kg ha−1 N including an early application of 40 kg ha−1 N up to EC 30 (Zadoks scale). The two-row cultivar achieved maximum yield at a total rate of 140 kg ha−1 N including early applications of 70 kg ha−1 N up to EC 30. The highest yielding N-treatments of six-row barley regularly took up less nitrogen at EC 32 (95 kg ha−1 N on average) than the non-optimally fertilized treatments, whereas full exploitation of the yield potential of two-row barley was associated with higher rates of N-uptake at EC 32 (113 kg ha−1 N on average).

Lodging did not occur in the trials conducted in 1991 and 1992 and no difference was detected between the two cultivars in fertilizer N use efficiency. With six-row barley the N treatment giving maximum yield also led to an optimum fertilizer N use efficiency. Full exploitation of the two-row barley yield potential was associated with suboptimal fertilizer N use efficiencies.  相似文献

Linseed ( Linum usitatissimum L.) stems, which contain bast fibres, make up a considerable part of the linseed biomass, but are considered a by-product of no value. The feasibility of cultivating existing linseed cultivars and breeding lines for dual-purpose use of stem and seed was studied in 1995–97 in Jokioinen, Finland. Finnish linseed cv. Helmi was compared with 10 linseed genotypes and one flax cultivar for stem yield, ratio of stem yield to seed yield, and plant stand height and density. The stem yield of cv. Helmi averaged 1317 kg dry matter ha-1. Significantly higher stem yields were produced by breeding lines Bor 15 and Bor 18 and cvs Gold Merchant, Norlin and Martta. The cv. Helmi produced lower stem yield than seed yield while breeding lines Bor 15 and Bor 18 and cvs Gold Merchant and Martta yielded more stem than seeds. The difference in the ratio of stem yield to seed yield between them and cv. Helmi was statistically significant. The mean plant stand height was 60.3 cm and the final plant density 594 plants m-2. No relationship was found between stem yield and height or density. Within 2 days of seed threshing, stems of early maturing Finnish genotypes dried up in the field to nearly 15 % moisture content, even in the middle of September (1996). The early maturing breeding lines Bor 15 and Bor 18, with their significantly higher stem yields relative to cv. Helmi, are recommended for dual-purpose use.  相似文献

The effect of plant density and component frequency was examined in mixtures of two spring faba bean ( Vicia faba L.) cultivars Donas and Minden grown in a replacement series experiment in the field. There were two densities, 44 and 25 plants m−2.
At low density mixtures yielded significantly more (+ 22.5 %) than the mean of the components grown in monoculture. The advantage was considerably reduced (+ 7.8 %) at high density. A frequency dependent advantage was observed when the proportion of the components in mixtures was varied. At high density and when averaged over the two densities, the greatest yield advantages were obtained when Danas , the high yielding component represented 75 % of the mixture, whilst at low density the greatest advantage was achieved at 50 : 50 mixture. Such gains were either due to component co-operation or complementation type interactions.
Mixtures produced greater total dry weights and more podded nodes per plant than the mean of the components. The remaining characters had values which were more or less similar for monocultures and mixtures.  相似文献

Long days at high latitudes inhibit tillering of cereals and hence seeding rates of 500–700 seeds m−2 are commonly used for spring wheat, barley and oats in Finland. Costs could be reduced by using a lower seeding rate in combination with crop management to produce more head-bearing tillers m−2. This study was designed to assess possibilities of breaking the uniculm growth habit of spring cereals by (1) lowering the seeding rate from 600 to 300 seeds m−2 and (2) manipulating tiller growth with early mechanical treatments to the crop (rolling, cutting) or chemical applications (foliar urea, CCC and GA). A low seeding rate and early application of foliar CCC at high latitudes, under good moisture conditions prior to heading, promoted 20% more head-bearing tillers and 6% higher grain yield than standard management practices. However, cultivars differed in their response to CCC. The advantageous effects of CCC at a low seeding rate were attributed to increase, over the controls, in contribution of head-bearing tillers to grain yield in wheat (cultivar Heta ), but more grains per head in oats (cultivar Veli ). Varietal recommendations for use of low seeding rate in combination with early CCC spraying should be examined further.  相似文献

Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] plant density for maximum yield in Japan is usually from 16 to 25 plants m−2. The objective of this study was to compare yield and yield components, especially node number between square- and zigzag- (an equilateral triangle-planting pattern or plants in the row offset from each other) planting patterns within a range of plant populations (16, 20 and 25 plants m−2).
Field experiments with cultivar Enrei (Maturity Group VII) were conducted in the field at Niigata University on a loamy sand soil in 1991, 1992 and 1993.
Yield increased as density decreased in 1991 and as density increased in 1992 and 1993. This result seemed to be due to adverse weather conditions during seed filling in 1991. Yield tended to be higher in zigzag- than in square-planting patterns except at 20 plants m−2. Seed number m−2 due to increased yield was highly correlated with branch node number. The yield increase was caused by an increase in total node number, especially branch node number m−2 (about 60 % contribution at 16 plants m−2 and about 40 % contribution at 25 plants m−2).  相似文献

The use of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars resistant to diseases may make it possible to reduce yield losses without the need to use fungicides, which are expensive and may damage the environment. The cultivar resistances favored depend on the region considered and the nature of the most widespread diseases in that region. We have constructed a statistical linear model for the estimation of relative yield loss due to diseases, making it possible to assess the effects of winter wheat cultivars in various disease conditions. We considered the interactions “potential disease intensity × winter wheat cultivar” for four main fungal diseases: septoria tritici blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola), brown rust (Puccinia triticina), yellow rust (Puccinia striiformis) and powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis). This model can therefore be readily adapted to different regions with diverse combinations of these diseases. The potential intensity of each disease in each trial was calculated based on the symptoms observed on susceptible cultivars not treated with fungicide. The cultivar effect was characterized by the ratings of cultivar susceptibility to each disease and by cultivar earliness. The parameters of the model were estimated from 276 wheat cultivar trials carried out over 12 years (1991–2002) in the major wheat-growing areas of France. This model can help to choose from the cultivars resistant to several diseases (but very rarely resistant to all the diseases), those cultivars best adapted to a given environment, according to the hierarchy of potential disease intensities encountered.  相似文献

为了揭示皖北地区主栽玉米品种适宜密度,为玉米高产创建的合理密植提供科学依据。通过对穗粒数、千粒重等参数的监测,研究淮北地区密度对主栽品种产量及相关性状的影响,连续2年在宿州市农科院农试场,以‘郑单958’、‘鲁单981’、‘隆平206’为试验材料,以审定密度为基准,每7500株/hm2为一个密度阶梯,设置从减少7500株/hm2至增加30000株/hm2不同密度处理,在充分满足水肥需求条件下进行高产栽培实践,在实现高产基础上分析其产量及相关性状特征。结果表明,除平展型玉米品种‘鲁单981’外,其他2个品种密度与产量呈抛物线关系,紧凑型品种‘郑单958’最适宜种植密度为73300株/ hm2,半紧凑型品种‘隆平206’适宜种植密度为68600株/hm2左右,平展型品种‘鲁单981’最适宜种植密度为45000~52500株/hm2。由此得出,品种株型越紧凑,种植密度可适当增大;随密度增大,穗粒数与千粒重与密度呈越显著负相关,品种‘鲁单981’生产上应适当稀植以规避风险。  相似文献

Growth and yield responses to plant density (6.75 × 104, 9.75 × 104 and 12.75 × 104 plants ha–1) and stage of transplanting (30, 35 and 40 days after sowing) of winter oilseed rape cultivar HO 605 were investigated in two field trials in the 1996/97 and 1997/98 growing seasons at Zhejiang University Farm, Huajiachi Campus, China. Results revealed a progressive decrease in leaf area per plant in response to increasing plant density and delayed transplanting, though leaf area m–2 and leaf area index were higher in high-density plants. Number of effective branches and pod per branch decreased with increasing plant density and delayed transplanting. There were no significant differences in the mean seed weight among treatments. Although the average number of seeds per pod was significantly lower for high-density plants and delayed transplanting, the economically highest seed yields were realized in relatively high-density plants. Seed oil content was negatively affected by increasing plant density, but no significant differences were observed with delayed transplanting. The highest seed yields of 1730.7 and 1748.1 kg ha–1 with no significant differences were observed for plant densities of 9.75 × 104 and 12.75 × 104 plants ha–1, respectively, transplanted at 35 and 30 days after sowing.  相似文献

Root growth of seedlings of old and new winter wheat cultivars and a spelt wheat at varying levels of nitrogen
Root growth of five old (time period 1882–1920) and five new (time period 1975–1982) winter wheal cultivars and a spelt winter wheat cultivar was investigated in two greenhouse trials. Nitrogen (NH4NO3) was supplied at six (Exp. I) and two (Exp. II) levels (sub- to supraoptimal for shoot growth). The seedlings were grown in sand-filled polyethylene tubes of 4.5 cm diameter and 50 cm length at 20 oC. The plants were harvested 11 (Exp. I) and 12 (Exp. II) days after emergence. At this early stage of development root growth o: old and new cultivars differed only slightly. The old T. aestivum cultivars had more seminal roots. The longest roots of the modern cultivars penetrated into deeper layers of the substrate. For some traits, cultivar: seemed to respond specifically to the varying N-supply. However, there were no significant difference: between old and new cultivars. Neither were old cultivars better adapted to low N-fertilization nor were modern cultivars superior in tolerating toxic concentrations of NH4NO3. Increasing N supply changes root growth as follows: decline in root dry matter, increase in shoot/root ratio of dry weight, decrease in number of seminal roots, shortening of axes and more laterals, increase in diameter of the laterals and less significantly of the main roots, increase in density of laterals, decline in root surface area. The number of apices was affected only to a very small degree.  相似文献

A simple randomized field experiment was conducted to assess the growth and yield of rape-seed-mustard in relation to sulphur and nitrogen interaction. Three levels of sulphur (0, 40 and 60 kg ha−1) in combination with three levels of nitrogen (60, 100 and 150 kg ha−1) were tested as treatments, T1, T2, T3, T4, and T5. Results indicated significant favourable effects of sulphur and nitrogen, when applied together, on yield components, seed and oil yield. Maximum response was observed with treatment T3 (having S and N of 40 and 100 kg ha1, respectively). Percentage oil content of seed was maximal at T4 (having S and N of 60 and 100 kg ha1) in both cultivars. The increase in N dose from 100 to 150 kg ha−1 without any change in applied S, i.e. 60 kg ha1 (T5), decreased the percentage oil content. The seed and oil yield, however, were similar to T3. Favourable responses of S and N interaction on leaf area index, rate of photosynthesis and biomass production were also observed.  相似文献
